Hello. I have a quick question that I hope you won’t mind me posting here. I usually post on the TTCAM&L forum, but I figure this group might have more expertise in this regard.
I’ve just started taking 50mg of B6 in an attempt to lengthen my luteal phase. Each time I’ve taken it, a headache started a short while later and continued for about 20 hours. It’s not a terrible headache, but it’s annoying.
The thing is, everything I’ve read about B6 states that it’s a great cure for migraine headaches. No mention of causing them. It’s supposed to help lower blood pressure in the long term, so I wondered if it could be lowering my already-low BP so quickly. I’ve been feeling light headed when standing as well.
As desperate as I am to lengthen the LP without Clomid, I think I’ll skip the B6 for now… or maybe I’ll try a lower dose.
mammal,
I've never heard of heachaches being a side effect vit B6. How long have you been taking it for? Is it possible you're coming down with something? It is flu season. Don't be afraid of Clomid. Its been around for a long time and is an excellent treatment. Unfortunately headaches are a known side effect of Clomid (as I've been experiencing for the last few days)!
Good luck with lengthening that LP. Wishing you a BFP really soon!
Thanks so much for your response, principessa76. I wondered whether I might be coming down with something too. I only took the B6 for three days, and I got a headache each time. I skipped it for a two days and no headaches. I'll try again this week with 25 mg and see if I have the same prob.
I am starting to think that clomid is the way to go. Thanks again.
hi, found your post after searching for headaches relating to taking B6. l have been taking a morning sickness formula of B6 and ginger tablet. pretty much straight away a head developed and now after 2 weeks l am thinking l would rather have the nausea - which is hanging around anyway. also taking progesterone pessaries as well and really don't know which is causing the headaches. my last pregnancy l also took the pessaries and no headaches, so thinking must be the B6. did you find the headaches returned, l know your post was several years ago.
Hiya, Kellytarna. To tell you the truth, I don't remember! I didn't even remember that I suffered from headaches until your message popped up. I just remember the nausea throughout my entire pregnancy. Late in the pregnancy, I had terrible nausea and light-headedness from iron supplements (the docs thought it was from the anemia, but I felt fine as long as I didn't take the pills). But the B-6... I just can't remember. Sorry! Maybe there is a different formula you could take?
hi, thanks for the reply. l thought it might be too long ago, but thanks anyway. l stopped the b6 yesterday and have no headaches since. the nauseas back in full swing but better than having those headaches. thanks again
