I can't see how it would be a problem. You are meant to lie down for at least 30 mins after inserting the pessary anyway (I always do mine when I go to bed). By the time you swim during the day it should be absorbed.
Hi and happy new year to all
I was wondering if any of you ladies could help me with a question (sorry if it's silly!!) - can you go swimming while using progesterone pessaries?
My rellies have invited themselves over for a swim this week. I will be 5 days post IUI and am using the progesterone twice a day. I'm kind of concerned that the water might wash away the progesterone and make it less effective (low progesterone is one of my problems).
Does anyone have experience with this? Should I not swim? Or wait a certain amount of time after using the progesterone? Or am I being just paranoid and shouldn't worry?![]()
Any advice would be really appreciated![]()

You should be fine, the vagina doesn't open (usually) unless it is touched. I've gone swimming with my pessaries in and my p4 was still increasing nicely. Have fun

I'm about to start using these and the nurse told me that it doesn't matter if it runs out after the 30mins because the progesterone is already absorbed. So I think it would be fine. She also told me if lying down for 30 mins wasn't an option then you could use them rectally! Then it wouldn't be an issue... haha personally I wouldn't go there but just sayin! Good luck!
Thank you so much ladies!
It will be at least a couple of hours after I use the progesterone that I go in the water, so from your responses I'm confident it will be fine. Now I don't have to think up some excuse!
Lyra - my specialist also told me about the "other" method of inserting progesterone but like you, I'm not that keen to try, ha ha
Thanks again x
