    Wow! What a ton of supportive responses! I'm only sorry I didn't get back sooner. I've pondered your thoughts and calmed down a bit now from the initial reaction, and am going to look into other clinics. The one we went to definitely asked for an up-front fee before any counseling commenced. And yes, I've settled down and feel reassured that once you start into it, it's just something you "do". Thank you all again, I feel very warmed and helped by all your good advice and support.

    Bakinggirl, Im not sure where in Melb you are...but MIVF at the Womens or Freemasons have free counsellors

    I am with MIVF and i definitely don't pay for counselling. They even offer to counsel family/close friends for free too.
    They see it as the first step towards making your decisions - and payment doesn't happen until after you start the medical rollercoaster.
