Hi all, just a quick-ish question?
I just got my results for progesterone test done on CD21 and they are not indicative of ovulation!!! 12 which is low. I really feel like I did O though...I may have O'd on cd 14-15 or 16. Could it have been done too early to get the right levels? I feel like I O'd but maybe it's normal to have all the symptoms of O and not O, ie, little pains, small amount of old blood in EWMC and sore boobs within 2 days of probable O day?
I definitely have higher temps on my chart post mid cycle too. Can anyone help?
I had one cycle where I had a low progesterone test result and was told that it was not indicative of O, but I had rotten PMS symptoms.
I was also having ultrasound tracking at the same time which showed that I had released a follicle that same cycle but that it was only 13mm which is not big enough to be a proper O, and not enough to trigger AF. I knew from the rotten PMS symptoms that something had happened.
So, I say that it is possible to have symptoms of O, if you O but not O quite properly, like I did, if that makes any sense.
Hormone results also vary a lot during the day and are not 100% accurate, so that could also explain a low result even if you have O'd. Sometimes Drs follow up with a second if there is a chance you have O'd but had a low result just to check.
my progesterone was 19.1 and i was told i 0ed but mine normally is 1.9 if your progesterone is low you can have spotting through your cycle as well.
I hope you did 0 and you get your BFP!!

Thanks for your responses. I am pretty confused, I think I O'd, had O pain, pos OPK and the right mc, even a little spot of blood right on the day.
I am either on cd 9 or 11, FF gave me O on cd 14 but I think it was more likely to have happened on cd16 so that would mean cd21 was a little early for the test. I should have had it done yesterday on cd24 perhaps?
Anyway, I had a minute amount of spotting last night but nothing today, I have my fingers crossed it's implantation but it might be pointless hoping this month.
Does anyone by chance know the rate of progesterone rise in the LP? ie, could it have gone up closer to 20 within a few days?
cheers, sassba32
Hi Sassba,
That level does indicate that you did not ovulate..
Are you on clomid? If so you should have a level of around or above 30nmol/L to indicate a good response to the clomid. Also, is it possible that you haven't yet ovulated. If you are on clomid it's not a given that you will ovulate around cd13-15 I certainly didn't do this for a few cycles in to my treatment... I had a cd21 test and it showed I hadn't ovulated but then 7 days later I had another that showed a level of 98. That was my first round of clomid and I conceived that round. I was using opk's and I ovulated on cd22.
I see though that you have had a temp rise so perhaps this is'n't the case. Don't lose heart - in the most fertile of women there will be a cycle now and then that is annovulatory...
