It really depends on the individual and the severity of the PCOS.

I was able to conceive DS2 on clomid. But I have friends that weren't successful.

Clomid affects different people in different ways. I did 8 rounds of clomid in total. On my 7th cycle we got pregnant but sadly had a M/C.

    Good Luck

It depends on how you define "success"...I took it for six months and it did exactly what it promises to do - i ovulated every month. So it worked for me. I didn't get pregnant though.

^^ same as n2l here. I ovulated on Clomid & my cycles were regular (like 28/29 days) but I never fell pg on Clomid.

I was already ovulating when I took it (to lengthen luteal phase and give me super ovulation, as the FS put it). I fell first cycle, but it was also the first cycle after a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and d&c. I reckon the "renovations" helped as much as the Clomid.

    Good luck

i did not conceive on clomid with my first (3 cycles) but went on to conceive on my 4th or 5th cycle of Ovulation induction with the injections.
With my 2nd son however i conceived with clomid, which shocked me as we had started trying 3 months earlier than we wanted to fall pregnant so that we could get the clomid cycles over and done with.

So for some it works, others it doesn't! Goodluck.

Hi Bellabee, I concieved on my second cycle of clomid 50mg. Im 6wks 2 days pregnant and can't believe it has finally happened for us. It's still early days though. I would recommend clomid. It does give you some side effects I had hot flushes, light headedness and mood swings. I think its really worth a try. I hope it happens for you. I also had a hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, d&c and dye and I think that may have helped too. Good luck and baby dust to you.

can u get a prescription for clomid from a normal GP or do you have to go to a FS? how long do you have to be trying for for them to consider clomid? i've been off the pill for almost 6 months and so far ovulated twice. should i look into it or wait a bit longer??

you have to see a FS to get the prescription for it and i have been trying for 3 years they like to do all other tests first then the chlomid i am still waiting for my next cycle to start as i have not had period yet not since july 8th so who knows at this point i have asked doc 2 times to do a laparoscopy and he keeps changing the subject and suggesting other things...so not sure where to go to now

    Hi Bellabee,

With regards to the laparoscopy, I am pretty sure it won't help PCOS. Do you have endo or fibroids as well?

Also, if you have a high BMI there are very few FS who will do a lap because of the risks involved.

    Hope this helps!

I had success with clomid on our second cycle of 50mg days 5to9.

However, my ovaries were also hyperstimulated so I was in a lot of pain early in my pregnancy.

You have to get a script for clomid I got mine through my gp but was only alowed a few cycles under her then I would have had to go to my ob... and generally they like to do progesterone monitoring before starting to make sure you aren't ovulating or to see if there are any issues in your luteal phase.

    Good luck x
