clomid, to start or not......

hi everyone,

my story is quite long so i'll try and make it brief, i have a DD and DS both conceived with clomid (i have pcos), since then i have had 3 natural pregnancies which all resulted in m/c, so i have decided to go back on clomid and was planning on starting this cycle, it turned into a long cycle, i started bleeding on day 55 and i thought af had arrived but it has only been blood on wiping, no "flow" as such, has been like this for 6 days now and im so confused as to whether i should start clomid or not (dr said to start day 4 but i hae taken it up to day 7 before with success). i spoke to a friend who works in a fertility clinic and she thought it best not to start as if im not bleeding properly it might not to be good so my question is, should i start clomid now or am i setting myself up for another m/c if i go into it with my cycle not being ideal ?

Hi minniemouse,

I have used Clomid and was under the impression that you count CD 1 from the day of RED blood. Have you done a pregnancy test? In relation to your question, whether or not you will have a m/c due to your cycle being a bit 'odd', I don't think this would cause you to have a m/c, but probably best to speak to your actual FS or OBS/GYNO for advice in relation to this and when to commencd Clomid. Hi minniemouse, I used to work for a obs/gynae, and he says the first day of your period is the first day of full flow red blood, spotting before AF starts is annoying but not counted as AF ( I had 7 days of spotting before AF started once its so frustrating). Your cycle does sound strange being that long, but it doesn't mean the next cycle will be, and it wouldn't have any effect on the chances of M/C. I hope AF comes soon and you can get going!! ps the doctors can give you a drug to start AF if she doesn't come, I think its called primilut (?sp)

thanks girls for your responses, i never did get full flow af in the end, had blood on wiping and nothing more for 7 days so i didn't know what to do so didn't take clomid in the end, i had baseline hormone blood tests done and should get the results tomorrow which im hoping explains things

RhiChiChi: i should come over and introduce myself in the clomid thread, might wait til im actually taking it though lol
