    Cost of puregon

Hi, does anyone know if the costs of drugs in IUI are included in a complete COH-IUI cycle? I am paying $800 per cycle, but I am unsure weather that included the puregon and pregnyl. I know they don't supply them I have to pick up a script and take it to the chemist myself. And how much is it roughly? I am in Melbourne.

Maruschke, from what I remember you Queenslanders get a pretty sweet deal when it comes to things like this! I can only claim $80 back from my $800.
I will not be surprised if it doesn't cover drugs. I have googled what i could find, but from what I can see it's around $150-250, but I'm not even sure that was in Vic. At this point, I don't even know If I can afford to pick them up

I think it's about $300 a pen for the puregon. The pregnyl is about $60 I think (from memory!)

    What dose are you on?

Tasha, why don't you ring the clinic to ask if it is included in the price?? Might save you some worry.

Wow, $300!! I have puregon sitting in my fridge but haven't paid for it yet!
Is $80 really all you get back Tasha? I got $448 back from medicare from $755 for the IUI. The meds (different meds) were additional as was the catheter ($80 non-claimable) and semen preparation (can't remember how much). Doesn't medicare refund uniformly across the country? I really hope you get a lot more back than you're expecting

tasha, not sure if it helps but i have acquired a spare puregon pen if you want it. im assuming its the actual drug vials that go in the pen that is the expensive bit. anyway, its just sitting in my cupboard if you need it.

Oh gosh, my meds were included with IVF. With IUI my only cost was the cycles I used clomid. Even then though the puregon would have been included if we went that route. IUI was $185 out of pocket for me. So sorry Tasha, that sounds $$$$$$.

Sorry, just got home from the gym.

N2L, $300!!!!!!!! Far out! If thats the case I can't do this cycle anyway then

Mich, yes it's only 10% so that's $80 So crap.

Andie, can you do that!? I'd be paranoid if I didn't do everything by the book.

Thanks Maruschke, maybe I should move?

    I feel sick

ETA: I will call the clinic tomorrow. So upset.

Hi, I have not done an IUI but did IVF and am in melbourne and drugs were included in the total cycle cost. was a while ago so could have changed but i would be fairly certain it is included.

N2L, I am with Monash. I do remember seeing that the payment has to be made in 7 days. So at least that will give me until next pay. We have just paid 2 car registrations and monthly rent. Plus today I discovered that the bank were taking out double our original loan repayments from misunderstanding so we are 2 months ahead, but $700 out of pocket!

I just dont want to leave myself with absolutely nothing until next week.

I understand. It sucks. Infertility treatment is so friggen expensive. It costs us thousands when it costs everyone else nothing

I think that's what makes me so angry. Everybody else does it for free. Even people who don't deserve it. I hope that by a miracle it is included in the $800, but since I have to put the script in myself I doubt it

I feel so stupid, I didn't even think about this. And I would have waited and taken the primolut, but then I ovulated on my own and pushed it all forward.
