Crinone, Period and false pos with HPT

    Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can help me. Im taking Crinone internally as I had my ET last thursday. Now Id like to know if you get a period while taking it and can this drug cause a false Pos result in a HPT.

    Hi Missy,
Crinone gave me hell. I hated it. Got all the 'usual' side effects plus a few others!
I got AF while using it, although i had been warned that it can put AF off, leading some to think they were pg, because AF hadn't arrived, when actually it was the Crinone causing AF not to come. This did not happen to me however. AF turned up on time (and brought the Crinone with it IYKWIM!!! Gross!!)
As for causing a false positive - i don't know - never seen a before! But i wouldn't think so - otherwise they would have warned me about that too.
    Have you got a ++?

    Hi
Thanks for replying. No I havent done a HPT yet but was going to do one next week. Wasnt sure if the crinone would interfere with it or not. Just asking as if it does I might not bother about it.

Im sorry you didnt get a BFP. I wish you all the luck. So your doing the IVF again in July is that right. Is that a full cycle or just frozen ET??

    Hi Missy,

I don't think it could cause a false positive. I also got AF while taking it. It was a day late, but still came before my blood test. Good luck for next week!! I had my embie tx the Thursday before you. Hang in there the tww is a bugger.

Hehehe, just read the list on the box!!! Headaches, dizzy spells (i fell over at the liquor store which DH thought was hilarious because i looked like a drunk!), very teary (more than usual!) feelings of inadequacy (more than usual!). I had a very upset tummy (Diarrhea sp?). I had unquenchable thirst (even drinking over 2 ltrs of water a day) too which was weird! I couldn't sleep either, but that may have been due to the nerves of the TWW as opposed to the Crinone.
I was quite relieved when i could stop it!

No snowbubs for us so not FET. I have another full stim ahead.

I'm pretty sure that if it caused false pos on POAS, then they'd warn us?

Good luck Missy - hope this is your month!!

    Hi Missy
I took ceinone and did 4 tests b efore our loss and they were all positive I also didnt get my period so not sure about all these drugs and what they do. But if im any indication the little bubby implanted but didnt want to stay 2 days after stopping crinone and I got a positive blood test as I was miscarrying. ITS ALL TOO CHEMICAL AND CONFUSING. How are you feeling do you feel different or have any symptoms. I so hope you do fingers crossed. Love Nikki

HPT are evil aren't they. Especially when you are doing IVF because of all the crazy hormone drugs we put into us. No matter which way the test goes, it could be a false reading.
If AF is due around saturday, then i think you are doing well to test then. Fingers crossed for you!!!

    Missy,

Crinone does not give you a false +ve. It is only progesterone, so it will not afffect a HPT at all. Pregnyl does, so unless you're on pregnyl, you can do a hpt for sure.

Crinone can delay your period. It can also cause you to have many symptoms of pg, like nausea, sore boobs, cramping, bloatedness etc. And this is because many of the symptoms associated with pg are caused by the increasing progesterone in your body. So taking crinone would have the same effect.

Good luck with your hpt! I used to be the hpt queen round these parts, but never got a +ve until after I had already had my BT, so whatever the result, take it with a pinch of salt, y'hear?

    Hi all.

Well Now I know that crinone doesnt give false +ve so im sure to go get one soon.

collo04 Im sorry you lost your bubs. How you feeling now. Last I spoke to you, you were feeling abit more +ve. I hope you still are.

kotare I know the HPT are hell. Im pretty sure I did one with DS and I was on crinone too but had finished it about 3 day earlier. But it turned out I was pg anyways.

sushee Ive been waiting for you. Some one in my TTC journal told me you would know as your know alot. So im glad you came and found this post. You have made me as ease now so thankyou for that. The only symptoms I have a sore bb but that is it. Thanks for you good luck. Hey the other thing is, You did the IVF so would you know if I had ET on the 17th, and say 4 days to implant, when would it show up in a HPT do you think. thanks hun

    Missy,

if it was a blast transfer, I wouldn't attempt a HPT before 13dpo. Blast transfers historically present with lower HCG levels than other pgs.

If it was a day 2 transfer, you could probably start testing from about 11dpo, but it would be early, so if you didn't get a positive, you can assume it may not be accurate.

And coz Charlie's been sick, I'm afraid I haven't had a chance to catch up on all the new threads, but if you or anyone else would like me to have a squizz at a question of yours, post to me in 'msgs for members' with a link to your post and I'll help if I can!
