Dna Fragmentation and Chemical Pregnancy

Hi everyone

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for last 18 months. I had 3 chemical pregnancies so far with light positives around 14dpo and bleeding starting at around 18dpo. We did various testings with FS and found 23% sperm DNA fragmentation which seems to explain the failed pregnancies. Other sperm parameters were within normal range and all my results were fine. I was wondering if there was anyone out there with similar experiences and any success stories. Thank you!

Sorry to hear your journey to have a baby hasn't been an easy one. I had a lot of chemical pregnancies. Too many to count really as many months id get positive pregnancy tests that failed to get darker and eventually fade and my AF would arrive. In addition to these I lost 5 pregnancies and am currently pregnant with my 5th baby so I have had a lot of success too.
Between my 2nd and 3rd children I had my worst time and it took around 2.5yrs to conceive our sticky baby. My husbands sperm was low and only 15% normal. There was motility issues also. Despite this it appeared the problem for my multiple chemical pregnancies and miscarriages/ectopic pregnancy was in actually fact due to an infection in my tube which was causing the uterus to be toxic and killing off the pregnancies. I had my tube removed, surgery in my remaining tube and many many weeks of antibiotics. Have you had any investigations for yourself? Often your looking at more then one problem.

Hi there. Sorry you are having such a hard time of this. My DH and I were in a similar type if situation. We did round after round of ivf, test upon test which always showed something else wrong, then we found out DH had 42% fragmentation. We were incredibly blessed because despite all the odds stacked against us, we have two beautiful, crazy little 3 year old. Don't lose hope xxx

Thank you for your reply and congratulations on your pregnancy! It does give me hope to hear that in spite of all your issues you had many successes as well. I have done various blood tests, hsg, ultrasound and cycle tracking, which all came out with regular results, but I don’t remember being checked for infections. Do you think this is something I could ask for? Thanks again.

Congratulations on your babies and thank you for the encouragement! Just wondering did you manage to decrease the fragmentation and if so what did you do? xx

We tried a combination of high dose Vit C and E, 1000mg a day of each. I don't know if it was that that made the difference for us but worth a try. Good luck
