    Do you still TTC naturally?

For those going through ART, do you still try to conceive naturally (ie tracking ovulation, timing of intercourse) even if your odds are low? Or do you think it's just pointless and setting yourself up for too much disappointment each month?

I ask because after seeing my gyno, I've questioned my treatment at a clinic. I was going for a 2nd opinion prior to seeing the gyno anyway, but some of his comments further put doubts in my mind.

But at the same time, I think is the gyno giving me false hope? did he fully read all my notes from my clinic? Is there any point being systematic again about ovulation and timing?

Our 2nd opinion appt with a new clinic is tomorrow, so one of the questions I'm going to ask is do we have any hope at all trying to conceive naturally? (our first FS said no, straight to IVF). We have tried two times now, and I'm pretty sure this month (our 2nd) is a no go. EAch time I have let myself get carried away with daydreaming about getting pregnant etc, and after thinking IVF was the only way, and then the gyno's comments, I think I put too much hope again in trying naturally and so it was really disappointing to know it didn't happen (this 1st attempt happened to coincide with the SIL telling us her IVF 2nd attempt worked, some might remember my post about that and not handling it well).

So do you still try and hope for a miracle?

Our IF is unexplained and after 4 failed IVF transfers we got our first ever BFP naturally after starting acupuncture. Unfortunately we lost it at just over 5wk, but it gives me hope that our current IVF may actually work!

    Hi incomplete

Try naturally as well sweety! I dont want to upset you and hope that this gives you strength and inspiration to keep going. We tried for our little miracle for 5 years. We had 12 rounds of fertility treatments all without any success. Like juniper76, we tried acupuncture and I got a BFP naturally 3 months later, our little angel was unviable and we knew from very early on BUT 3 months later, we again got a 2nd natural BFP and we now have a precious little 9 week old miracle baby. We had unexplained infertility but our FS gave us a less than 1% chance of ever conceiving naturally.

Miracles do happen and I truly hope you get yours soon xxx

We tried naturally between IVF cycles as well. I was "unexplained" so thought there was no reason not to. After 6 IVF cycles and close to 4 years, we got our BFP while I was waiting for AF to show to start a fresh IVF cycle ( i was at the end of a 6+month break from IVF).
I went through stages of charting and tracking everything though because it would do my head in. When we conceived I was tracking very closely as I was seeing a naturopath who wanted to look at my charts.
I hope you get your little miracle soon

thanks for the replies guys. We met with another specialist last night and got some clarification on our IVF history and it looks like chance of conceiving naturally is going to be very slim for us. Egg quality issue. But I think we'll still continue...miracles do happen.

I guess it depends on the issues you have

We still try during off cycles, but our issues rest with DH's sperm. He has less than 3% normal shapes, poor motility and antisperm antibodies. Any pregnancy than resulted from that would truly be miraculous.
