Just wondering if any of you lovelies can help me please.
DH and I went to the FS today to organise cycle no 2, and he has recommended that we do a 'Boost Cycle' this time.
Can anyone help and let me know the difference between the Boost and Down Reg cycles??
He mentioned that with a boost cycle, I would not have to take the pill ( which I am happy with, as I hate the effects the pill has on me). From all we could gather this was the only difference.
If anyone could help shed some light on this, it would be great.
I have only ever done boost cycles but from what i have gathered the only real different is you don't take the pill beforehand which makes the cycle a lot shorter as well. With my boost cycles i would just start the synarel day 2 after AF, the the puregon at day 3 and the EPU at day 15 and blasty transfer 5 days later. It means you can jump in a lot sooner and not have to take the pill all that time beforehand.
I thought that when i heard you describing it a few weeks ago... seems like the same thing to me. I've never done anything other than a boost cycle thankfully as the pill plays havoc with my epilepsy. I also don't think i would have the patience for a down regulated cycle.
It does sound like a flare cycle but perhaps check with your clinic.
I am in one at the moment and personally I have responded better to this than the 2 times on a down reg. My FS thinks the lucrin supressed my LH too much. However, she also cautioned me that there can be less control on growing the follies at similar rates and hence sizes with a flare.
There is quite a bit of info about flare cycles on IVF clinic websites.
Shannon, interestingly my FS doesn't put me on the pill for a down reg cycle. i am not sure of the difference. But like you I liked the shorter cycle, luckily I responded well to it.
Bestest of luck for your cycle hun, I it all goes fantastically with an awesome bundle of joy for you at the end.
