How to get a referal to a FS?

Just wondering how to get a referal to a fertility specialist? I have being seeing a Gyno for the past 12months for various reasons whilst ttc who I am not happy with. Just wondering when the time is right for us do I get a referal from the Gyno or my GP?

Get one from the GP, they last for 12 months, one from the gyno will only last 3 months, and you will have to get another one... Good luck... xo

yep i know our gyno referal only last for 3 months so better off getting one from your local gp lasts for 12 months or youll be forever running around chasing referals good luk hun.

Thanks all for your replies. I feel the Gyno isn't doing enough for us. I saw him after 12months ttc and he told me come back in a year then after my ectopic he said come back in a year after waiting 3 full cycles before ttc again which would be another 15months from now. I asked him if I can have the HSG done which he said he would but didn't think it was neccessary despite knowing my one tube left is surrounded by adhesions. I don't want to jump in too soon which is why I will wait another 6months from the time we can ttc again but I feel he is making us wait longer then neccessary. I didn't want to ask him for a referal to a FS and would prefer to ask the GP. I don't even know if he would give me one. Probably tell me to come back in 2yrs.
Thanks again for your replies. Ill speak to the GP if we haven't concieved aftyer 6months of trying again (which will be 2yrs from the time we started trying)

Emmy - you could always get a referal from your GP and see an FS just to sound out what their opinion is - without feeling like you need to do anything. My DH and I waited about 3 months from finding our from my Gyno that we needed to do IVF, before seeing the FS. After seeing the FS initaly, we waited another 6 months before going back to the FS to commence IVF - it then took us another 4 months to get started on our first cycle. Our FS was wonderful in terms of not pushing us to make decisions and was always available via phone if we had questions...sometimes it is just nice to know where things are at and what the options are. However, as Smithy says, lets hope you dont need the referal or the FS!
    Good luck.

Thanks for your replies again. I have decided to see a FS sometime early next year when we are ttc again. His/her opinion would be nice to know even if we don't go down that track for a while or have a miracle and don't need to go down that track. Can't hurt to see what they have to say or suggest.
