I will be offline for about a week

My internet service is getting terminated today and my home phone from tomorrow so I will offline probably from this arvo.

Optus has stuffed up the installation of the phone line at my new place so it's likely I will not have a home phone or internet until the 23rd of Oct. I will still have my laptop and mobile broadband though so will be able to log on every now and then, but for the most part, I will not be online. If you have something urgent you wish to discuss with a moderator, it may be wise emailing someone else for the next week. Or you can still email me, but just understand it may take a few days for me to respond.

Thanks BG. I am not finished packing yet though! Not much left but it feels like it's neverending.

And yep I'm still here. They told me the internet connection would be gone in an hour but it's been close to 3 hours now. <shrug> I'm not complaining!

Sushee - When we moved we decided to go with Optus. They said we couldnt get our broadband installed for at least two weeks. I said I couldnt wait that long because of work and they gave me dial up for free in the interim. Sure its slower but its something!

I tried that but it's not the DSL that's the issue, it's the phone line. When I first organised this, I told the guy I was moving in on the 12th, but the house was settling on the 11th - meaning I won't get the keys until at least 12.30pm. So what did the dufus do? He organised for the technician to come install the phone line on the morning of the 11th! Optus reckons if the techinician needs access to the house to complete installation, that we're stuffed and that all they can do at that point is reschedule my installation for the 19th or 23rd. So they MAY still get it going tomorrow, but it's LIKELY they won't.

Do you mean is the line in place from the previous owners? Yes it is, which is why I can't understand why they need access to the inside of the house. When we moved here to Willetton, no one actually came into the house to connect the phone. But they keep saying that it's likely they will need to go into the house. Does that sound right to you, caro?

I will be MIA from tomorrow night, but we've already set up the phone line and are simply transferring our internet which i think will only take a few days so i shouldn't be gone too long! But after that i will probably only be online once a day to check up as i have so much going on with settling in/re-painting/ttc/got rello's coming from overseas etc, you know how it is!?

Yep, I know how it is! I am looking at my (so far) 32 boxes and feel like crying everytime I think about having to unpack them.
