    Question Infertility no explanation

Has anyone been told that they are healthy and they can't find a cause for their infertility.

Definitely...that is what we were told!

It took us 3 years to eventually conceive...despite not having any identifiable reason for infertility...I did have a history of fibroids but was told this shouldn't be affecting my fertility...

Eventually I was prescribed clomid, was doing on-line charting (to get the timing right) and tried some pre-seed (sperm friendly lubricant) and got my first BFP ever!

Wishing you all the very best!

Yep, thats us. There is no medical reason to explain our infertility which I think can sometimes be worse. Dont get me wrong, I would hate for there to be something wrong with either one of us, but sometimes you just want that reason for "why is it not happening??"

    All the best

I know how you feel. My husband and I found out last year (just after my "2nd" Mum passed away) that he had no sperm what-so-ever. ?? He's had a biopsy and they still couldn't find anything.

I didn't want to believe it at first, I thought it was something that happened to other people, not me! All our friends had babies without even trying. It's tough, but you'll get through it!!

    Good luck

I remember reading a fertility magazine and it explained how right now it is unexplained but eventually you may find out the results. For me I have zona pellicida or thickening of the cell membrane with requires IVF and AH in order for the cell to adhere to the uterus. I think in the beginning I was driven by this desire to find out what was wrong. I'm sorry you have to venture on this path but you will meet some amazing women along the way. Advice... 1- start with a good Fertility specialist (RE- Reproductive endocrinologist in the U.S) open on the weekends. Make sure you like them and feel comfortable. 2 - read a ton of books 3 - be careful of gimmicks 4 - use caution with "natural cures"

We have been trying for 3 years and everything seems perfectly fine with either of us...

I do have a very mild endo which was discovered after a lap...then was put on Clomid for 1 cycle, I am now on my 1 cycle of IVF because I don't want to waste more time...so hopefully along the way, we will know what stopping us...or it could just be God's timing

Yup, Frustrating isnt it. We have unexplained infertility too!! Dont want to have anything wrong but it is hard as there is nothing to "FIX" as such. It is a waiting game now. This is more common than we are lead to believe. But good luck with your journey and hopefully it will be a short TTC time!

Blayz, you've hit the nail on the head. You don't actually want anything to be wrong but on the other hand if there WAS something at least you could say "Ah-HAH! We know where the problem and it is/isn't fixable".

We've been trying to 2 years, most recently with IUI. Everything is absolutely fine on all tests and scans - his side and mine - but nothin' happens.

I said to my husband this week "I think I'm broken" and he said "No darling. We're just old. See! I always know how to point out the positive to you!"

My ex husband and I had unexplained infertility. We tried for 8 years without success. One early miscarriage 3 months after coming off clomid (3 years of trying at that stage) and then I never conceived again.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant now with my new partner. It's been 9 months of trying without any drugs this time. I cut out coffee, cola about 4 months ago & trans fats about 6 to 8 weeks ago so I'm thinking that trans fats may have been the problem. There was an article in the Herald Sun that stated that just one serving of food that contains trans fat is believed to cause infertility in some women.

Just in case you are not aware, trans fats are commonly in store bought cakes & biscuits, pastries, pies and a lot of take away food, butter & some margerines. Give that a miss & you may just get lucky.... I truly believe cutting it out has done the trick for us.

What give up cakes and cookies ? How will I maintain this "pregnant looking" figure ? Oh right I have all those lovely drugs for that. Heck looked in the mirror today and damn I got the ponch going on and an a$$ to go with it. This IF journey sure made some stops at the fat farm for me.

I did give up diet coke though Ive been addicted for years. I wish I could loose another 8 and fit back in my wedding dress but I just dont want to be on a diet anymore why can't I enjoy a sandwich with out the CARB police arresting me and sentencing me to 5cm growth on my thighs..........

Hi Monnie - just wondering about the 'pre seed' you mentioned..... maybe helpful for our situation. Did your FS recommend it? I don't always have the good egg white mucous, and my naturopath thinks i'm quite acidic, and my pH could be damaging dh's little swimmers! Hope you're feeling well

We had unexplained infertility, NOTHING wrong with either of us, great sperm, clear tubes, no premature menopause, no immune problems nothing. But 7 IUI's and an unsuccessful IVF later, the RE said that he couldn't do much else for us and we could keep trying but it could be tomorrow or never. He said it is most likely a problem with implantation but they didn't have enough research into that yet.
Anyway I decided to use my one and only frozen embryo and then look into Chinese medicine instead and guess what.....22 mionths of trying and we got pregnant!
    Never give up................
