start clomid any time in cycle??

hi all,

i was just wondering when you get given clomid, could you start it during your cycle but before you are due to O? for example I am currently CD 45 with no sign of O and no idea when i will O. when i go to the fs in a few weeks and hopefully get some, will i have to just wait it out until i O or will i get given some drugs to induce AF or can i just take it whenever, providing i already havent o'd?

Mich,

You will need to wait until Day 4 or thereabouts of your cycle to start. You need to take it about a week to ten days before ovulation.

n2l - is there something i could take to bring on AF so i could get started earlier? i could have to wait months to end this cycle for all i know...??

also i have PCOS do you think the FS will just give me the clomid first off, or do a bunch of tests before giving me clomid?

You can take provera to enduce a bleed. Some FS's are happy to start clomid at any time in anovulatory women.

okay. i always ovulate in each cycle and have a 12day LP but it takes me AGES to ovulate.

Years ago when I first took Clomid the FS had me start mid-cycle as a blood test indicated ovulation was nowhere to be seen. I did O and got AF 2 or so weeks later, then took clomid from CD3-7 on the next cycle and conceived DS1.

i had to take it on day 2- day 6 of my cycle but when i went to see FS i had not got AF so i didnt start it he gave me a script to bring periods on so i could start the cholimd straight away

When I first saw my specialist because of my long cycles he was going to start me on any day of my cycle, I just had to have a bloodtest to make sure I hadnt or was about to ovulate myself - That was when I found out I was pregnant - but wasn't to last. The next time was after my D&C for the miscarriage. I had waited for AF for 3 months and still nothing so I was put on the birth control pill twice a day for 7 days then stopped it to bring AF on and then started clomid on day 3. I fell with my DD on that cycle!!

Sorta, kinda, maybe...

We've never tried to avoid a pregnancy happening. After a miscarriage in May froma natural pregnancy and a d&c last month from scary heavy bleeding, the gyne has given me clomid to see if it works. It didn't make me O before DD so it's not something I want to focus on. If it works, fantastic but if it doesn't, we simply aren't in a financial position to take it further so I am not allowing myself to get caught up in it too much. I am trying to live in the here and now because I know how emotionally taxing ttc is, how much I withdrew from Life before, and didn't want to withdraw from the DD we have because of the idea of having another kwim?

So yeah, we are sorta kinda maybe ttc - but then we probably have been sorta maybe kinda trying since DD was born...

Oh yeah I know what you mean,I could have written that post 18 months ago. LTTTC#1 sorta makes you want to protect your life and not jump back on the rollercoaster. Best of luck with it BG .
