    Levovist study

Anyone had one? It's similar to the dye test done for tubes (HSG?) And if so how much am I going to have to pay this time? I am in Melbourne. Thanks

Yep I had it done. Can't help you on the cost as I went public (about a 2 month wait) but I'm pretty sure the dye they use is exxy. Any questions you have, ask away. We were on our 22nd month TTC when I had it done (had it done in an 86 day cycle, a few days before O, DH and I didn't manage to DTD anywhere near O as it was such a crazy cycle). The next cycle later I was utd naturally. One tube was partially blocked but nothing major at all.

Thanks PZ, I read that the dye is about an extra $100 on top of the original test price so I'm guessing it's going to be super expensive!
    So all the usual questions:
    Does it hurt?
Do I have to take time off work? (other than procedure)
    How uncomfortable is it?

I took the day off work, I was a little uncomfy and leaky afterwards. My appointment was in the afternoon, so technically I could have worked in the morning. Probably after too, but I didn't wanna

Did it hurt? Yeah, for me it did. Nothing major, but I had to breathe deep when they injected the dye. Some people it hardly bothers them at all. But for me, it wasn't pleasant. I also had like 2 students there as well as the doctor and the nurse. The doc was also pretty rough with the dildo-cam

Sounds bearable. The price scares me more! I will call in the morning and ask how much they charge.
And I hope I don't have a rough dildo cam experience!

ETA: I have been told to have it done on CD2, which will be about 40 days away judging by my crapola cycles. Does this sound right?

Ooh, I'm gonna hijack your thread to ask some more questions if that's alright

How did you get the test referral - GP or FS?
Did you have to be at a certain stage in your cycle, or just 100% sure you weren't pregnant?

    What's the basic procedure outline?

    No worries Keike
From what I have been reading, if you have irregular cycles the earlier on in a cycle, the better. Which explains why I need to go on CD2. Other than that it says that before O is recommended. You'll have to wait for PZ for the rest.............

Am I right in thinking it's just a HyCoSy with levovist dye??

If so, I have had one....not sure if it was levovist or not??

I thought it hurt a bit more than I expected but not unbearable. I had cramping afterwards.

My FS referred me. I would think it would need to be gyno or FS.

I reckon it cost about $600 but the Medicare rebate was really low....

Yep the earlier in your cycle the better. But having a cycle going on for 70 days with no end in sight, I talked to the doc and I weighed up my own risks (like if by some freak chance I was preg) and decided to do it. We almost induced AF until I O'ed after the procedure.

I got my referral from our FS. Also a script for clomid and whatever it was to induce AF (can't remember what). When they did the scan before it all started they said my follies were ready and I'd O in the next week or so.

I am going from memory (it was a year and a half ago) so I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure it was around that

Where are you getting it done?

Had a look over some old stuff... I think I had an extra procedure done at the same time (biopsy) so maybe that's why mine was higher???

I will call them in the morning before work and ask. Thanks ladies, you know it would be so cool if I just fell PG waiting for my next cycle to start! I have bought more opk's from eBay so the POAS game begins again.....

Police checks? Wow! I went through the Royal Women's Hospital fertility Centre and definitely never had a police check!

Is that out of pocket? I really don't understand why it is so expensive .
