Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Hello ladies! Long time no post from me! Not even sure what my avvy looks like anymore... ;)
So I'm back on the IVF bandwagon to TTC #3. Yesterday I had my day 21 set-up appointment bonanza, woohoo - got to drop my pants twice! Paperwork is done, schedule is set for HRT FET.
Seeing as last cycle (resulting in DS2) my lining was on the thin side and hormone levels were pretty low, I'll just go straight to the top levels of progesterone/combo pessaries after transfer this time ( yay, so looking forward all the inserting and leaking  ) My lovely FS lady offered to put a girl back in this time - not sure if she can tell if either of the embryos are girls, but I would dearly love a little girl to finish off my family dream. Or another sweet boy. Or twins. Or any healthy baby really!
Now just to wait for AF...

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Hi Ree :) hope you're in for a short stay here :)
I had my CD10 follicle tracking ultrasound this morning, I have 1 lonely dominant follie at 16mm on my left ovary. Which is great, I have no right fallopian tube so it was a sigh of relief when she said my right ovary hadn't responded! Glad there's one big follie, my fs said if it looked like I might have more than one at ov then we would have to hold off. He has a strict policy on that which I am fine with (not sure how fine I would be if it came down to it though!).
Not sure what my lining thickness was? Hopefully the nurse will tell me when she calls today to let me know what the dr thinks. I live a little while away from the ivf clinic here in Tas, so have to go to a third party for ultrasounds and they don't tell us much!
I'm getting such confusing results on my OPKs, on ICs I'm getting almost no test line-their packet says 20miu sensitivity too so I actually expected false positives. On FR I'm getting dark lines but not quite positive... Not really sure what is going on there! Hopefully my fs can give me some indication of when he thinks I'll ov.
Pretty relieved that 50mg clomid and 1g metformin have been enough for me to get some response, the side effects at that dose were enough for me, the nausea and daily headaches were a bummer!

Thanks Frog, I hope so too :D
That's great that you've responded well so far with a nice big follie, well done!
Don't know what's going on with those OPKs, I find them so uncertain and fiddly to interpret. Let's hope the FS has a clearer answer for you soon!

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Congrats adgirl, how exciting!
The nurse from my clinic called on behalf of the fs on Friday, and said that ultrasound looked good, and that he thought I would ov on Saturday. I thought that was odd, I hadn't had a positive opk yet and no fertile CM. Told us to BD at least Friday and Saturday.
DP obviously didn't understand the importance of that, and promptly fell asleep on Friday night! I was pretty upset about it, but we still BDd yesterday, and then I think I had a positive opk today.
Still don't really trust what I'm seeing with the OPKs, got +ve this afternoon with a Discovery brand one (very similar to first response), but still negative on ICs and CB digi (pink not purple).
I guess all I can do is keep BD daily now until I get temp shift... hopefully I'm not so unlucky that I get a follie of that size but then not actually ov! If today's +ve opk is correct, I usually ov the next day, so this would officially be the shortest ever! Bring on the TWW. Glad we are going to Melb for a long weekend to keep my mind off it.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Welcome Frog and Dee, and big congrats, Adgirl. :)
We've been putting off the next and probably last stim cycle, having just moved house. I might go for the cycle after next, but I'll just see how I feel by cd1. My cycles have been so badly screwed up since the mc/D&C, I feel like my body maybe needs the break. Thinking of trying some Chinese medicine in the mean time...

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Hi ladies. I was hoping to join the thread again...
We are looking at ivf again a little later this year or early next year. Currently just plodding along and hoping for a miracle! Currently CD 3. We are ore off to see the GP tomorrow to get a new referral to the FS and are thinking about discussing Clomid with him in the interim.
Will try and read back as much as possible and see where everyone is up too x
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Welcome Jasmine. Fingers crossed you get a natural miracle.
Pholi have you tried acupuncture yet? If this next cycle doesn't work I think Im going to look in to it. Unfortunately there arent any linked with my clinic so could be a bit of investigating to find someone specialized in ivf.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Thanks for the welcome Jane! I am a big believer in acupuncture during ivf. We had acupuncture during our last FET which resulted in our DD. Fingers crossed you can find someone who has good knowledge of ivf.
I saw my GP today and discussed options regarding starting another round of ivf. We used up all our frozen embryo's last time round so will be starting from scratch with a fresh stim cycle. Aiming to get started in October. As suspected the GP recommended we start clomid this cycle and continue with it till we see the FS. So for the next few months we shall plod along with clomid. Is it ok to stay with you ladies in here? I checked out the TTC with clomid thread but it doesn't look like anyone has posted in there in a long while.. X

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Thanks for adding me to the list Tubbypuff :)
Frog did you end up getting a temp shift?
Pholi how are you going? I have done lots of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in the past. I believe it worked for me, but if not it certainly helped clear my head space.
So I called my FS today and found out we can get an appointment in as soon as 2 weeks, but was a little disappointed to find out their fees have increased a bit since we were there last! There is a 'low cost' ivf clinic that has opened up closer to home and they charge about 1/3 of the out of pocket cost. I'm not sure if they are worth investigating or if you kinda 'get what you pay for' so to speak? Has anyone ever used / investigated a low cost clinic?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Jasmine. I am with genea which is pretty expensive but they also have good success rates. I would want to know their success rates for live births at the low cost clinic before switching. Because if you uo having to do morr cycles than your current clinic then you might not end up in front.
Afm I have my FS appointment for post op check up and also to talk about what this blood clotting disorder means moving forward. Cant wait for some answers. But think I also have the flu so feeling a littly blah today.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Thanks for your advice Jane. Deep down I know that sticking with my current FS is likely going to result in the best outcome. I have done a little research on the low cost clinic this afternoon, found out that one of the ways they save money is by using fewer meds and stimulating fewer follicles. Last time we got 10 eggs and ended up with 3 embryos to freeze. Out of those 3 embryos 2 failed to implant and 1 is our precious DD. If we're going through another stim cycle I want as many follicles as (safely) possible!!!
When is your next appointment with the FS? I can imagine you would be going crazy waiting for answers. Fingers crossed your blood clotting disorder is easy to overcome. I was found to have some blood clotting disorder (can't remember what though), FS put me on asprin for ivf cycles and until 12 weeks into pregnancy. I was also on Prednisone but not sure if that was for something else.
Hope you start feeling better soon x

And welcome everyone new!
Sorry I haven't been very talkative, I have been reading everyone's posts (and updating the list daily) I've just been a bit preoccupied! Had my birthday last week (eek) and have been preparing to start TAFE this semester (enrolling tomorrow!!)
Hope everyone is doing well :)
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Hi Jasmine :D
Fingers crossed for some good news tomorrow Jane!
Tubby you have been busy, hope you had a great birthday! What will you be studying at Tafe?
AF arrived on Monday, so that puts me at CD3 today! On the progynova and prednisolone tablets now. I'm finding my temper is a lot shorter than normal, and I'm having some little hot flushes, is this a side-effect do you think? I didn't have this last time..
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Thanks ReeRee, my birthday was alright, quiet haha not how I expected my 25th to be but you get that!
I'll be studying Cert 3 in Rural Operations this semester, and hopefully on to Animal studies next year. On the way to hopefully doing a Vet nursing course :)

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
* dropping in *
jasmine00 - one of my friends used a low cost IVF clinic in south brisbane and it was lower costs for a few reasons.
they did lower stimulation and only ever did fresh cycles. They never froze any eggs which is one of the ways they save money.
They did egg pick up with just meds like valium to relax you so no hospital costs involved. (my friend said it was uncomfortable not super painful)
they are also work around the clinic schedule more than a persons cycle - they do collections and transfers on certain days of the week only. So they manipulate your cycles around those days.
i know it doesnt sound like it is a very good clinic and i know it definately wouldnt suit everyone - but my friend did end up falling pregnant on the first cycle at that clinic. I think it depends on every ones needs.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Aligatorsmum thanks for the extra info honey! After much discussion we are just going to stick with our current FS. I have a low ovarian reserve and lining issues so after reading the 'fine print' on the 'low cost' clinic website I doubt we would be suitable for their program.
Tabbypuff great to hear you enjoyed your birthday. All the best with your studies.
Jane I have been thinking of you today. I really hope you get some answers.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Had my FS appointment. Am 95% healed after my surgery But my transfer has been pushed back for at least one more month. I have to get tested for diabetes cos I failed my first test. Depending on the results I may need to get that tested before I can do my next cycle. My blood clotting disorder means I need to take daily clexane injections from the time of transfer until 6 weeks after baby is born (that is if the cycle is successful). Feeling a little overwhelmed and wishing it didn't have to be this hard but I guess you don't choose the body you're born with, you just have to find a way to live and work with it.

Hi ladies, I'm just checking in quickly, we are in melb this weekend to see Disney on ice and I have a manic 2 year old that wants to go NOW!
I am 3 dpo-FF confirmed ov on cd14- my earliest ever. Fingers crossed we caught it.
Sorry to see that your transfer has been pushed back Jane :(
Happy birthday for last week Tubbypuff!
Jasmine I'd never heard of low cost clinics, sounds like you do get what you pay for from what the others said. I'd be dubious too if they weren't providing the same level or types of services as others.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception 2015 #3
Hi Girls, looks like I will be joining you again. for those of you who don't know me I lost my daughter at 15.3 weeks due to cystic hygroma. I birthed her and got to hold her but obviously am still pretty traumatised over the whole situation. I am scared to be pregnant again but know I will regret not trying again in years to come. we saw our fertility specialist yesterday and he is getting me to do a set of bloods to see where we are at and will probably start letrozole next cycle. He said whilst my cycles have been relatively normal we need to jump on my fertility now to have the best chance. I have done many clomid cycles for ovulation indication but never letrozole - have any of you girls had success with it?
