Thanks ladies. After ignoring my birthday and mothers' day earlier this month, DH bought me some long stem roses, emptied and filled the dishwasher (small things make me happy!) and brought home some vietnamese for dinner (which he doesn't like as much as me) and wine (which he doesn't drink at all) after work. Can't complain...

Rai, FX for a happy little miracle before you get to the IVF!

Emma, hope you're feeling better now. GL with your cycle!!

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception April/May 2014

My FS's take on it is that AMH and FSH levels between them will help him to determine starting levels for IVF. One thing I wanted to (and did) discuss with him was why my egg collection cycle was 'not looking good, weight have to cancel' in a Monday, then on Wednesday , it was 'great, egg collection will be friday', then we only got 3 eggs, when the count of follicles had been much higher .

He said it definitely wasn't rushed to get egg collection find before the weekend , but for a first cycle, the dosages are a bit conservative, and he needs to review my find before answering any more fully. I was happy with that - he didn't gave all the dosage and measurement info in front of him, after all. But this relatively low response suggests we need to start with bigger doses this time, and these tests will help him decide how much bigger.

I am philosophical about these things. If it's low, it's low, and knowing or not knowing it won't change it.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception April/May 2014

Juniper, lovely about your wedding anniversary. Glad DH stepped up! Hope it was a fun night! Sorry, inappropriate. As for the double standard issue, I guess people just have to know what they're own limits are, and be honest with themselves, so it is good you guys are really clear about it.

Pholi, sounds like doing the AMH test is worthwhile then. Do NOT get discouraged about it, though, if you can help it. I know of a few girls with very low AMH who have become pregnant, both naturally and through IVF. That test was a real kick in the guts for me, esp as it went down (ever so slightly) when they re-tested, so I felt like it was just plummeting, and it was low (1.3). Also, I see from your sig that you lost a twin. I am very sorry. I recently miscarried identical twins at 8 weeks.

Rai, yes FX for a miracle, but also for IVF!

AFM, I am ok. Massive thrush, and in the nipples too which is crazy. I had it really bad for my daughter when I was breastfeeding, and I still feel that pain in the ducts to this day, but it has got really shocking, possible due to all the hormones with the pregnancy and perhaps also diet (I did drink beer (which I never do) and eat heaps of bread when I was feeling super low).

    peace and love,
    WW

It is quiet in here, The only news I have is that I see my fs tomorrow morning to write up my ivf forms, have decided to do ICSI with assisted hatching and maybe embrio glue.
I'm hoping to get lots of eggs to freeze for a FET if I need to so going to ask her to not be conservative at all as this is my one and only ivf that I will be able to do so fingers crossed.
Oh I'm also going to get 2 put back in that's if I have enough eggs and everything goes according to plan which it rarely does but you can only hope and pray.

    Pholi,
My last ivf cy it was the same as yours! They said I had 8 follies and when I woke up I found out they only got 3 eggs.
Look up empty follicals online. There seems to be a protocol that involves a pituitary down Reg drug protocol. That can work better for some who get a high number of "empty" follicles. Bit from what I'm told the follicals are not actually empty but the egg is no good so no egg comes away.
Dr sher talks a lot about it online if you wanted to read.

As for me I'm just waiting to O probably on weds. One last try!

And then we looking at pgd ivf :-/ to see if it's my eggs lol (probably!)

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception April/May 2014

GL tomorrow, Rai! I hope you come away with a really good plan. I like the sound of embryo glue.

Sarah and Pholi, best of luck to you both. Sarah, so you are thinking of PGD? We are too. I have a friend who is an embryologist and she gave me so many questions to ask, and then I realised I wouldn't even really be able to interpret the answers, like "what is your arresting rate?" .... I don't know, I feel overwhelmed. Any info or advice you have would be much appreciated.

AFM things have been hard with my chronic pain (due to stress most likely) and mood a bit irritable (due to stress/resumption of that wonderful hormonal cycle - CD 1 for me today, never so relieved that AF started in my life, about 3 weeks after my D & C for the miscarriage). I was also thinking of starting a list of things I like about LTTTC. Any takers? Just wanted to enjoy my life as is.

    Okay, here goes:
-meeting lovely ladies on BB forum
-taking care of my body with healthy eating & relaxation exercises
-being able to drink the odd glass of wine
-working towards a goal (love goals)
    -time out during acupuncture
    -getting support from kind friends/family/doctors
-reading some really awesome mindfulness books like "How to be Sick" by Toni Bernhard (this really speaks to me with my chronic pain, but it addresses myriad issues that really apply to any health problem)
-the anaesthetics for the egg pick ups (I am putting it out there, I love them!)
-noticing how much I can relax by just breathing into the present moment

    Anyone want to add?
