Hi ladies.
Sorry I haven't been posting. I've been just trying to sort myself out in the last week. I am ok as long as I don't talk about it. Once I start talking the tears come every time. How long did it take most of you to stop being so upset after miscarriages? I am flying overseas tomorrow so I hope getting away helps my husband & me. Had a bt this morning and my hcg is still over 1000 a full week after d&c so that's not good for my body getting back to normal. My acupuncturist told me hcg needs to be below 25 before you start cycling again. My aim now is to be pregnant by my birthday in may ( not liking my chances though at this rate).
Faye - so sorry to hear you might be overstimulated again. What dosage has your clinic got you on? Are you on gonal-f? I was recommended the same advise as me4ever to drink as much fluids as possible & protein drinks. I went to the chemist & brought sustagen hospital strength. I don't have pcos but I still ended up with 19 follicles & was originally on gonal-f 150mg but was changed to 100mg after 3 days as wasn't well.
Juniper - wow 4 follicles that's great. All we need is for one to work from the iui Monday. Fx for you.
So sorry furbabies & myturn for bfns. I just wish we could all get bfps and they stick around the whole nine months. I want all of us to be happy! Life is just not fair!
Beau I'm on gonal f with 200 as my dosage. Last cycle was 375 and yet somehow I have more follicles than last time. I've taken me4ever's advice and am drinking heaps of fluids and protein drinks so I'm desperately hoping this can help before Mondays blood test. I don't know how I'll cope with another cancelled cycle :(
I wish you all the best with your trip and I hope your body gets back to normal soon :)
Beau- so sorry for what you're going through. My HCG took about 5 weeks to get under 10 and that was after my second d&c (I had retained products and an infection) so it was a slow process. In all honesty I was a mess until after the end of my first period, which was 7/8 weeks after the 2nd D&C. That bleed was very difficult, as I should have been 20 weeks pregnant, but was bleeding instead, but it ws a turning point for me and I started feeling stronger emotionally after that. Time doesnt heal everything, but it helps. Hugs xxx
Faye- good luck I hope you can keep the OHSS at bay xxx
Good luck everyone else!
Beau, I didn't have b/w to monitor my hcg, but I still had clearly +HPT at 1 week after the d&c. By 2 weeks the HPTs were BFN. On the emotional side, I had to tell our new FS the chromosomal results last week (when discussing our history) and I have to admit I choked up a little. I didn't cry, but it wouldn't have taken much to tip me over the edge. It has been 13 months since our d&c. I couldn't talk about it without crying until the EDD passed (6.5 months), but I am a very emotional person to begin with, so it's normal for me to take longer than average to heal emotionally. It's still very early days for you. It took me almost a month to dig myself out of the dark depression that followed my d&c. At one week post-d&c, I was having a total meltdown at work in my boss' office because someone had taken my chair while I was on sick leave and replaced it with their broken one. Not the first thing that was taken from my desk (heck, even my original desk was taken and I was shifted to a "temporary" desk, which I still occupy over a year later), but on that day it was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak... Funnily enough, people stopped taking my stuff after that. I think I have a reputation now...
Faye, I was told that the theory behind the protein is that it may help support cellular integrity. With severe OHSS, your cells start leaking fluids, which builds up in places the fluid doesn't belong. The protein is supposed to strengthen the cell walls and reduce the leakage. The increased water consumption is also related to the fluid build-up, but in a different way. If you are well hydrated, your body flushes fluids out of itself more effectively. If you are dehydrated, your body retains fluids. If you have excess fluid building up, you want your body flushing those fluids out as efficiently as possible, hence the need to increase your water consumption. It's important that you stick to hydrating fluids - don't drink things like tea, soft drink, etc which will dehydrate you - stick with water and/or sports drinks designed to increase hydration. Neither measure will prevent OHSS if your body is determined to go there, but each will reduce your risk (and hopefully severity) in its own way. My clinic recommends a high protein diet and 3 litres of water per day, commencing the day you start the FSH and continuing until the end of the cycle. Given your OHSS last time, I'm surprised you weren't on 150iu this time? That's a common starting dose for IVF (for PCOS or good responders). You could even have gone down to 100iu if you had wanted to be cautious. (ps. I'm on 200iu of gonal-f this cycle too! Also, I'm sorry I didn't write this out for you earlier - I didn't have time until now.)
Juniper thank you for that info, very helpful. I think they put me on a high dose because of low ovarian reserve I guess they hadn't expected me to respond so well the first time and then their theory was to try the antagonist cycle this time round. I have to say I'm really frustrated that the info about 3 litres fluid and high protein wasn't given to me by my FS, I would think that was important to know considering the last cycle. I guess it all comes down to my estrogen level on Monday so will keep you all updated then. Heading away camping this weekend so going to try my hardest to not think about it although every time I inject more gonal f I'm going be wondering if its just a waste of time.
Faye, I've never had a FS mention those things. It was the nurse who did our interview before our first IVF that mentioned and explained it. Have a great time camping! Keep up the fluids and try not to over-do things. Isn't it funny how 2 of us with low OR on the same dose of the same med and essentially the same protocol end up with such vastly different results! Given how you stim, I'm sceptical that your OR is really as low as they suspect. Whilst it's frustrating to be in this situation, having more eggs than you thought has got to be a good thing, right?
I had the same thought Juniper, it does make me wonder if the results were right. And if they were right I'm wasting a lot of eggs each cycle! Oh well there's still hope I guess, they said I can be a little bit higher that normal range because they can trigger me with Synarel so bit higher chance of saving this cycle... Not getting my hopes up though...
Thanks girls
You have made me feel a bit more normal now.
Juniper - wow 4 follicles! Fingers crossed nr 4 grows heaps over the next few days. And hoping this IUI is the last one until you're starting for nr 3?! :)
Beau - My HCG took about a month as well to be done to 0. Emotional healing took a lot longer, but went on a holiday and then got engaged and needed to organise a wedding in less than 6 months, so I suppose I could say distraction helps a lot! It took about 2 months for it not to feel so raw and painful anymore. That didn't mean the due date wasn't painful and the months leading up to it. Especially as I had some surprise BFP's within my family. Take your time. Enjoy your time with your husband! xx
Good luck Juniper! Hope they are all good follies!
How you going beau?
Good luck faye
Best wishes to everyone else.
Afm. I'm just trying to keep losing weight!
And I reckon I could count at least 10 ladies I know who have all announced their pregnant in the last couple of weeks! Aargh

Hi girls, sorry just a quick question. Looks like I'm probably going to be doing a cycle next month :(
Does anyone have any experience of travelling (for work) within australia during a cycle. It will prob be during stimming and I'm scared they'll say I can't do a cycle at all. Has anyone heard of clinics letting you do blood tests at another clinic for a few days in another city? They must all know each other from conferences and stuff.
Good luck to everyone !!!
Just popping in to say
Lyra stardust: we went away right in the middle of a stim in November, I had no monitoring at all (was gone for a week), if I had of been home I would have had a couple of blood tests and scan). The nurses were freaking out but it was my 3rd cycle and the fs was confident I wouldn't get overstimulated so he agreed to doing nothing (because I didn't want to spend my holiday running around doing tests)
I got back on the Saturday, had a scan Monday and epu the Thursday so it all worked fine for me. However the nurses can always fax a form to a pathology where you are going to if they really want you monitored
Good luck to everyone in here :)
Sneaking in.. Lyra I live 6 and a half hours from my clinic so just go into the local IMVS with my forms and they put the results on the computer. Having said that my IMVS only does testing for certain things so the others would have to be sent to a bigger clinic over night. My clinic would get the results the next day. I dont see why you cant go into any IMVS where you are going away too.
Sneaks out...
Hi juniper can you put me in tww as 7 days po ta.

Faye, crap! Sorry to hear that. I hope there's a way to still make it work. :goodluck:
Afm, IUI done this morning...
Thanks for updating the list, Juniper! Good luck with the IUI! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that this is it! xxx
Faye - Am so sorry :( What 'd the nurse say?
Welcome Kel and good luck!
Hi to everyone else!
The nurse said we should be able to continue but most likely a "freeze all" cycle depending on blood test results. They can trigger me with Synarel which is safer so another blood test Wednesday and if all good pick up with be on Friday... Fingers crossed
I'm keeping my fingers, knees and toes crossed for you Faye!!!!
Freeze-all sounds much better than cancelling and much safer than doing a transfer. FX for you!
Thanks me4ever and looking good for you, I'm keeping everything crossed for you :)
Juniper, absolutely what I thought, would love to have transfer done but will take freeze all over canceling any day! Good luck for you too - FX for a successful outcome for you :)
Faye, there are some who recommend FETs over fresh transfers anyway. The idea is that the fresh cycle puts a lot of stress on the body, which could lead to sub-optimal conditions. They think that letting the body recover from the stress of the stims and EPU can produce better outcomes. It's not necessarily a good option for those of us who don't get many eggs (because the losses associated with freezing/thawing become significant), but if I were responding like you I'd be quite happy to take that approach, even if there were no risk of OHSS.
That makes sense Juniper, they said if the estrogen levels are under control they'll still do a transfer but it's highly unlikely anyway. I think of the 30 follicles some were still only small so there'll more than likely be about 16 and of those they'll be happy if even only half of them made it to freeze... Oh and a bonus for me was they asked me if I was happy to go to Bacchus Marsh for EPU instead of Ballarat as it would be completely free - saves me about $900.00!
At least there is a possibility of a silver lining Faye! FX you can get a huge haul to freeze, rest up & get to transfer next month!
Krikkit & Juniper wishing you all the best xx
Yes I'm very grateful for that silver lining Joe :) just got my blood results back and my estrogen level is 8,000. I don't know how that compares to what it should be but at this point we're still going ahead with freeze all. Half dose of gonal f for next 2 days and blood test Wed morning. If all goes well trigger Wed night and pick up Friday. Just taking it a day at a time which I've learnt is all you can do in all of this.

Just a quick one from me. I've been in hospital since last Thursday with a 4x5cm abscess on my left ovary and chocolate cysts that burst on both ovaries (aka endometrioma). I've also had a bad infection with fevers and been on really strong IV ABs.
They are letting me go home this afternoon. Yippee!!!!
I am still pretty week and on two oral ABs. I need to have a follow up US in a week.
TTC is off for the next few weeks I guess. Mind you I have pretty much given up anyway.
Hope everyone is well. I'm a bit lost as to where everyone is at in their cycle.
Wow N2L - you poor thing... I suppose that was the bad pain you had, about last time you were posted? You've had a rough time there. Sending you big hugs and healing vibes! Rest up! xx
Wow N2L, that explains the pain you were in! I hope you feel better soon and I bet it'll be nice to get home!!
Geez N2L! Sure explains the pain you were in. Rest up hun xx
