afm- still a tad sore, i'm having a bit of bleeding, like a light period. Which I know if normal, but I didn't have any yesterday and now i've had quite a bit today and really sore. Just wondering if it's normal for the bleed to come and go? Maybe I over did it yesterday with going to a friends for dinner?

Thanks Treenie, I'm trying to remember about after my lap as I know I bled for quite some time but can't remember if it was on and off... I wouldn't think it would be an issue. It's a shame they didn't find any direct answers for you.

AFM I'm feeling great since EPU, no bleeding or pain since Friday other than slight pain last night. Went back to my normal hour long walk with the dog tonight and no worries. Will be checking in with the lab tomorrow afternoon and see how our embies are going.

treenie, I bled for 2 weeks after each of my laps. The first time I bled for 5 days, stopped for 4 days and then started bleeding again. When it re-started, I thought it was AF starting early (I had my lap at O time), but the bleeding tapered off again after another 5 days and then AF started for real (so I was bleeding 3 weeks all up). The second time I had my lap during AF and I bled for 12 days straight. I also had the stop start thing going on after my d&c. I don't think it would be a concern at this point unless you had some other sign of a problem (eg fever, smelly discharge, etc), but if you're worried it's always worth giving your Dr a call to ask the question. Btw, if you want to see the charts for my 2 lap cycles, they're on my FF homepage ("Chart" link in signature) - cycle starting 23 Feb 2010 for lap #1 and cycle starting 30 Jul 2012 for lap #2.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Is it normal to be scared? I am not sure what it is exactly but anyway.
Yesterday we were driving home and I was just overcome with sadness and sat crying. DH didn't notice straight away, I just needed a hug. We got home not long after he noticed but then he just goes about the place like I didn't have a moment. When we went to bed I tried to talk to him and told him I just needed a hug. He said he didn't know what to say but I didn't need him to say anything, just needed a hug. It took him until this morning to do it :(
I tried to explain that I feel like I am trying to figure out if there is anything I am doing / eating / drinking that is causing us to have less chance of getting pg but for all my efforts, it upsets me that FS told him to have 1 or 2 days with no beer but he did not take it seriously. I am not saying he drinks a lot but he does have a couple every day.
I also looked through my paperwork and trying to see where things are at from the tests I have had, now that I know a bit more. I had AMH tested 14 months ago and level was 37.9, I am starting to wonder if I should get another test or if that would be pointless. The form said possibility of PCOS and chance of OHSS in a stim cycle. I am starting to wonder if delaying the Lap has meant we have had an extra year of heartache. I guess I will know more later today (I hope)

So sorry for the ranty 'me' post. If I didn't have you girls I would be going crazy xx

Hi ladies. I hope to get to know you as I rejoin the FET process (hopefully in March).

Blood tests and check up ultrasound complete. Just now waiting for my body to do what it does and the amazing docs to help me add to my beautiful family.

My basic history is:
No luck for 5 years.
hysteroscopy - fallopian tube removal/ scarred ovary - from ruptured appendix (years and years ago).
IVF cycle - all embryos frozen due to polyp found. 6 beautiful frosties.
polyp removed.
natural FET cycle and a BFP:birthday2: (he's now a beautiful big 14 month old).

So my latest ultrasound was to make sure another polyp has not grown. Thank goodness it has not. The chances of us getting UTD naturally are next to zero so we're not wasting time again. We wasted 5 years before. Not again!

I just called the lab to check on our embies and they are freezing 4 of the 10 today and the other 6 they are continuing to culture for a few more days, at this stage they're not sure if they'll survive the freezing/thawing process. At least we know we have a minimum of 4 attempts and FX a few more. They are very happy with our results so far... I have to call Friday morning to check on the rest :)

Thanks for the feed back faye and juniper, lap was done with af being like 4 weeks late (I think I may have essentially skipped af again like one other time) so i'm pretty sure this bleed is af. I have the same crampy that I get, thank god i've still got some pain meds!

The doc told me that my left ovary had an ovulation cyst, so I would have just recently ovulated, but I forgot to ask how long before had I would have O'd. Would anyone happen to know roughly how long an ovulation cyst on an ovary would last?

I know it's all for the good!, but so far I don't know anyone else who has been made to lose weight before starting, I also know a couple of ladies who are bigger and have done ivf no probs. ???

kbudgie, sorry to hear about the endo. It's a nasty disease. FX cleaning it up will be the magic ingredient you've been missing thus far. It was certainly a big help for us!

Nic, I'm too overweight for some clinics/Drs, but all 3 of my FSs have allowed me to go ahead (have said losing weight would be beneficial, but not a requirement to proceed).

Nic I too am overweight, and haven't been old to lose any, but that all loss is good.... Although my BFF was told to be at 100 before they could start, but she got preg naturally in the end....

Speaking of, weight loss is going no where, definitely feeling like a failure.... :(

Me too, myturn. Been pretty good about avoiding sugar all month and nada! In the past, cutting out sugar was enough for a slow, but steady, weight loss. Been so discouraged that I have been bad and had some sugar the last few days. Stupid part is I lose weight easily when pg!! :wall:

:hello: everyone else

not much happening here, crampy with af, sore tummy muscles and itchy incision sites, but at least i'm able to move around a bit more freely now. I'm glad i'm not pushed for time as to when I have to go back to work.

Sorry but I have another all about me post.... AF has arrived after only a 3 week cycle, EPU was only last Friday so now I'm not sure whether I need to worry about a short LP or if my body is just out of whack from the IVF. This would've meant if I was having a transfer AF may of beaten us to it or arrived 1 or 2 days after transfer! Do you think it's worth a call to FS to discuss??? This has never been an issue for me before, I've always had a regular 28 day cycle pre IVF. On the flip side at least the countdown to FET has started, I have to have a full natural cycle first. (CD1 for me today please Juniper)

IVF nurse just called me to make an appointment for the next step and to let me know that 4 of our embies haven't survived but there's still hope for another 2 as well as the 4 we have frozen. I mentioned that AF had arrived early and she said it was strange but it doesn't matter. She also mentioned how important it is to be careful about falling pregnant! I said but all the eggs are gone and she said no there would've still been some that they didn't get so I needed to be very careful for a week or so following EPU. (that would've been handy information to be told earlier). Well DH and I DTD a couple of nights ago (I guess I should've thought about that at the time but the possibility of falling pregnant naturally hasn't crossed my mind for over 12 months) so i'm really hoping this is AF and not an implant bleed as I would hate to think more than 1 egg could have fertilised naturally - very little chance of that though...I hope! Now I'm scaring myself!

Probably because it's not impossible for us to conceive naturally - just very low chances with DH's low count. I did have endo but was removed in September last year...

Faye, I'm surprised AF showed up so soon (5dpo). I would have expected something like 8dpo for an IVF cycle with no luteal support. I would definitely say it's because of the IVF though, so try not to worry about it being a new problem. When an egg is retrieved during EPU it causes damage to the follicle, which in turn means the corpus luteum is somewhat compromised. That's why they put us on progesterone after transfer - because the EPU reduces our bodies' ability to produce its own. When you don't have a transfer, and thus don't use any progesterone supplements, you end up with a short LP. 4 days seems extreme, but something around 7 days is quite common. Also, if AF has arrived, I don't think I'd be worrying about a natural conception - your lining is breaking down so there's nowhere for an embryo to implant. Also, 5dpo is too early for implantation (usually happens 7-10dpo), so I wouldn't be worried about it being an implantation bleed either.

Also, in addition to the IVF cycle length being different to your normal 28-day cycle, please be aware that some women find that O can be delayed in the following cycle, so you may have a longer-than-normal cycle this cycle. I found I usually O'd a week late in the cycle after an IVF and my LP was a few days shorter too. My theory is that it takes the ovaries a while to recover from the stress the IVF puts on them. It's not a permanent change, just a temporary one.

Thanks for the explanation Juniper - you are always such a wealth of knowledge! It's great for me as this is still all farely new and I'm quite clueless with all those kind of specifics. I was thinking the same about implantation, it was only Monday night so far too early for implantation. At least now I understand why LP has been so short & FS wasn't too concerned about it. I have an appt on the 11th March to discuss FET cycle. They are talking about using clexane from day 3 to 5 I think she said. I'm about to Dr Google and see what that is... Thanks again Juniper...

From what i'm reading about clexane it doesn't sound right so I could have that wrong. I guess I'll find out on the 11th...

Faye, day 3-5 doesn't sound right for clexane (which is a blood thinner). I've been using it this cycle and I started the day after starting stims and will continue until the end of the 2ww. Or, at least, I should say I haven't heard of it being used just those few days. Could it have been clomid? I was offered clomid with my first FET to help with O (natural FET). Or will you do a medicated (HRT) FET where you don't O?

No it definately wasn't clomid but I'm not sure, she was a bit vague as really wanted to talk about it in person... will just have to wait for the appt and see. I've never had a problem with ovulating in the past but many years ago I did use clomid for IUI (previous partner) but only half dose. I have wondered about doing the FET at the time of ovulation, I guess DTD has to be avoided at that time as well???

I will have the FET 5 days after ovulation. Def. no DTD is advised to prevent multiples........ So I guess some people follow that advice......;-) depending on their situation. I did listen as I could not handle multiples.

With our history (6 BFN IUI, 4 BFN IVF and 2 BFN FET vs 1 BFP IVF), we always DTD during natural FET cycles. For us, the risk of multiples is very low and it was more important to have an extra chance at a BFP. This is the same reason why we went ahead with this cycle's IUI with potentially 4 eggs being released (based on the last u/s I had a few days before trigger) - the chances of just 1 of those eggs creating a healthy pg is about 6%; the odds of twins is something like 0.3% and the odds of higher order multiples are insignificant. Of course, it's not impossible that we could end up with quads, but I think we have a better chance of winning lotto 3 times in a row... ;)

I don't generally have a problem with O'ing either, but my first FET was the cycle after my first IVF and, as previously mentioned, O can be delayed in the cycle after an IVF. The reason that was potentially a problem was because we were doing the FET in December, so I had to O in time for transfer to happen before the Christmas shut-down... That was why he offered the clomid - to help with the timing.

Just an update from me... I had a scan today and he is happy with how it all looks, just have to wait to see blood test results tomorrow and if all good I am booked in for an FET next Wednesday!

I guess it all comes down to the couples circumstances, I've never been told what our odds are of conceiving naturally so I prob wouldn't risk it as DH def doesn't want twins if it can be avoided as he already has 3 children from a previous marriage so 1 will be it for us....

I had the result back from the clinic and the HCG has risen to 3345 and progesterone up to 77. I couldn't believe it when they told me. With my mm/c I didn't have this high a number till I was 8 or 9 weeks :$ Next week another blood test and then a viability scan the week after. Fingers crossed.
Hopefully you girls will be right behind me with BFP's - am keeping my fingers crossed for you and will be stalking! xxx
