Hi Girls,
Sorry for no personals but need some urgent help.
Went for BT this morning and my FSH came back with 13, my doctors says she thinks I should wait a month and see if it gets better but it seems that I can go ahead with the antagonist cycle if I want to.
Last time my FSH was 9.8 which they considered borderline but advised to go ahead, it turned out I had three eggs, one blastie, the blastie was affected and I didn't get to ET.
I am wondering if I should go ahead anyway as I am afreaid the FSH might come back even worse next month? Was thinking that as soon as I have the first ultrasound we'll see anyway what the situation is and can cancel then if it's bad?
Please let me know what you think, also has any of you a tip on how to influence the FSH so that it goes down? I think I might have heard something oabout Sharkey's herb somewhere but don't know anything about this - does any of you take it?
I'll turn 40 in June and don't feel I have can loose any more time.
Hope you all have a good weekend and thanks for letting me know your thoughts.
Sara
When do you know you are getting into the "Long Term TTC" Category? When you have to do up an Excel Spreadsheet to remember how many attempts you've had and how many follicles and what drugs you took etc etc. Well i started a spreadsheet. Here are the results.
TTC Since June 2006
15x attempts using same donor (now reached family limit)
4x Megan; 11x Kim
2x IVF; 13x IUI
1x Natural/IUI; 1x FSH/IUI; 8x Clomid/IUI; 3x Clomid/FSH/IUI
1x1 follicle; 6x2 follicles; 3x3 follicles; 2x4 follicles; 1x7 follicles; 1x8 follicles
1x Poor response to FSH (Megan's 1st IVF Converted to IUI)
1x Low fertilisation rate (Megan's 2nd IVF 2 out of 8 eggs fertilise)
2x Slow growing embryo's (Megan's 2nd IVF Day 3 Transfer 1x 4 cell 1 x 5 cell)
1x Early Ovulation prior to Egg Pick Up (Kim's 1st IVF -3 immature eggs retrieved)
1x Zero embryos to transfer ( Ki'm's 1st IVF -1 arrested and 2 triploid embryos)
1x BFP (Kim's 2nd IUI/Singleton/50mg Clomid/2 follicle/7th attempt)
1x Miscarriage at 7.5 weeks (due to a Subchorionic Hematoma)
0x Baby in our arms (One little girl in our hearts - Chromasomal testing came back normal 46XX)
Still we go on. I think we may go on until there is 1 or 2 babies in our arms. Maybe we should have not had so many attempts with IUI. But we really didnt have the money to do IVF again until now. We didnt have another choice.
We are just waiting for Kim to start CD1 (CD 28 today) to start our next IVF cycle. We haven't done an IVF cycle since Sept 2006, only IUI's and our last IUI was in August last year. So we had a break from TTC and now we have the money for IVF AND private health insurance (we've done the 12 month wait). Oh and we picked a new aussie donor. Our old donor reached his family limit.
We are going to put our names down for the donor embryo program after this IVF attempt. Even if this attempt is sucessful. I am turning 37 this year and my fertility was questionable when i was 33, hell even when i was 20. I think that will be the path that we go down to achieve a pregnancy for me. Unless by some miracle Kim makes heaps of eggs and we get some good frozen embryos that i can try to fall pregnant with after Kim. Peoples.... wouldn't that be some kind of wonderful!! Can't wait to get to know you all again!
Hey Megan and Kim!
I remember you! so many familiar faces coming back onto this journey now. wishing you all the very best x
so sorry for your loss, i didnt know, sorry and GL with upcoming events

Please let me know what you think, also has any of you a tip on how to influence the FSH so that it goes down? I think I might have heard something oabout Sharkey's herb somewhere but don't know anything about this - does any of you take it?
Hi Sara69
I reckon thats an age old question for us high fshers, I havent been able to get a definitive answer from any of my doctors so went on the search for my own answers. In Jan. my fsh too came back at 13 and the clinic would not let me cycle preferring it to be <10. My fs did say to me that it would come down, I might just have to spend a couple of months waiting for it to come down. I started to go to acupuncture weekly and in feb when I wanted to start again it was 8.1. Its mine (& my partners & acupuncturists) belief that fsh is greatly influenced by stress and this was the primary reason I started ap - to help keep stress levels under control. For me, it helps tremendously. I have read a lot about women using wheatgrass to lower fsh, some with success, some without. DHEA seems to be another thing that pops up a lot. I would do your own research on the wheatgrass and the DHEA and decide based on what you find but I would definitely recommend acupuncture. I havent really read a lot about Sharkey's herbs just that some women do like them. Not sure if any of this is of use to you but I hope so.
Also, I have just changed fs, my new one is more experienced with high fsh and poor response & I think this will make all the difference. I think all high fshers need a fs who has atleast some experience treating high fsh because we just need a bit more aggresive treatment. I believe it can be overcome. Sorry to ramble. HTH
BTW- You guys are all fantastic!!! Your support is amazing
Dutchie, thanks so much it's really encouraging to hear that the high FSH can get better when you treat it. Have a phone appointment with my FS tomorrow and will then decide if I start or not. She would allow me to start with 13 but we're both probably expecting the cycle to get cancelled. I am just afraid it might even get higher next month.
Sara
Hi girls,
Hope you all had a good weekend :D
Sara - sorry cant offer you any advice but I hope you phone call goes well today and your able to make a decision. Good luck
Toby - I too have endo and it was severe. I had a 10cm cyst on my left ovary which in turn squashed my uretha and I had cysts on my bowel too. I had an emergency laparotomy in Feb last year due to severe pain in which they chopped the top of the cyst only hoping it would go away but it didnt. I then went to Endo Care Assoc Aust and the dr there was terrific. After many scans he advised another laparotomy to remove my ovary with the cyst on it, I then had a stent put into my uretha by a urologist and had a bowel surgeon remove the cysts on my bowel. The op took just over 5 hrs with 3 surgeons working on me. I am feeling lots better now (pain free!!!) and my dr fixed my anatomy ready for IVF. He told me before the op that IVF just wouldnt work so had to have the surgery first. I hope this has helped. If you need any more info, just message me. Good luck.
Hello to everyone else.
AFM, went for my scan this morning. They found 8 follies but only 2 of a good size. There is 1 at 12mm which they are HOPING may grow before EPU. I trigger tomorrow night with EPU on Thursday. I was hoping for a better result as I am on such a high doseage of Gonal. Does anyone know what the highest doseage is???? Im on 450. Work isnt being very supportive partically my boss so am feeling quite low. When I told him I was going into hospital on Thursday, he was like "just the morning"? I was like nooooooo, I need the whole day off. Mind you this will be my 3rd EPU so have told him before that they put me under. I hate his ignorance and I feel even more alone than ever. If it wasnt for this site and you girls, I dont know how I would cope. Thank-you. Sorry to vent but Im just angry with my boss at his lack of understanding.
Take care,
Tania
Hi Tania,
Think 450 might be the highest dosage for Gonal F. Did you ask if they can wait a bit longer with EPU just wondering since they normally want the follicles to be at least 18mm and they usually grow only 2mm per day. That said they usually grow better once you've done the trigger as that gives them some extra power.
Sara
Hi Sara,
I have 2 ready to go, one at 22mm and the other at 17mm so they cant delay trigger unfortunately. I have 2 at 10mm and 3 at 9mm so they have no hope but hoping the
12mm grows some more. Going by your stats, it should grow to about 18mm by Thursday fingers crossed! Im having another injection tonight so hope that helps too.
I thought 450 would be the highest doseage. That doesnt give me much comfort.
Thanks for your reply :D
Take care,
Tania
P.S. How'd you go with your FS today and are you going ahead?
Hi Tania, that sounds much better, looks like you should have at least the three, keeping fingers crossed for you.
My FS just called and we've decided to wait another month, instead I'll be starting with DHEA. Feeling reliefed and planning to do lots of nice and relaxing things in between.
Sara
Thanks for the info. Tania! how long were u in hospital? and did u need more time to recover at home?
one of the probs is that my ovaries are stuck to my bowel. all the pain ive had even just going to the loo or not going (iykwim) i thourght believe it or not was normal. thank god i have some answers now = about my health in general (sorry if tmi)
Im seeing the surgeon on Thurs.
Tania - im waiting for my boss to say something to me as well because we are not ment to have med app during day. Cant help that when the FS finishing at 12.
good luck with everything!
everyone - thoughts become things...pick the good ones.
Hi All
Good luck to all this month. I am on Day 10 of taking Synarel and CD 31, waiting for AF to start injections. Husband has premature testiclular failure so we have frozen sperm.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself as i am new and wish all luck.
Hi all sorry i have been MIA, you know how it is life and all. Well we see new FS on
Thursday and have begun writing our list of questions. Hope everyone is doing well where ever you are in your cycles.
True Blue - Hi, how are you? Glad to see you in this forum so we can chat in here but at the same time sad for you that you couldnt get a BFP naturally. Don't worry about all the acrynyms, I don't know half of them either especially to do with IVF as I havent been down that road.
Hope to catch up with you soon.
EmmaPengiun - welcome and goodluck. Hope you are not in here long.
:hello: to everyone and all the best xo
hey girls,:hello: and :welcome: newbies,
i hope you all well and things are going ok,have a great week .
good luk with..synaral sniffing, jabbing,bt,epu,et,fet, scans and all them nice things i hope they all lead into some bfps for all of us
Hi Girls,
Sara - glad all has worked out for you and you have a plan. Take time to relax and prepare for next month. Good luck :D
Toby - I was in hospital for 7 days the 1st time round, that was due to getting pneamonia! Because they didnt do much inside, I was back at work 3.5 weeks after coming out of hospital. They told me recovery was 4 weeks. The 2nd op was alot more involved and I struggled. Again in hospital for 7 days and I was back at work 4.5 weeks after coming out of hospital. They told me recovery was 6 weeks all up. The cut was bigger 2nd time round since they had to do more inside. Im lucky that Ive been at my work for 19yrs (yes a LONGGGGG time, lol) so I had lots of sick leave owing to me. That makes it hard if work dont allow you to have apps during the day cause as you said, you cant tell the FS what hours to work!!!! Im glad you have some answers now that explains why you are having pain. I was shattered to find out how extensive my endo was but Im now relieved that Ive had the op and am painfree for the time being and that I now have a better chance of getting pg. I hope it all works out for you. :D
Emmapenguin - Hello and WELCOME! :D Good luck and hope AF arrives soon so you can start injections.
Saph - hope your appointment goes well on Thursday. Writing a list of questions is a great idea. That way you dont go home and say, oops I forgot to ask that question!
:hello: to Loops, smithy and everyone else :D
AFM, just waiting on a call from the clinic to advise me of the trigger time for tonight and time of EPU. Im not holding onto much hope since I have 2 maybe 3 eggs. The quality of my previous eggs werent good so feeling pretty down especially since I was on such a high doseage this cycle. Can anyone tell me how you can improve egg quality? Im been doing acu since early Jan and been having the chinese herbs too. Was hoping that would improve things but its only been worse.
Thanks again,
Tania

hi everyone else::loveshower:
afm: well scan went well and fs said prob a normal cycle this time. guessing sun for ov so FET looks like tue next week. i already booked acupuncture for tue ready to help this one to stick.
i am feeling great , just busy. come on tue.
Hi Girls,
thanks so much for asking after me and apologies I have been so absent. I have hit the really really busy time of the year at work where I am working 12 hour days mininum plus weekends so I am sorry I have not been around.
Just to give you an indication of my schedule - had a transfer yesterday followed by acupuncture - just made it to the transfer with 2 mins to spare running late from a meeting - went to acupuncture and made it back to work 1 minute late for my next meeting! My boss was laughing at me (in a good way - he knows what is going on and is very supportive) he was saying - hope all goes well at 'transfers r us'.
So I have 2 embies on board - 1 had divided from 2 to 4 cell the other from 4 to 5 so they don't sound like world beaters but hey if they survived the thaw they are in with a chance I guess. These are my last 2 frosties so in a way I am really glad I am so so busy as it doesn't give me much time to dwell on what will happen if it doesn't work out this time. I also have my in-laws arriving for a week on Thursday so pretending nothing is happening and I am just on a health kick (not drinking) will kind of make it not seem real as well.
I sincerely hope everyone is doing OK - I will make more on an effort to post every few days if I can and try and catch up on personals too, but know I am always thinking of my buddies :hello:
love and hugs
x
Hi Girls,
Aleenta: sending lot sof sticky vibes your way.
Miss Magpie: thanks for your support through this, lots of luck for EPU. I was given Pregnyl throgh my last antagonies cycle which is supposed to improve Egg qaulity, otherwise I only know about the DHEA which I've now started taking.
JBM: have to send a funny one back to you :juggle:
You're sounding really upbeat that is great. Wishing you all this best for this cycle.
:hello: to everyone else
Have a great day
Sara
Hi Ladies, I hope you don't mind if I join you. I'm kind of in limbo between threads as I'm not exactly LTTTC (this is my 10th month of trying) but have just started IVF/ICSI due to complications and after reading through several threads I think I'll feel right at home here.
I'm currently on day 9 of using synarel (CD31) and have just begun spotting (usually how AF starts around this time of the cycle). I have a BT booked for tomorrow morning where they decide if I'm ready to begin the fun of injections (which I must honestly say I can't wait for as it makes me feel like I'll be doing something to really achieve my goal).
I have read most of your posts and know I'll be quite the novice here but look forward to your advice and offering my advice and support back wherever I can (being so new to IVF and ICSI).
First question I have after reading through your posts - what exactly is FSH? I guess I will learn soon enough for myself?
Wishing everyone the best of luck. I look forward to seeing lots of BFPs here. I know I have found it very hard coming this far and admire the strenth and endurance of all of you have shown in your posts.
Hi girls,
Just a quick post so sorry no personals. My EPU is at 7.20am tomorrow morning, VERY early! Im  we get an embie this time so I can have a transfer on Saturday.
Take care and will be back online on Friday to catch up on personals.
Cheers
Tania :D
best of luk tania for your epu hun i hope you do get a embie :crossfingers:
Hi Tania, good luck for your epu, I hope all goes well.
:hello: everyone else!
Tania
Good luck tomorrow for your epu. Wishing you the best
Rest up and take it easy tomorrow
Also adding my best wishes for tomorrow for you Tania
Lots of fingers crossed for you Tania, let us know how things go...
Big hi to everyone. I hope we all do well this month and get our longed for sticky BFP!!
Kim is on CD4 now so Day 4 of Lucrin and Day 1 of Gonal F. She is on 225iu of Gonal F and starting a day early because she is normally a slow grower. Last time she was only on 150iu of Gonal F, so hopefully she will get more than 7 follies. She is on Lucrin this time instead of Synarel, because the sniffing didn't work for her, she ovulated before egg pick up last time. So we went with the Lucrin because it will work for sure according to our Dr...
So every morning I have to give her 2 injections. One small syringe for the Lucrin and the Gonal F pen injector. The first day she said the Lucrin injection was painless. But every needle since then she says has hurt. Maybe i am rusty with giving the needles, so do you guys have a method so it doesnt hurt so much??
Hopeing you guys have some handy hints on injecting issues...going to post this as a thread as well so everyone can see my post, i really hate hurting her with the needles.
TwoMums, what perfect timing with that question! I was just handed my first lot of pugeron drugs with the epipen this morning and am supposed to start tonight once they call my with today's blood test results ensuring my levels are suppressed. I'd be interested to hear any injecting tips too. As keen as I am to start injecting so that I can feel like I'm really doing something to make things happen I know my first time wont be easy!!!!
Girls I'm on the epipen. I dont' really have any issue with it. Sometimes you feel a little '*****' but that's as bad as it gets. Maybe just make sure you pinching a good amount of skin around the belly button......sorry i can't be of any more help! It might be because i'm a little 'chubby' so there's a little more padding!!!!!
Thanks Baby2Bee.
I just received a call from my FS. Apparently the synarel hasn't worked!!!! They want me to come in for an ultrasound tomorrow morning to rule out any cysts (which I'm sure I don't have as I just had an ultrasound two weeks ago and it was all clear and I don't have any history of cysts). They think they may have to try lucarin instead. I feel so bummed out as I was just given my pugeron drugs this morning and was so psyched to be at that stage of my cycle. I know it's not the worst thing that could happen. I'm just so impatient!!!!
Tania hope your EPU went well have been thinking of you.
Sara
Hi
True Blue - Been thinking of you today and hope your appointment with the FS went well. Sam and I would love to come and see you one day and have a BBQ.
Hugs to you x
Jaxi - Hi and welcome and good luck with everything
Tania - Hope today went ok for your EPU. Been thinking of you.
:hello: to everyone else
AFM - just waiting until the 2nd March for next IUI cycle and struggling along today at work because it would have been my 'late' sister Maggie's 23rd birthday today.
tania..thinking of you to hun xxoo
hi ladies
tania thanks for the info. hope everything went ok.
Loops- thinking of you at this time.
afm- went to Fs who spec in endo. When he removes he end he said i will go from 1-2% chance of concieving to 15-20% of concieving. I dont think this is a very good % increase, i am very upset by it. Is this good odds? what do you all think? I feel i have no hope at all.
Everyone else good luck with everything
Well hi all, feeling a little , I dont know blah after meeting new FS today. He was very concerned about my weight and has put me on a lets say diet. Carbs til lunch time then none after lunch and an hour of walking after finishing eating for the day, no sugar whatsoever. He has put me on a drug called reductil which cost over $200. He also talked about metabolic syndromes and metaformin and that I am going to die young and We have to have another month of because of the rubella needle and to top it all off we have sperm issues too. We always had them just the other clinic didn't pick up on them so the 4 cycles of OI were a waste of time. Sorry for the vent I am feeling a little overwhelmed and very teary at the moment. Sometimes I wonder if it is all worth it. Sorry in a very down place at the moment, will come back when I feel a little better.
it's all worth it in the end saph. I too am overweight however my fs is yet to mention it yet!!! I'm waiting for it though!!! I think of it this way. I'm overweight now, imagine how big and uncomfortable I'll be pregnant and carrying around all that extra weight! It would be nicer to shed a few kilo's before the strain on your body. Keep your chin up. Feel free to chat to me anytime about weight venting etc!
