Toby - thanks for your thoughts. I don't think 15%-20% is too bad because they say with IUI you only have about a 30% chance still so all the odds are pretty low for conceiving anyway I feel. Its a pretty big jump from 2% to 20% so I wouldnt be too concerned. You'll get there.
Saph - sorry to hear about your troubles with your specialist etc. At least I suppose you know about the sperm troubles now so you can work on those and you have some other things you can try that will probably boost your chances of conceiving. :goodluck: Thinking of you.
Thinking of everyone x
Hey All,
Toby, you will find that assisted conception methods will give you higher success rates but as Kahlan said, 20% is normal for a fertile couple. Sometimes it's hard to focus on anything else but the statistic and I know 20% does not sound too encouraging but when you compare it to 1-2% it is a HUGE difference. Stay positive hun!!!
AFM, received a bit of a blow this morning at the FC. They did an ultrasound and while they were able to confirm there were no cysts they again confirmed that the synarel hasn't done a thing (not sure why AF hasnt come in all her glory then and I've had zero premenstrual symptoms!!?!) they think there's a big possibility this cycle will have to be cancelled altogether. They did some more bloods and will call me this afternoon for the 'where to from here' but were under the impression this morning that they'd have to cancle this cycle, allow all my levels to normalise again post ovulation and get me on lucarin from CD22. I bawled for about an hr after realising the possibility of my cycle being cancelled before even starting but I guess this is the best of the worst case scenarios right? Did anyone else feel like they were a big pin cushion/guinea pig when going into assisted conception?
Toby- Chin up that is a really good thing it brings you up to almost normal
AFM: Well yesterday was the big day we went off to the specialist in melb after battling traffic and smog blegh we got to our app nervous but hopefull only to have a shattering day. Firstly he sat there and said that we should be there cause apart from low sperm count we should be able to get preg we were like we'll we wouldn't be here if we didn't have to and then he said he wanted to wait and get surgery for DH which probably won't do anything anyway and then he sat there wanted to push for full blown IVF and I mean full blown as in ijecting the sperm into the egg did not want to even discuss IUI even if the sperm count came back normal before we knew it we had had blood taken had our arms full of ivf info and had three apps made to start the ball rolling... I cried most of the way home had a few arguments as to what to do and we decided we wanted a secnd opinion as our doc said we shouldn't have to do any more than IUI so I made an app this morning as soon as I could and she has given me a ref to Mac (Dr Mac Talbot)in sale which was who we origionally wanted and she has specified that we want minimal intervention (meaning IUI) Mac from what I have heard ius fantastic from peopel who have been to him so have high hopes again but was so dissapointed after yesterday.
phew well that's been our update
how is everyone else doing?
Saph as you can read from above frustration with FS I understand and if you can and are not happy with your current FS change
Good afternoon girls,
Thank you for all your well wishes. Its greatly appreciated. :D
Yesterday went better than expected. They collected 4 eggs! I only expected 2 maybe 3 at best but another follicle must have grown too. Ive just had a call from the clinic and my ET is booked in for 11.40am tomorrow morning. If anything happens in the meantime, I will get a call from my dr. My FS said to transfer 2 embies this time. If I get 2 then I will, but at this stage, I'll be happy if 1 makes it. Im trying not to think too much about it but its hard not too. Im close to the finish line and am  I get there.
Twomums - Kim good luck with your jabbing. I cant offer any advice on giving the injections. I found that my right side was less sensitive than the left!
Loops - Anniversaries/birthdays of loved ones who have passed is always hard. I hope your doing better today. Good luck for Monday, fingers crossed.
JBM - hope all is on track for your FET next week.
Aleenta - Hope your embies are snuggling in nicely :D Hope to see you in TWW soon.
Trueblue - sorry to hear yesterday didnt go well. Its all so overwhelming. Hopefully you will get a better result with Dr.Talbot, good luck.
Toby - My FS gave me the same odds after my op and like Kahlan said, a "normal" couple only have the same success rate when trying to conceive naturally so those chances are a plus. Stay positive :D
Jaxi - sorry to hear that your cycle may be cancelled but hopefully if you can get your body back to normal, things will be better next cycle. Its very disappointing to cancel a cycle but you need to focus on the next one & stay positive. I feel like a pin cushion and am SO OVER having to show my "privates" to so many people (sorry, TMI)
Saph - no need to apologies for venting. Thats what we are here for. I cant imagine how that would have felt being told that by your FS. I too am overweight and would have LOVED to have shed some weight before falling pg but with all the meds etc have found it very difficult. Plus didnt want to put my body under additional stress if that makes sense. Take care of yourself and am here for you.
Hi to Sara, Baby2bee, Smithy, Babydreamtime, Dutchie and everyone else.
Take care,
Tania :D
Hi Saph
I also know how you must be feeling, we have sperm issues too and I am overweight with tendancies towards Poly Cyctic. We only had 20% chance of conceiving in the first 2 years and that was on the sperm analysis alone. with my problems i have no idea what the chances would have been. Not good tho. Its so easy to get let down and feel like giving up bit im convinced all this "pain" will be worth it one day. Its just so hard not having any control over anything. At least you have control over the weight issues, easy to say but i know as well as anyone how hard losing weight is too.
Hope you feel better soon.:D
Hi Everyone,
Well not so good. We had five AA embies on ice, but none survived the thaw. So we are off to FS next week and hopefully we can g go straight to another stim cycle.
Aleenta how did you go hun ???
Hope everyone else is doing well.
Hi girls,
Rob: really sorry to hear that, hopefully your FS appointment will show you a way forward.
Jaxi: did you do a downregulated cycle? I had a similar experience with my first cycle which was down regulated, the second cycle was an antagonist and had a much better result.
Mr Magpie: four eggs that's an excellent result, well done! Will keep fingers crossed, goodluck for ET tomorrow.
Toby: I agree with everything the other ladies said, stay positive, you have a very good chance for a good result.
Saph: Sorry you had a bad experience. Sounds like your FS has a lot to learn in terms of bedside manner.
:hello: JBM & Aleenta
A great weekend for everyone.
Sara
Thank you ladies for the positive comments and support!:)
Gee a lot of us in here are not having a great time with it all are we? We must stay positive. I believe we ALL will get there its just some hurdles in the way at the moment. Thinking positive thourghts for all who are going thru a rough patch at the moment.
Miss Magpie - hope it went well for you this morning.
Trueblue - I see Dr T. He is very positive in his outlook - which helps me come to terms with it all. I hope you feel comfortable with him.
WOW, theres so much happening in here, having trouble keeping up now as i just don't get very often time to get on here. ahhhhh
smithy:here we come march FET, sending you some good luck vibes. :goodluck:
kahlan: hi, hope all is well with you
jaxi: hope you get some answers soon and the new drugs work for you. got fingers crossed.
loops: not long to go til IUI cycle
toby: good results, hope all goes to plan and you get a BFP.. yeah it's only about 35% for healthy woman and man for natural conception.
saph: sounds a bit drastic , drugs and a diet. but at least your new fs has some answers as to why you've had trouble in the past. hope you get some answers and praying for it to work out for you soon. sending you some good luck vibes.
trueblue: fs? what. hope it works out for you. good luck
tania: 4 eggs is good, good luck with ET. see you in TWW soon
rob:so sorry, next cycle is the one for you. know how you are feeling, what does your dh say about it all ? my dh says i get one chance, one cycle and thats it. bit scared about it as only one bubsicle left in freezer
sara: 3rd time lucky. :crossfingers:
afm: well looks like a pos ov test sunday as got the faintest of 2nd line today.
that means ov on mon & FET on wed now, a bit of a pain as i already booked my acupuncture on tue, and i've got school all day on wed. arrggg.
but i'm going to see if i can do an acupuncture or shiatsu massage on wed and just take a bit longer lunch, i'm ahead with work anyway so shouldn't matter.
i am excited, scared, aprehensive, worried, trying to think positive all at the same time,:leap::wall:
yes i do know this probably means i am crazy but i think this is a fact as i am going thru all this and another TWW, and that drives us all mad at some point.
i am so glad to have you guys as support to me and i couldn't do it without it. thanks :loveshower:
Hi JBM,
Yep this place definitely has it going on that's for sure.
Hubby was devistated actually. We drove 2 hours just arrived in the city when they rang. WHen nurse called later I asked her why can't we put 2 back this time. FS orginally said they wait til 3 attempts first but we lost 5 embies, you know I hope she understands that. I would rather risk a twin pregnancy than freeze them and lose them again. I guess I will see Wed. You never know maybe the reversal worked and we just don't know and a miracle will happen.
My dh and I haven't set a budget or time limit although after this round he might. It was alot to lose both financially and emotionally. When I got off the phone and told him all he could say was we didn't even name them. You see the first one was "George" Dh felt it was a living thing already and should be named accordingly not that we would have used that name at all, he just felt we couldn't call the emby an it.
I must admit I was looking forward to an FET and not stim but will go through it again if I need to, which I do.
Good luck with your FET hun, do you think your hubby would really say no more and that's that?
To everyone else good luck with your cycles and lots of :stickyvibesboy::stickyvibesgirl:
Awww rob that brought a tear to my eye about dh that's so sweet. Good luck with whatever happens next.
AFM: This month I guess it's back to trying naturally still hoping naturally will happen but we have a game plan now
Hi Girls
Jaxi - I'm so sorry about the Synarel not working. It didnt work for kim either, hence the lucrin injections this time. At least you didnt get to egg pick up stage and ovulate early like kim did. I gather your FS is keen on doing a down reg cycle. I asked our FS about why one would do that kind of cycle rather than a flare cycle (starting lucrin on day 1) and he said he just does what works for him best. But he also said that he thinks other doctors do it so they can try and control EVERYTHING about the timing of your cycle to avoid egg pick ups on the weekends etc.... maybe ask your FS about having a flare cycle instead of a down reg cycle so you will have less time on lucrin.
Baby2Bee - LOL yes kim has a little tummy padding too. 3 years of fertility drugs kinda does that to ya huh. We are doing better with the needles now i think...i dont know as i'm not on the receiving end.
Smithy - how much longer until your FET??
Saph - My poor neice has a specialist in Cairns doing the same thing to her. She is about 90 kgs, so not too bad and she is only 25. Their problems are with sperm issues anyway, but the receptionist told her not to bother making another appointment until she gets serious and loses some weight. So glad our FS doesnt care. He says fat women have babies all the time. Kim is about 82kg so a little overweight for her, I am really overweight now, but started out normal weight 3 years ago. I blame Clomid man that stuff is bad...
Rob - So sorry for your loss, but glad to see you get right back on the horse and rearing to head in for another cycle.
JBM - Good luck and fingers crossed for this cycle!
Tania - How was your EPU?? Hope you are ok!
As for us, Kim is on CD 7, Day 7 of Lucrin, Day 4 of Gonal F 225iu. We go for our first scan and bloods on tuesday morning. She has been having killer headaches and she is having the appropriate amount of ovarian niggling and pains. So SOMETHING is definately happening in there! Can't wait until Tuesday to find out!! Until then, we are just plodding along.
Take care everyone, checking in on you everyday, even if i dont write. Hugs...
Megan
Thanks guys for the support, I am still reeling a little from the new FS, but I guess he cares. He spoke about being here to see my son grow up and to see him have children so he is not the big Ogre really. Anyway have eaten my way through a years worth of crap this weekend and start both the drugs and the new diet and exercise tomorrow. My aim is to lose 20kg in the next 6 months which will bring my BMI below 30. 16kg will put me back to the weight I was when I fell preg with DS. Should have an april start now but may put it off to May as I am going to Melb to see Billy Elliot with some girls from work in april so very excited about that. Anyway What I was really doing on here was to tell everyone I am ok, It is all worth it and Thankyou so very much for the support.
:hello:hello beautifuls i hope you all hade a good weekend ..

Good afternoon girls,
Hope you all have a good weekend :D
Well I have 1 embie on board, am very happy with that. I only got the 1 from 4 eggs. I didnt expect anything more. I was just VERY thankful to get 1. I was sitting there waiting for the phone to ring to say, sorry no ET but that didnt come, thankfully. Of 10 eggs they have collected so far, I have only had 2 embies. I really hope this works.
Trueblue - have fun DTD this month! A game plan is always good :D
Twomums - Kim, good luck with your scan and bloods tomorrow.
Smithy - Bring on AF!
Rob - Sorry to hear that none of your embies survived the thaw. Fingers crossed your able to start a cycle straight away. I have the daunting task of doing yet another stim cycle if this one doesnt work so know how your feeling.
JBM - sounds like all is going to plan. Good luck! Hope to see you in TWW soon :D
:hello: to Sara, Saph, Toby and everyone else.
Cheers,
Tania
Hi lovely ladies,
Tania, that is wonderful, congrats on having one on board, I hope your embie is snuggling in nice and tight and good luck in your TWW.
Smithy, yeehaa for FET in March, you and me buddy. Not long to go now.
Saph, GL with your weight loss goals, it will all be worth it. Hope the time speeds by until you next cycle.
TwoMums, GL to Kim with her jabbing, I hope your scan and bloods are on track tomorrow. We will be in the TWW together! I hope this cycle is the one for you both.
Trueblue, GL DTD naturally this month, and if it is not meant to be, DL with your coming IUI.
Rob, sorry to hear your news re your embies. I agree with you, and ever since my first ET I have always pushed for 2 embies, it is just better chances I think. Good luck with your next stim cycle, I hope you can get into it right away.
JBM, yay, your FET is so close. Sending you the best of luck for thawing and ET on Wednesday, I hope it is the one and praying you get your BFP. If I am not too far behind you, I will see you in the TWW.
Toby, I agree, thinking positive is the way to go. I think a 20% chance is fabulous. I hope it happens for you soon.
Sara, hope you had a great weekend sailing, sounds like you have some lovely relaxing times coming up. GL for your next cycle.
Busy, hi, hope you are doing ok in your TWW.
Jaxi, sorry to hear your news. I think I mentioned previously, sometimes your first cycle is a bit of trail and error, so they know how your body responds. It took me 3 stim cycles to get my dose right. Good luck, I hope they didn't have to cancel.
Loops, GL for your IUI this month.
Baby2Bee, bring on the 13th March, I hope you get your BFP. Sending your sticky vibes for the TWW.
Dutchie, hope you are doing well and the new FS makes all the difference.
If I have missed anyone, so sorry, good luck to you where ever you are in your cycle.
AFM, I am CD11 today, I have an appointment for a scan tomorrow with my new FS, am hoping and praying all is on track and I have a lovely follie growing and ready to O soon for my first natural FET, yay! I am super excited. I have 3 frozen blasties and am praying that I will have two thaw perfect for ET. So now I am just hanging out to find out what my dates will be and what happens next. This is a cycle of firsts for me, first time natural FET, first time with a new FS, first time on baby aspirin and prednisone the entire cycle. I am hoping that makes all the difference. Though I have not tested + for any blood clotting, I have always had a clotty AF, some times large clots the size of a 50 cent piece or bigger, (sorry TMI) which can?t be good, so I will be asking my FS (she had mentioned something about Clexane injections after getting a BFP) if this may be a problem re implantation, and whether I can start the Clexane earlier. I am hoping it is my turn. God I have waited long enough.
Hugs to everyone. xx
Tania, that's brilliant, really happy for you, was thinking about you on the weekend. Sending lots of :stickyvibesgirl: :stickyvibesboy: your way.
Sara
rob: glad your dh is being so thoughtful, my dh isn't very supportive as if it was up to him we would have only had 2 kids, meanie!. he is doing this to keep me happy. i really don't know what he will do if this one doesn't work? i don't want to think about it. thanks for your support. good luck to you.

Good morning girls,

AFM, am feeling quite relaxed at the moment although Ive got a bit of a head cold and sore throat, which Im not happy about. My DP was sick last week so have got it from him. I hope that doesnt affect my little embie and implantation. :crossfingers:
Take care,
Tania
Hi girls
Sorry I am at work so no personals. Just a quick one to say that we had the scan and couldnt see much of anything. Dr thought he was jumping the gun a bit having a scan on CD9 (after 5 days of stims) so I have to call at 11am to get her E2 levels and we will probably go in for another scan on Saturday which will be CD13. I think she will be on FSH for a while. Does anyone know if being on stims past day 14 or 15 is a bad sign? Hoping not. Kim was a bit upset she couldnt see any follicles yet... is this normal?
I'm normally on FSH until day 17 or 18!! Nothing wrong with it....just means I have a long cycle. GL with everything TwoMums!
Baby DT - Thanks for your support and GL with your FET
Smithy - GL with AF and embies
Twomums - GL with scan etc. Hope you get that BFP, fingers crossed for you
Rob - So sorry for your embies but glad to see your still positive about moving forward
TrueBlue - GL my great friend and have fun TTC naturally. Everything is crossed for you and Billy
JBM - thanks for your support and goodluck with FET on Wed. Thinking of you and have everything crossed for you.
Tania - Congrats having one - hope it is a BFP.
Sorry if i have missed anyone - just there are so many in here now but I really am thinking of everyone, hoping we all get :bfp: in the next few months.
AFM - Hoping that we have conceived naturally with AF due in a few days but have seen Dr Mac T yesterday and we are all set to start our next IUI and DH has to get two samples - so that will be interesting. But this may be the last IUI we do because Dr T is feeling that because DH sperm count is always so varied and up and down that perhaps we would have more chance of success with full blown IVF. Play it by ear I guess. I am in a good spot at the moment though because I suppose at least there is plans in place and moving ahead.
Hi Loops. We have exactly the same thing. DH's soldiers are up, then down. We had our 3rd IUI on Wed last week and like the nurses have said....we have 'Unexplained Infertility'. She said this is more annoying because they can't actually pinpoint why we are having trouble trying to fall pregnant! Arrrgghhhh!!!! Anyhoo GL with everything - hope you have a BFP naturally!
Twomums - I didnt respond well during my 2nd stim cycle so I was on FSH for 12 days so its not out of the ordinary. I too was on 225 iui that time and had no follicles after 6 days so I wouldnt worry too much. Good luck.
Loops - hope AF doesnt arrive and you conceive your natural miracle :D
Baby2Bee - yes it is very hard when it is unexplained infertility but I suppose things could be a lot worse so we need to remain positive. Thanks for your support and the best of luck to you and your DH. Hope AF doesnt arrive.:stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy:
Tania - Thanks for your support :)
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the selfish post, but I am too excited, don't have much time, and just had to get my news out.
My FS appointment went well, I have a lead follie at 11mm, another scan hopefully on Saturday morning, and if ok I will trigger on Saturday to O on Monday, for ET the following Saturday, hoping my 3 blasties will thaw fine so I have 2 to transfer.
But that is not the good news, if you can call my news good, but I am so happy that they have found 'something' wrong.
I have tested positive to MTHFR (for a I joke I call it mother f**ker, lol). This was one of the only BTs my last FS didn't request, not sure why, or if it was just an error. My new FS saw it was missing and asked for it right away.
From what I have googled so far, it is related to thrombophilia, it means I am not absorbing folic acid and B6 and B12, can lead to increased levels of homoscystein, and also blood clotting disorders. And something to do with the proteins of this gene inhibiting fast growing cells, which is what an embryo is.
So, I am on large doses of folic acid, B6, B12, baby aspirin and will be injecting Clexane from ET. Now back to hoping that this makes all the difference, at least this is something to address. Fingers crossed for me.
Love to everyone, will be back in for personals soon, hugs xx
I'm loving the name! Fingers crossed that this is the problem that's has been stopping your BFP's! (feels strange being happy about it!!). We don't know what our problem is and that's the worst bit i think!
BDT- Great news. Hopefully the new meds can get you that much deserved BFP. It must be nice to finally have some answers.
I am going to be asking for more testing today at FS appt as I have tested positive for ANA- Anti Nuclear Antibodies not sure what this means in relation to getting my BFP but we will soon see.
Good luck with your upcoming FET Im sure you will have 2 beautiful blasts to transfer!
To everyone else wishing you all :goodluck: and :stickyvibesboy: :stickyvibesgirl:
Hi girls,
BDT - glad all went well and everything is on track for your FET :D It does sound funny that them finding something wrong is good news but at least it hopefully explains things. :crossfingers: you get your BFP this month.
Dutchie - hope your appt went well.
AFM, still have a head cold so my mind has been mainly on trying to get better. Im  that implantation will still happen or has happened!
Take care,
Tania :D
Hi Girls,
Just fropping in quickly.
Went to FS today and we are starting fresh stim cycle when AF comes, they say should be Sunday.
I also asked to put 2 back as I didn't want to risk freezing them and losing them again and after checking with the head FS that's what we will do.
So it's onward and upward from here.
:goodluck: to everyone on wherever you are with your TCC and cycles. Be back tomorrow with more time I hope. xxx
PS Thank you all so much for your support it makes a world of difference to have someone to talk with even though we are all so far apart. :grouphug:
:clap:great news ROB.. go with the 2 embies woohoo
good luk hun hope af comes soon
:hello:to every one hope your week is going ok
AFM.. nothing happening just lurking on my girls
make us proud girls lets go get those bfps:dance:
WE CAN DO IT !!!:p
Hi everyone,
I wanted to pop in and say hello as I am new to this thread.
I am on day 2 of my first IVF stim cycle.
How bad is the Synarel. It was so painful on my nose yesterday. It caused me to sneeze and hack for about 15 mins afterwards. So today I thought I would try doing what the Indians do before my morning spray. I cupped some warm water in my hand and sniffed it up, then blew it out (sounds gross). Then a couple of minutes later I sniffed the Synarel. Wow - 80% difference in how the Synarel felt. No sneezing, barely any pain/tingling and no hacking at all. I think I'm onto something here girls. Was way more pleasant. Pass it on!
Fingers crossed I get some nice healthy eggs for pick up.
Have a great day everyone :D
BrisVegas : welcome to BB, I hope this cycle is the one for you, beginners luck.
Dutchie : Go to the thread, tests because of failing to implant... Farmgirl was diag with ANA, and she decribes what the positive ANA test means, Hope that helps ...
Hi to all you lovely ladies, wishing everyone luck this month xxx
Hi all
I have 5 days to go until we have our pregnancy test, i cant wait but im also terrified at the same time.
does anyone know what should and should not happen to you between having the blasty put in and the preg test? Last night i got really worried because i started having period pain cramps (no bleeding). i hope its normal. i guess one thing i have on my side is that my boobs seem to be firmer and they are quite sore.
At what point is the blasty supposed to implant?
i hope someone can answer my questions, the closer im getting to "the big day" the more anxious im getting.
Hi Girls
Going for my first scan on stim cycle tomorrow which will be CD10 but StimCycle Day8. Hope to have some lovely follies.:crossfingers:
BDT: I had a friend with that condition and she also ate lots and lots of leafy greens and ended up conceiving naturally so good luck.
Thanks for tip about Synarel - hurts so much...will try this way.
Busy - from what i understand it takes about 5-7 days for hatching and maybe implantation but i am no expert and i think others may know better. Anyway, good luck for your test.
Emma
