Quick update from me, doesn't look too good: one on track (6 cells) and a maybe (4 cells) my third one didn't do anything so far. Please, please keep fingers crossed that at least one makes it until Wednesday, then we have to wait for the biopsy. It's such a number game, really stressed about it.

it was suggested that we do icsi when we did our flare as DP and I have severe MF issues- probs with count, motility and morphology. Not sure if its a common occurance where there aren't probs with partners swimmers although I have heard of it being used to improve fertilization rates.

Hi Dutchie was just reading your post from a few days ago. I usually post in TTC AC, but often roam around here to.

The main reason DH and i use ICSI is he has poor morphology. We had two Drs misread his results, saying that all was fine. But because I had always had problems with my ovaries and Endo we continued to believe our lack of conceiving was due to my issues. We eventually went to a FS who read his results and straight away said this is not good there is a problem.
We couldn't believe it took three Drs to be able to read a sperm test result (given one of them was a GYNO who specialised in Fertitily problems).....very frustrating that we wasted so many months when we had the answer in our hands.

Anyways...good luck to everyone that is cycling this month. It looks like there will be quite a few starting in early Feb...I hope to be one of them so fingers crossed for everyone.

Just a quick update had trigger at 1.30 this afternoon and insemination at 10am tomorrow. A little nervous and excited all rolled into one. A little surprised as last time I didnt trigger until CD28 and today is only CD19.

Baby Dreamtime - I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for your advice last week.
I went to see my FS last week armed with info regarding further tests and it all ended rather sadly. He told me that further tests were basically a waste of time and at this stage there was no need for me to try anything "radical". I just need to be more persistent. He also told me that because of my age - I should really focus on it this year (That's why I was there!!!! I'm perfectly aware of how old I am - hence why more tests!). I was so upset - I had always really liked my FS and everyone talks so highly of him, but he obviously isn't that interested.... I'm doing my last FET with him now and looking for a new FS who may be a little bit more on my side. DH & I were really shocked. It's a bit frustrating having to change FS, but I want someone who will do some tests and actually listen to me.

I have another question for you - were the majority of your tests blood tests? I was thinking that since I have to go back to GP to get a referral to someone else, perhaps she can organise the tests so that I'm not wasting more time when I see the new FS?

Hi Tarn,
Gosh, so sorry to hear that about your FS, how frustrating. I think you have very real justification for pushing for more tests. All of the tests for failing to implant that I listed in my email were requested by my FS, I don't know if a GP can ask for these. However they were at my own cost, about $580 all up through QML, so perhaps there is no reason why a GP can't write it up if it is not on Medicare ie if you are paying for it, if that makes sense. These tests can be done anytime of the cycle, so if it means you can't request them until you see a new FS, at least you could get the tests done the same day.

I had all the other standard tests ie Prog, E2, Prolactin, TSH, FSH, T3 and T4 etc etc on Day 2 and Day 21 as well these were more just to check what my base line levels were. I requested these through my GP and they were on Medicare.

The only other idea I have which I hopefully won't need to try is getting an endometiral biopsy to check if my endo is in sync with my cycle and that embroys are being transfered at the right stage relevant to the stage my endo is at. I haven't done much research on this yet but have heard that this can impact on implantation as there is only that small window of opportunity that embryos can implant. This might be worth looking into also.

I will praying that you won't need these test and that this FET will be the one. Hugs xx

Just read your post and wanted to let you know that I know exactly how you feel. I have just left the IVF clinic in Brisbane that I was attending because my FS told me the same thing. That all the tests for failure to implant were a waste of time. Not only did his information upset me but also his attitude to the whole thing. Especially since i only recently transferred clinics to see him as I was told he was 'one of the best'

I am now about to go back to my original FS who is more than happy to test for any ideas that i have . Even if they are just to rule things out.

Hope you can find yourself a clinic and FS that will work with you - it makes all the difference.

We have a sticky thread on immunology testing in the LTAC area that members have added too over the last few years but it has been dormant for a while. There is some interesting information in there that may be of use for you.

Also if you were able to take the time, it would be valuable for other members to have the information you may have gained from your own investigations included in this thread which wont disappear when this thread ends.

I think I will also bump it to see if we can added valuable learnings for us all.

BDT I hadn't heard of the endometrium test for synchronisation. I would be really interested to hear what you find out.

TLO I have moved FS twice and never regreted taking some control in my own treatment. Good luck with it all.

I've noticed you are both on the GC and I don't think we are allowed to put down names of Doctors into this forum? I haven't worked out how to private message someone (I've tried - just can't seem to work it out) - but if you know how to (as I'm sure its probably very simple!)- are you able to let me know which FS you have both seen? I work in 8 Mile Plains so it's half/way between Bne and GC - perhaps I can travel to GC?

The clinic i just left was Monash IVF at Sunnybank and the FS was Dr Dunphy

My old FS (the one I am going back to) is Michael Flynn at Fertility Gold Coast at Pindara Hospital - he is wonderful

TLO - just wanted to agree with the others. You DESERVE to be listened to by your FS. After all, they are working for and being paid by YOU!! I would defnitely seek more testing. My lastest lotto is "no regrets". I have explored just about every test just to rule things out so I don't have any regrets. Flew to Sydney last yr to have NK cell testing done and was suprised to get a positive result. At least I can now try some treatment and pray this gives me a baby. You do need a FS who is behind you all the way to try new things. the last thing you need on this tough journey is to have to fight for everything or feel that you are not fully supported by the one person who may hold the key to your success.
Hoping you don't need anymore help ( that next cycle will work) but if not, then BOL finding a great new FS

Neptune - great to hear from you, and I hope the double dose of Puregon does the job - I really understand the frustration of cancelled cycles - the awful feeling of being stuck and not moving forward.
Wouldloveabubba - Good luck with the flare cycle and I hope the Gonal F is good for you - I found it not too bad once they got the dose right

AFM - I am on Cycle day 2 after the almighty Provera actually worked and AF showed up yesterday - on the 3rd day since finishing the tablets. So to all the Provera girls - LOTS of luck - it's such a bizarre feeling being elated to get AF, but when you have such troublesome cycles it really is a relief to feel like you are making some progress. Well that's how I feel anyway. So I start jabbing tomorrow with a nice low dose of Gonal F - 75 iu as I am prone to overstim. However I am not doing a stim cycle, I am doing an FET however the Progynova didn't work so FS trying this instead as a way to get my lining to prepare. I am booked in for a scan on cycle day 10 to see how I am responding to the Gonal F. I am feeling really positive as I don't like the alternative IFKWIM. The way I figure it is if I don't get a BFP this time I am going to be disappointed regardless of how positive I am so I might as well be positive in the meantime as it makes the journey much more pleasant to think good thoughts instead of bad...
So in the spirit of positivity - I am really looking forward to welcoming my embies with an open heart later this month!
