i spoke to soon re: Harvey the wonder dog. as he is a street dog he still has a lot of learning esp when learning not to go to the toilet on my cream colour couch................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. hope it wont stain!! its scotch garder and just on the flappy bit at the bottom. have attached it with washing up liquid and water !!!!any ideas would be great. I also rubbed his nose very close to it and told him no and put him out...... he knows he in trouble as everytime he see me and i say out he goes out and he doesnt usually. boy will he be sooking

I have had a similar problem with one of my furbaby cats - I expect the smell won't be as bad with your dog but still bad enough. I have found success with using an enzyme based washing powder such as BioZet etc - damp it onto the area and rinse out with a wet cloth as well as you can, using a dry cloth to dry out as much as possible. The enzymes will break down the proteins in the urine and therefore get rid of the some of the smell (apparently!). Once it is dry, I then use Febreeze on the area - you can get it at the supermarket - it should get rid of any lingering odours. Hope this helps you.

Funny you say that but it doesnt smell, unless this cold is getting the better of me ..hehe I have got frebreeze and love the stuff - someone once told me that it was going to be banned as people have been caught spraying it ONTO their animals !!!!!WTF havent they heard of bathing !!!

Loula - it sounds like you are already sorted with your baby's mess then - the only other thing that I have used is bi-carb of soda to help draw the stain out when it is wet - might be a bit hard on a vertical surface though!

Just an update on me in case anyone is interested - I had to take some panadol last night to sleep. This morning all my bloating and pain was gone! So I had my injection and phoned the nurses. They have told me not to worry and to wait until my scan tomorrow before having the next injection, so I will know more then. Apparently, the hot flushes and bloating/discomfort are common and not necessarily OHSS - can anyone else confirm this?

Anyway, hope everyone is going well today. I am not feeling as cr@ppy today as I did this time yesterday, which hopefully is a good sign.

Ellie, fabulous news about Dr S! I swear there are many women here who think he's the greatest. Flowerchild and Keen and SuziQ and a whole host of others who think he's the bees knees. I am so glad you're getting to talk to him, and isn't he great that he is doing it free of charge? How many Drs would do that?

Thanks everybody for being so supportive. I kinda feel a bit silly jumping to conclusions of OHSS but I guess this is all still so new for me and I want to make sure I maximise my chances with this first cycle. There are never too many questions when it comes to your health!

Ellie - that is great news about your phone call with the doc. Fingers crossed for you that you will get more information to add to your plan for the next cycle.

Jo - how is everything with you? Have you started your next cycle?

BW - are your symptoms still nice and strong? Are you having another b/t before your scan?

Chez, I don't see how you can be silly at all for being worried about it. As BW knows, OHSS is a big thing and it would be way more silly to not do anything and get sick.

Hi everyone

Well I went for my scan this morning - not good news unfortunately. Only one follie visible on my left ovary (and that is small) and nothing really on the right one. So more injections and spray for me over the weekend and back for another scan on Monday morning. My FS has said that at that point she will decide whether the follie is big enough to look at doing a trigger on Wednesday for EPU on Friday or, if the follie is not big enough, then my cycle will be cancelled and will try a different protocol next time. :( She is trying to remain positive - "as it only takes one egg" - that a transfer will occur. She doesn't see any point in increasing my dose to 600/day as apparently studies have shown no real benefit.

Has this happened to anyone else? My body is normally so very sensitive to all sorts of medications, often needing a lower dose of things like painkillers etc than usual, so I just don't understand why my body is not responding appropriately :( Since being on the higher dose of Gonal-F I have had lots of headaches and am VERY emotional - I guess it is also stress that is making me on edge as well. AAAAHHHHHH Sorry for the self-absorbed post... I hope everyone else is doing well today. I am sure we will get through this - I just need to distract myself with something else at the moment as I can't really let anything out being at work and all.

Chez, it's possible that you have a similar situation to BG... where basically she was responding too well to the synarel and her ovaries then wouldn't wake up again.

The good news is that for her a different protocol worked really well.

Sorry it wasn't the news you wanted. :hug: At least it now looks like the OHSS isn't a problem.

Chez, your body might well be sensitive to various medications such as paracetemol etc as suggested, but in those instances you know those drugs are the right type, and right amount to deal with whatever problem you are having. In the case of AC, every patient is different and every patient is being treated for different (essentially) causative factors in infertility. And then, even when they have the problem more or less identified, there's the complication of knowing which drug to use, in what quantity and so on.

So who knows, if this cycle is no good, next cycle they may give you a higher dose of the same/different drug from the start, and suddenly Bob's your cousin's aunt, you have 6 awesome follicles just itching to release some egg goodness upon the world.

Don't despair. It's early days.

Sorry i have been MIA lately, i started the new job yesterday all seems to be doing ok stress factor is zero at the moment which is nice for a change, it was sad leaving the old place but we just have to focus and pray that these chnges help us achieve our much wanted bundle of baby goodness! Not much really happening here AF is visiting which is odd only a 22 day cycle.... hmmm and i have to fly to Sydney for work next week and thenn DH and I are taking our much needed 5 days away to reconnect.

I would have to agree with you Sushee it so hard during AC all the go and have sex now and everyday for the rest of your lives.. and they whoa no BD'ing for the next 3 weeks and then when you are again you are a bit disconnected... a hard balancing act!

Hope everyone is going great guns.. i have been dropping in and reading but just havent had the energy to post and catch up. Also trying to distance myself a bit as i really want to be doing another cycle now but i know i have to be patient and behave and wait til October it just seems like such a long time away!!!

I don't have any words to console you for this cycle, except to say that this may be an isolated incident. If they do cancel your cycle, you may well go on to have a much more fruitful cycle next time. I had a few cycles of 6-7 eggs, then, without changing a thing, my third cycle produced nearly nothing and got cancelled. When I asked why it happened, they said that unfortunately your body reacts differently at every cycle. So please don't lose hope yet. It may be worth giving this cycle up and hoping for better next time.

And Chez, although I know this is totally irrelevant in many ways, the unpredictability of the human body can be seen in blokes too. With my 3 SA's, I produced 2 high counts with poor motility then ok motility, then my third one was lower in count (but still normal) but great in every other department. It just goes to show that nothing to do with this whole business is an exact science.

Well said Rols...and that's why you never know what's around the corner and when that little miracle is going to surprise you...never give up...every step is one step closer to having our beautiful bubs in our arms...'it's not an exact science'!

Chez hun, i'm so sorry to hear things haven't progressed for you - it's such a devastating statment when you find out things may be cancelled, but as the others have mentioned, it may be a very isolated case! i was in a very similar situation to yourself during my first two attempts at IUI - after 10 days of injections (at varying levels) i had both cycles cancelled - the synarel did what it was supposed to do, in shutting my ovaries down, but the puregon didn't have the oomph to wake them up again - i guess my ovaries were massively stubborn or something (wouldn't surprise me - i'm a red head!!)

our FS tried two different protocols for ovulation induction using synarel - and both were cancelled for failure to respond. third cycle a different approach was used which didn't involve synarel, and i had a "text book" response developing 3 perfect sized follies for IUI - and had we been doing IVF, they would have left me on the meds an extra day ar two because i apparently had another 21 follies that were starting to develop nicely. i know it's hard at the moment, and i really hope that your cycle isn't cancelled, but i just wanted to let you know that there are always other protocols the FS can try. i have everything crossed for you that your next scan shows a much better response.

BG (and Sushee) - thanks very much for sharing your experiences. It does sound like that may be what is happening with my body as well... although typing this I am getting pain in my right ovary so maybe they are finally waking up (about a week late!!).

anytime Chez! - the ladies on here helped me to survive some pretty ordinary times when my cycles were going "not to plan" and i want to be able to pass on some of the info/experience i've gained to help others out (kinda like that movie "pay it forward").

now for my self involved post

went to the FS today - and i just love him! he is such a down to earth, jovial person and manages to make you feel that everything is possible! he's ecstatic that my body is trying to do it's own thing at the moment, so we're taking a break for the next couple of weeks to see if we manage to get UTD on our own! so that puts us in something of an unofficial TWW.

if AF arrives, we start the next stim cycle for the IUI. if she hasn't shown by CD28 i have to have a BT and check what's happening. i'm so much happier about "doing nothing" at the moment than i was 24 hours ago!

we had a big discussion about my last cycle and the fact that i had the clinic nurse very worried - had 3 good 16mm+ follies and 21 others between 11 and 15mm so she was very concerned about multiple pregnancy (yes please!) or developing OHSS - next time we'll use a slightly lower dose, especially considering my body is trying to do this on it's own....

roll on the start of july - one way or another, we'll be on our way again!

Chez im very sorry for your news hun, like some have mentioned it is very different for us all, but while we are doing the same if you get what im saying? I know that when you do your 1st IVF it is really a trial and error (really mostly are) but im hoing that the next protocol that you go with will give you much better results. Also did you discuss with your FS about the pain that you have been experiancing ?

BG- i know what your saying about DFS! my DH loves him! and was so pleased that i decided to return to his clinic, and keeps telling me 'we'll he has got you pg twice', im like i know but im still not holding my bubba! I so pleased that he said give it a go by yourselves for a month, you never know ive heard it happen so many times, maybe the last cycle was just a wake up for everything to start happening !!i was told by mac that your last protocol (the same as what im gunna do ) give you a less chance of developing OHSS? he does have me on a higher dose this time and last time i got 17 eggs and the time before 16 (gosh hope im not running out!!)

has mac mentioned anything about triggering AF for you lou? i think going through the protocol without the synarel was a much more pleasant experience (if AC could ever be considered pleasant!!) - i just didn't have the massive emotional ups and downs this time! hoping it works for you, and you get some nice quality eggies out of it!

FWIW - i've read a fair bit on here lately about immunoligy testing to find the reason why pregnancies aren't sticking - have you looked into any of this? i know you've been in the game so much longer than i can comprehend, so you probably have, but it just came to mind while i was reading your post...

oh yeah, one more thing - i'm BG, not BW hun!! she graduated already!

I did have some test done with MIVF and took all the results with me when i returned to Mac and he said that the FS i was under at MIVF he kmew and 'knew' what she would have tested for as it is her sig thing to do and said that he didnt tink it was nessassary!!!(bit put off at that poing) i did ask him about the baby asprin and he just said good idea ill give you a script and a script for anti for both DH and i before i start injections. I will be asking for a copy of ALL my cycles and egg colections soon from both clinic so that i can study them a little befor i concider giving DR Sacks a call, but first i will be quizing Ellie, Keen and Deb for all their advice, (if they let me )

it's all good hun! both BW and I are used to it now (you're definitely not the only one to make the oopsie!) - luckily neither of us is easily offended - i guess i just look at it that we're both difficult "patients" with lots of weird responses to meds, so it's no wonder people confuse us!!

i can understand wanting to get all your info together and work out where you're at - especially if you're considering contacting Dr Sacks for a consult - it's best to know where you're at! i find it very difficult at times to not have everything at hand so that i can work out exactly where i'm at in my own head! i'm sure the lovely ladies who've already consulted with Dr Sacks won't have an issue giving you the information you need to know whether that is the next step you should take. Of course I'll be sharing what Dr Sacks says...if I get to talk to him? They still haven't got back to me with a time and he's meant to call tomorrow? Oh well...not like it's urgent...I'm just impatient. I've been doing my research into this immunology stuff...I am more and more convinced that this could be an answer for us...from what I've read if you've had more than 3 unsuccessful IVF or one blighted ovum or mc's (can't remember how many...but I'm sure I've had enough!) it's time to test! So it will be really interesting!
