Beestrong- Well done honey!! We will certainly continue praying for you Xx

Juniper- Oohhhh one more day till BT! I have a good feeling Xx

Bunny- How are you traveling honey? The TWW killed you yet? Xx

AFM- Still feeling very flat!! Looking forward to my FS appointment tomorrow so I can hopefully get some answers. Not sure when we will be emotionally, physically and financially ready to try another FET. Was adding up our bills last night and because we had a iui cycle, ivf cycle and FET cycle all in the last 2 months the costs have added up... Looking at my paperwork it's going to be about $3600 for another FET cycle and I'm just not sure that we can afford it just yet

Last time I wrapped myself in cotton wool lol this time I'm having my morning coffee and carrying on as normal. No cramps yet from prog or hcg which is a bonus, better not speak too soon! Hope you get your questions answered tomorrow with ur fs let us know how you go x

Jasmeen, I am so sorry for what you are going through, sending hugs your way.
Rai, yaaayy, so excited for you, congrats hun
Bestrong, Im glad the embie made it!
Juniper, could it be just that the pregnyl is gone and the hcg is just starting to show? I think I still would go and have a bt
Myturn, I hope you get the job and I hope you caught the eggie!

AFM, I am taking a break, I wont be ttc for a couple months and definitely wont be having a FET but until November or December, I think, that's my plan anyway... but I still think I should have supplements to prepare myself for when Im ready to go for a FET, I don't know, tablets, tea, etc. Any suggestions?
I went to the clinic this morning for a bt, and the nurse just called me, the hcg is 47, dropping very slow...
Sorry in advance for TMI, AF was here just for a quick visit, my period normally goes for 7 days and this time was 5 days, only 2 days full flow and 3 days brown, just spotting, I never had a "short" period before...

Juniper- We must have been posting at the same time. Are you sure it's just the pregnal? I think you should still have your BT.. Or at least POAS again in the morning to see if the line has gone or got darker Xx

Bunny- I understand you not wanting to get your hopes up... But I'm still praying for good news for you Xx

CatyO- Bugger about your HCG dropping so slowly. I'm not sure about supplements etc but I'm keen to hear what the others have to say cause I'm thinking I might try some supplements and acupuncture for my next FET.

Thanks for trying to hold onto hope for me, ladies, but I've been doing this too long and I know it's BFN. By 15dpo the test line should be almost as dark as the control, so there's no way a squinter will end well. Even my chem pg had a decent line by this stage. Based on previous cycles, the line was the right darkness for it to be just the pregnyl. I had exactly the same result at 15dpo last IUI. There's no point getting up early (ie losing hours of sleep), driving to the city, paying for parking and making DH late for work just to confirm a BFN. I've started weaning off the prednisone this morning and have stopped the other meds.

Jasmine, that's a lot for a FET! Is that before or after Medicare?

Bunnyfeet, FRER = First Response HPTs. I think they used to be called First Response Early Result or something like that, so they're usually known as FRER in the various forums... Hope the 28 days passes quickly for you. DH worked in Perth and Port Lincoln (I stayed in Brisbane) for a year before we were married and I'd only see him for one weekend every month or two and it sucked. I hated being so far apart.

CatyO, if you can afford it, I'd consult an acupuncturist specialising in fertility. They can be very effective at regulating hormones, etc, and helping you achieve the optimum conditions. They'll be able to recommend supplements based on your specific needs. I wouldn't worry too much about the short AF. It's probably because you're hormones are off kilter with the m/c. Hope the hcg continues to drop; it's always frustrating when it takes a long time...

Juniper- Yeh if it's going to be that much drama I can understand you not wanting to bother with a BT.. And yes you are right after so long TTC you get pretty good at knowing when it's worked and when it's not
Yep $3600 total is before rebates but we still need to have the $'s up front to start and the savings account is looking rather sad ATM! I think we get about $1400 back from Medicare. We pay for embryo glue and assisted hatching ontop of our normal FET fee... Does this sound about average once you take off the rebate?

Thanks Juniper sorry to hear your result hugs. So what's the nxt step for you guys?
We've been doing FIFO for 8 months and I hate it too it never gets easy. Do you mind if I grab name of acupunture person you used Juniper as I live in Brisbane too?

Jasmine, that sounds about right then. I think ours was about $1600 after medicare, but we didn't have embryo glue or assisted hatching.

Bunnyfeet, I think you need 50 posts to receive PMs, so if you can post one more time (on any thread, not necessarily this one) I can PM the details to you...

Can you check if private messaging is turned on in your profile settings? I'm hoping I'm right about needing 50 posts. I can't find it in the FAQ...

    *edit*
Found it and it is 50. Might just take a while to update. Will check again later and if it still isn't working we can work out another way.

Juniper, I am sorry to hear that, I hope your AF will not come so soon.. If you don't want to go to city you can just go to the local clinic to do the blood test to confirm it (but you have to wait for about two days for the result). I wish you have BFP...

Today I called my nurse and I asked for a pescription for DHEA, she said she will organise it and ask doctor to sign it. I am not happy for my embryo's quality, I am a litte bit worried but I still want to try DHEA as I know it has side effects, hope my doctore will give it to me and it can help me to improve egg quality. I tried Chinese herbal medicine for quite a long time and acupunture for six month, it helps but the egg quality is still not good enough. I made two appointments next week with the other doctor, hope I can have more help from them.

    IVF Question

    Hi All,

I am sorry for being MIA these last couple of months, we didn't have any luck with the last IUI in May and have been focusing on our relationship and not so much on TTC - I think I was causing myself a blockage my head was so caught up in it all.

Anyway, I plan on catching up on your posts and seeing where everyone is up to soon, in the meantime I have a quick question as am now thinking about IVF (I had a birthday in June - so 39 now!!! Eek!)

I see Dr Luckensmeyer in Brisbane - when I rang to get some prices on IVF the receptionist told me I have to make an appointment with a nurse at QFG and they go through it all with us.....is that right? Has anyone else done this? What sort of things do they cover?

Thanks in advance for your help - and I look forward to reading your updates asap!

    Love Westy xxx

Beestrong- Good luck at your appointments with your new doctor. Hope it goes well Xx

Juniper- Thinking of you honey.. How are you going? Xx

Westy- I think most clinics are reluctant to give out pricing over the phone cause it can vary a lot depending on your needs and also depending whether or not you have PHI. Generally clinic fees do not cover things like hospital fees, anesthetist, treating doctor fees and non medicare claimable meds (like Crinone, Progynova etc). My last stim ivf cycle ended up costing about $11500 upfront and I recieved close to $5000 back in medicare rebates.. But bear in mind the out of pocket costs can vary from one clinic to another. I then pay about $3600 upfront per FET and get about $1400 back from Medicare. HTH Xx

AFM- Counting down the hours till my FS appointment today. Had an all out melt down last night... I really need some answers!!

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Juniper, how are you going? I am thinking of you too.

Awesty, I think first time I paid about $9830 ( About $8500 to Monash IVF for the precedure; $750 egg collection; $280 transfer; $300 for anaesthetics), I received about $5,300 refund. So you will be out of pocket about $4,500. Maybe different clinic has different price.

I feel very gassy and acid in my stomach for a while, I was taking Zantac for more than 1.5 month, it seems not much help, so today I am going to see my doctor again to ask for the other tablets, hope it can help. I want to do the other stimulation cycle because I don't want to prepare for transfer and embryo is not surviving by defrost.

Oh Jasmine you poor thing I know those meltdowns not nice hope you get some answers and a good plan in place today.
Thinking of you today Juniper hope you're ok.
Bestrong I suffer with reflux on and off and I found just taking a really good probiotic, half teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a drop of water and liquorice tea helps as I didn't want to be on any meds while doing ivf and its worked for me.
Hi Awesy. Yep I think all in with IVF, icsi, anaesthetist, hospital excess and meds we paid around $11000 upfront for our first ivf and got about $5000 ish back from medicare
