Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception May 2013

I had no idea that was a concern with ICSI. I have a few friends who have gone the ICSI route with success (male factors). We don't really need to as DH has 'super sperm'. I could punch him every time he says it!

Afm- another BT this morning. My arms are sore now. So this will be our last cycle for a while. My body is tired. Even my brain. I don't have the energy to be stressed. On the plus side I don't have the energy to be stressed ;-)
Hope they tell me O was yesterday. I have the usual sore throat so I think it was.

i also havent read/heard about icsi having larger risk of abnormalities - all the studies ive read & discussions ive had with fs's over the 3 years of doing ivf have highlighted the increased rate of abnormalities with ivf/icsi treatment, however have been associated with the underlying reasons for couples accessing ivf/icsi treatment (ie sperm quality, health problems, age etc). once these reasons had been accounted for, the rates for abnormalities were about the same as any other naturallly conceived pregnancy. :dunno:

CD3 for me..... Here we go again :( feeling really deflated all of a sudden, keep asking why I even bother trying..... But I'm not going to get my bubba if I don't so scan next Wednesday and FET the Wednesday after

Ceejelz I feel exactly the same... just really deflated and often wonder if I would be better off moving on and accepting my life without a baby but the fact that I have 2 more embryos keeps me going at the moment. If it comes to another IVF cycle I might be questioning if I can keep going... Did a HPT this morning and it was negative so I'm comfortable to say that Friday's BT will be a BFN so I'm down and angry at the world...

I just got a phone call from the nurse at the clinic. with my blood results I had on fri. was day 23 and 1 week after a pos opk, my progesterone was only 2. so low. What's normal? im getting it redone tomorrow.
but I think it means we won't be doing a fet just yet. ..

I have been here, but not a great deal to talk about. This waiting and not doing anything is taking forever!! :( just over 3 weeks still until my second lap. It has been almost four weeks since my diagnostic lap and I am slowly getting back into the gym but it has been really hard to get back to pre-lap fitness level. ,it might sound weird (but then again maybe not as you are all going through this crappy journey too) but I keep getting really angry and down about getting ahead in my fitness and then having to back off all for an FET or now these laps :angry: Sorry little rant over now for a question.

I am now 2 weeks late after my lap, I know I should be happy that I am not getting my period but is there any need to be concerned at all? Has anyone else had a lap and then not got their period?

TT40, you'd normally want up around 30 at 7dpo, although you could get away with mid-20s. In a medicated cycle, up around 45 is better. Sorry to hear it's not looking promising for transferring.

Kel, you had you lap around O time, didn't you? I'm surprised you haven't had AF. She showed up 2 weeks after my first lap (which was done when I was due to O). How long were you bleeding after the lap? Any chance she could have snuck through unnoticed because you were still bleeding? Otherwise, I guess it's possible the surgery was enough for your body to decide to not release an egg. You could always ask your FS about it if you're worried. You could also check with the surgeon doing your new lap whether it will be a problem if you're having a long cycle (I'd expect it's not a problem, but wouldn't hurt to ask).

Afm, still no +opk. The last two have been a bit lighter, so not sure if I've missed the surge or if the urine was just more dilute. I didn't O until CD19 in the cycle after my Feb IUI, so I'm hoping that points to me not having O'd yet.

That's right juniper, I was cd 15 for my lap. I bleed a little the day of and the next day and then the 3rd day it got a little heavier but then stopped by the 4th day. I think I will ring the nurse at my clinic tomorrow.

Has anyone had a reaction to cetrotide injection? I have had gonal f since wednesday and last night I had my first cetrotide injection, and for a couple hours I was very itchy n the area I had the injection, I spoke to the nurse about it, and she told me to see how I go tonight and if it gets worse they will have to change the medication tomorrow. Im just concerned about it, because I think if they gave me cetrotide is because is the right medication to have and if they change it, it worries me that it wont work as good as cetrotide?
I dont know what to think, perhaps I should just have the cetrotide and harden up a bit hehe, anyway is only itchy for a couple hours or less...

Any advice on supplements or tea that I should/can have while doing IVF, apart from elevit of course?

CatyO I had that reaction with Cetrotide, can't remember for how long it lasted but I definitely remember having the itching.

Hi Kel82, did they alter your protocol or you just kept having the cetrotide?

I didn't talk to the nurse about it, I think I must of goggled it and was reassured it was ok. I am a real worrier when it comes to medication. :)

The cetrotide itch is totally normal.

With regards to supplements 600mg of coq10, high strength fish oil, vitamin D, melatonin, DHEA....there's a whole raft but it's best not to take anything without your FS's okay. For them to have any bearing on your cycle, you need to be taking them for three or four months continuously in the lead up.

Yes, the cetrotide itch is common. I don't remember having it (but might not have noticed with all the other meds), but I remember the nurse warning me it might happen. Maybe I just ignored it since I knew it was expected? I've also used orgalutran as an alternative, but haven't ever changed mid-cycle.

Ditto what N2L said about the supplements. Best to discuss it with your FS and you need about 4 months to affect egg quality.

You could also consider acupuncture (again, you need 4 months to maximise egg quality, but the pre- and post-transfer treatments can help even if you haven't done the lead-up treatments).

Thanks Juniper76, I have been doing acupuncture for the last 8 weeks, I hope that helps a bit, it is my first ivf and I wasnt really concious about all the things you can have to improve fertility or to help ivf, egg quality and all those things... until 2 months ago, I feel a bit guilty for not doing anything before, in the last 2 years, but well I am here, cant change the past...

I didn't start until after my 3rd IVF, so you're doing better than me... ;)

Wtf. My blood test yest. Said a bfn . I panicked on sun day because I woke up and lost all my symptoms nearly :shakehead: but tried to tell myself it was all in my head.
On to of this my best friend wasn't going to tell me she was preg, but did after I told her about my Bfp. I was so bloody happy! And my friend is not going to keep it, she is getting it taken out tomorrow ... what is wrong with life?! She was praying so hard to lose hers and I praying so hard to keep mine :shakehead: why couldn't it work like this?!? I hate all this. I have to watch her lose voluntarily what I try so hard to have and love.
I am shatterd.
