Hello,
Nervously rejoining in here after almost 2 years away from AC. Have appointments with both MIVF and Ballarat IVF next week (am between the 2 so will see which suits best). Nervous and excited... Have much reading to do here to catch up. :)

Me - have our house on market. first person went through friday and sees broker tonight as she is love with it and wants to see if she can afford it! ive told DH it all seems to easy to me. we had our first home open yesterday. one couple came with a tape measure, but their bedroom suite wouldnt fir in our master bedroom. bummer! they loved it too though
it just makes me feel good after all the effort we have put into our little piece of australia!
Transfer booked for thursday. just need an embie to survive the thaw on wednesday! fingers crossed

I haven't posted for a while as been feeling a little down. My sister in law has just had her first scan today, I could just imagine how happy they are.
I am starting my synarel next week so hopefully I get my BFP.
How are you doing Ellie?
Could someone one confirm for me why we can't have transfers back to back? Is it due to your hormone levels needing to stablise?

Hi everyone
Just a quick note to let you all know that I am about and reading and trying to keep up with everyone. Sorry to see that there has been disappointing cycles recently but hopefully things will look up sometime soon.
My house looks like a bomb has exploded - I have packing stuff and boxes everywhere... still it will be good when we move, which is only next week now. And I start my new job next week as well. Talk about busy.
Managed to have a good chat with our FS here at MIVF before move to Canberra. She has recommended that we try a natural cycle or even clomid assisted as it is pretty clear that my body is not responding to the FSH drugs. She is going to write a comprehensive referral to my new FS at SIVF who I am going to see next month. We really want to try for another cycle this year if we can. The prospect of trying something different has renewed my enthusiasm again. I was dreading having to start again with another down reg cycle because of a new FS, so hopefully, that won't be the case.
I will try to keep in touch over the coming weeks but we are not sure yet when we will be able to get internet on in the new house, so take care all and good luck to you all wherever you are in your cycles.

I have just had the call from the clinic! I am scheduled in this Wednesday morning! OMG am so excited / yet nervous!!!! So anyway deep breaths! Tonight have to take the trigger shot and last dose of synarel and then we are on for 9am on Wed morn!!!!! Can't believe it is finally here!

Nat sorry to hear you are down! Its such a rollercoaster this journey and not fair at times! I got a text message the other night (after my chuck) from my best friend in the UK. She was here in June and I told her about my probs and she told me that she and her DH would start trying in the coming months as well.
Anyway her message was to announce she is PG! I couldnt believe it! even though I am happy for her! Was really torn, especially knowing that they hadnt even started trying and she fell PG first go!
I really wish for BFPs all round for us ...we all so deserve it!

Nat - Welcome!! As for back to back transfers..some clinics do them, i tried once but my body just wouldn't respond to the drugs 2 months in a row but on the 3rd time back to responding perfectly again. Sometimes it just needs time to get back to normal. Plus its very emotionally exhausting while we get obsessed and so focused on TTC at the time sometimes we don't realise we need that break. :)

Well weekend away was nice, except i caught a cold which is going wonderfully with the synarel NOT!! It was lovely to catch up with everyone but hard to see everyone pregnant... and giving you that look when they say... and how are you feeling Shannon? Thank goodness nobody knew we are currently doing a cycle so i just avoided the question.. damn big families! Lovely to be home though!!
FS tomorrow morning not my usual but actually my SIL ob so that should be fun, for scan and book in EPU and then back in my FS capable handle for EPU and transfer! So looking forward to no more injections!!
Gotta go to bed im exhausted! Talk soon!

Wow! Just so much happening it's really hard to keep up! I realised I'm only 2 weeks off starting again, and hopefully then I'll be checking in a bit more often and be able to keep up with who's where again.

I was wondering does anyone know much about acupunture during IVF
What do you want to know, Nat? I've been having acupuncture for around 12 months - as part of that I have had treatments aimed at treating infertility and have used it in support of my IVF cycles.

Hi Butterfly Warrior - I have just heard alot people swear by it and saying it helps with fertility. What are your thoughts on it? And is it very expensive? Does it interfere with IVF treatment
I find it to be extremely beneficial - even if the claims it makes towards boosting fertility are untrue, it has been invaluable in terms of keeping me calm and relaxed and coping with everything that is involved with AC.
I go to someone who specialises in infertility, IVF support and miscarriage prevention, so everything she does is with the aim of supporting and enhancing what western medicine is doing to my body. They time treatments around what's going on in your cycle. I'd be wary of going to someone who isn't necessarily trained in this area as I've seen it have a huge impact on my body - and I wouldn't want to have the acupuncture mess up the IVF.
As for expensive... what isn't in IVF? It's probably one of the cheaper things - $60 for an hour session, but it's not covered by my PHI, so I get no rebate on that cost. However, both me and my DH believe it's well worth the cost, and well worth the three hours it takes out of my week as I have to drive so far to get there.
Has that covered everything you want to know? Feel free to ask more if I've missed something.

I'm not necessarily a big fan of alternative medicine, but after Prof. Norman from Repromed came out and said there was an unknown link between Acupuncture and successful IVF, I've decided to look into it for DW. The problem will be trying to find anyone around here that has specific knowledge of IVF and Acupuncture. The most exotic thing you can get around here is a dim sim and chips with chicken salt.
I don't think I'm allowed to post links in this thread, so if anyone wants to see the article with Prof. Norman's comments, let me know and I'll PM it to you.

Do I need to mention this to my FS if I do decide to do this? I live in Perth so I may need to ask around for a good acupuncture specialist as I have never done this before. Sorry for so many questions, I just want to try everything possible
Nat, I'd definitely recommend discussing it with your FS. You need to be totally open.

When i was after an acupuncturist i actually called the fertility clinic and they knew of someone in my area. Maybe try that if you can't find anyone.
Things here are pretty crappy .. scan today only 2 good follicles and 6 others we are hoping will catch up by EPU on Friday. Pretty peeved off and dissapointed and upset etc etc etc.. will be friendly later and do personals.

I have also been looking into acupuncture and reading some interesting study results. Assuming we go ahead with IVF it is definitely something I will pursue and in fact, I should begin soon in the lead up to it, rather than at the same time as I think.

Well I have done a little research regarding Naturopaths / Acupuncturist. I have located a lady by the name of Jane who operates at Pivet Fertility Clinic and also has her own clinic in Leederville.
Her first consultation is free for 30 mins. Then she lets you go and have a think if you wish to pursue with the treatment and then consultation fee is $80 each (DW & DH).
I feel confident in seeing her as she is currently operating with fertility patients at Pivet Fertility Clinic so she should know what remedies recommend whilst undergoing IVF / ICSI
If anyone has seen Jane before feedback would be much appreciated

In answer to your Q. I am getting a 2-3 day embryo put back. That is what my FS recommended. I asked the nurses about the diff. and she explained that they have had as much success with 2-3 dayers vs blasties. But will make sure to ask FS next time I see him. I am only getting 1 embie put back in as that is the clinic's policy. I suppose it is my first time, so will see what happens! I am weighting all my thoughts towards the positive category! It is out of my hands now, so all i can do is think positive and stay calm!
Nat good luck with your naturo investigations. She sounds good! I'd give it a shot! At least the first 30 mins is free .. you can at least get a vibe whether she will be able to help you or not!

Nat & Baby - Acupuncture is fantastic, i have done it through all my cycles and chinese herbs as well and it definately makes a different on how i feel and coping with all the side affects... oh and pain free periods for the first time ever!
