Hi Shannon
How long have you been taking the herbs? Have you had Blast transferred before?
Good luck for Friday!!!
Hi Nat
Have been on the herbs since Jan this year, stopped for a month or two in June/July and ended up back with agonising period pain so back on them religiously and pain free again. I find they help a lot with the side affects of the synarel and injections and they have worked really well for my husbands sperm quality. Oh and yep both my previous transfers were of blasts. Not sure if we will get there this time as egg numbers are looking low so we may have to go with day 3 instead.
Sorry for waffling :)
Shan
Thanks Shannon this will be good for my husbands count also.
Try not to get too down about the number of eggs, as the nurses tell me you only need one good egg
hi to all hope your all having a good day.
as for me i had my bt thismorning to check my levels and they are fine so i start the injections tomorrow and craping myelf lol..
Smithy – Don’t stress too much about the injections. I was crapping myself when I found out about injecting myself but honestly it doesn’t hurt one bit. If you knew how pathetic I was with pain you would believe when I say it doesn’t hurt.
I have to say I found the trigger (Ovidrel) a little difficult as it was like the needle was blunt and wouldn’t pierce my stomach. I had to get my husband to inject it. And the other is pregnyl that stings a little for a few seconds but it was fine.
Good Luck
oh thanks nat you made me feel better;)
I have my first acupuncture session tomorrow. Am a bit nervous about my FS appointment next week - am worried they will want me to go back to faffing about and starting from scratch r slowly again. I have been there done that, and I really want to get on with it now, hoping that this will be okay! With MF and PCOS issues I don;t see why not. When I did my IUI's they were with synarel, injections and pessaries, so am well prepared for a long drawn out process - I would just rather endure all that for IVF than IUI. Shall see how we go...
Hi Baby Bliss
I can’t see why they would start you from scratch since you have already been through those options. I would express to your FS how you don’t want to go through all that again and wish to start with IVF. I’m sure they would understand.
Let me know about your acupuncture appointment as I have an appointment on Saturday for the first time
rang clinic for thaw details., and they said call back at 10am as im not booked until 12.15pm. grrrr today was so stressful and yet again i have to wait another day! same as last fet.. oh well we have 3, one should survive.....
Mon- thinking of you today. Hope you got many bewdiful looking eggies, and aren't too sore after. Rest up well.
Shan - thinking of you too. Don't worry too much 'bout the follie no.'s just yet. My girlfriend only got about that many too with her 1st cycle, but they were really great quality eggs, which ALL fertilised, and she ended up with a BFP.
Baby - good luck for both of your appts. Hope all goes well.
Nat - I too am an accupuncture fan. It seems to have helped a good number of my friends conceive. When I have weekly sessions, and combine it with the chinese herbs, I always feel fantastic. I am yet to discover if it helps improve my Pg prospects, but I too have heard and read a lot about how it can. Good luck with yours - sounds like you're onto a good clinic.
Rols - if it isn't too much of a pain, would you mind pm'ing that article to yet another person (me).
Thanks also Rols for your link to the discussion of MF. DH and I found it quite interesting.
BW - I am happy to see that things are starting to move along again for you. I hope your various appts. are all helping.
SSPPB - good luck with injections tomoz. Try not to think about it too much. You'll be fine. Please let me know how you go.
Oh & Sonya - thinking of you & your snowbubs. GOOD LUCK
BEST OF LUCK to all!
All going well still with me, and no nasty side effects from the Synarel. It is just making me feel very vague, which has been good for a laugh! 1st BT is friday.
Cheers!
Arielle
Good Morning Guys
Sonya Good luck this morning! Hope you have the perfect emby to transfer and get your BFP!!
Mon - Hope your doing okay and yesterday went beautifully!!
Baby - Good luck with the FS - just remember your body, your money and just be honest and tell them what your want and how you feel. I don't see why they would object because you have tried IUI several times so its seems only logical to move onto the next step, if thats what you want. :) Good luck!!
Arielle - Good luck with the BT Friday, how soon do you start injections?
Nat - Good luck with acupuncture!
Well just a quick one trigger went well last night, not too painful although i smashed one of teh vials and cut my finger up pretty bad which hurt a lot more than the injection. Blonde moment! Very nervous / excited about EPU tomorrow 730am surgery have to be at the hospital at 630, unfortunately DH can't come in that early beacuse the lab is not open to take his sample so i have to catch a taxi in he will pick me up afterwards. Which sux but as i keep telling myself its only an hour and stop being such a big whoose!
Hope you all have a great day!
Shan
Hi ladies, I had my nurses appointment yesterday and got given my Synarel and injections to take home. Also had a blood test done which shows I ovulated on CD14 which is the first time ! Must be the metformin working!
I started sniffing this morning which was yukky but ok :) I can't believe we are finally here starting this process. The clinic nurse said that sometime when you start on Day 21 that yor period can be delayed?
best of luck to you bec
rang embryologist and first blastie was thawing ok and they were going to check again soon as apparently blasties have a habit of thawing strangely. what may seem ok may not be a little later on. im happy it seems fine and if it isnt they can pull another one out and thaw that. we leaving in about 15 mins. so nervous! you would think it gets easier, but third time round im even more nervous than the first....
Good Luck Sonya let us know how you go
Best of luck Sonya!
I had my first acupuncture treatment today, it was great, lovely and soothing. I was given herbs also, and she wants to start with twice a week treatments and then after 5 weeks go back to a week. This makes me a little nervous, because we are talking about $120 a week.. with IVF in the likely future, it is a little stretching. Will have to talk it over with my husband and weigh it all up. If it makes IVF a success, then its worth it. But we can't know in advance...
BB, purely from a personal perspective I wouldn't spend $120 per week on complementary medicine unless I was damn sure there was a verifiable link between it and IVF. But it depends on your own beliefs and your own means.
We are looking into pre and post transfer acupuncture, but I'm not holding out any hope of finding someone suitably qualified here. The clinic said they had no problem with it at all - the only thing they advise against is chinese medicine.
Hi to everyone. I've been reading daily, but am too far behind to attempt personals.
hi all, just a quick one from me
IUI failed again - AF showed up today - feeling pretty flat and miserable - looks like we're moving to IVF - but no appointments until November cos FS is on leave next month. i guess it gives us time to save some money (pretty pathetic silver lining huh?)
Rols - Thats kinda how I feel. I am trying to work out the benefits - would me having a more regular cycle help IVF when thats what the medicines will control anyway? I could get myself some herbs to do that (to an extent) for a quarter of the price. The relaxation element, maybe a massage every fortnight?
The blood flow to the uterus... no idea. I would love to continue with it, but its such a lot of money, and I don't want to leave us short for IVF (more faith in science in the end huh!?)
Thank you all.
So sorry Briggsysgirl :(
BG, am so sorry and send you a big hug.
Kell and Rols, you give me something to think about.
I have had acupuncture and chinese herbs from 2 weeks before my ET and it soon adds up - especially the herbs. The person I saw tried to tell me the ET wouldn't work unless I had a 2-3 month break from IVF and continued to see him - something to do with blood flow to the uterus, and he was trying to tell me that the IVF clinic just pushes you to do it again over and over again for money, but in a way I wonder whether he is just the same trying to get money from me and saying I have to go so often. The acupuncture wasn't as expensive and was relaxing some of the time, but I did walk out a couple of times and found needles he forgot to take out!!
Kell, I feel the same as you in that if it makes IVF a success it's worth it, but you don't know in advance.
Rols, did your clinic mention why they advise against chinese medicine?
Kazza
BG, have posted in your journal.
Kazza - him forgetting to take needles out - extraordinary, and not in a good way!
Hi everyone. Sorry have been a bit quiet lately, but just wanted to pop in and say hi. I have been reading the posts, has been a bit up and down. To all those having transfers and EPU's, good luck and :crossfingers: Me- have just been hanging in there, waiting for scan next week. Have had all day sickness so am feeling bit more hopeful this time!
Rols, i had to laugh when you likened "the most exotic thing you can get around here is a dim sim and chips with chicken salt." Heeee!!! That's home all right!! I dont think i have heard of any acupuncturists round there, but i do know there is a naturopath close to town, who apparently "specialises in IVF" and also has a high pregnancy rate. When mum told me that i just scoffed. Apparently she is gauranteed higher success rates than IVF, but i dont know, im sure other factors have to be taken into account, not that i dont believe in complementary medicines. How is DW??
Hi Ellie, how are things going? Sounds like you are going to go ahead with another cycle, am thinking of you and hope things go well this time.
Kazza- heheeee, i cant believe that dude left some needles in you!! OMG!!! Did you crack up?? Wow....
Sonya- hope things went well today. Nerve racking huh?
Mon- hope yest went well too.
BG sorry things didnt work out this time.
Hope everyone is well. Sorry havent sort of posted much, i dont want to ignore you guys, but i dont thinks its fair of me either when i know all you guys are still going through tough times. I just want you all to know that you have been GREAT and so helpful in out TTC period :) and i hope things work out for each and everyone of you.
Mel
hello evryone. thankyou for your support.
well first blastie ended up being ok. it was a little contracted, but apparently its common with blasties and my embie is now aboard!
i dont feel too positive, but maybe its just a bit more caution this time. i cant get the ' at least we have 2 more embies' thought out of my head...
BT is sat 22nd sept and AF due 24 Sept. so unless i do a HPT the blood test will be my only clue...
Can't wait to hear if you're having twins Mel!
Sonya, sounds like caution to me and that's the best way I reckon. Nothing wrong with being optimistic but nothing worse than a big let down at the end. You may end up getting a very big (good) shock at the end of the TWW!
Arielle, I PM'ed you that article by the way...
Hi all
BG im sorry hun did you get my message - im home all night.xx
Sonya GL hun hoping to get some good news from you on the 22nd - i know how you feel though about the nerviouness, hoping you dont have to go down as many cycles as me cause after a while the only was to survive is to switch off your feelings IYKWIM?
Mel - good to hear from you hun - when is the scan to check on numbers??
Roles - how is DW doing at the mo?I guess you wouldnt be going to see Antonia very soon as her first consult with herbs is usally over $700. got a bit of a shock with that one.hehe
BB - good luck with the accupunture - ive had it done several times and TBH i get very stressed when i have it, i get clostriphobic (sp?) and get frightened when i cant get up and move, so stoped getting it done but i did see an effect with my af and general health, im now seeing an irrodoligest who is fantastic as he doesnt really give me too many herbs but has educated me on what to eat and not to eat .................................6 pieces of fruit a day and 7 - 14 runny eggs a WEEK! but i am feeling so much better. and i am enjoying it too. i must type up the diet for a GF if you want me to send you a copy ?
Kazz - believe me ive tried EVERYTHING. and after 4.5 years on IVF you would too. Some clinics do not like chinese herbs as they can interact with the FSH that you are given and may not give you a true responce to the drug dose ect - My FS says he happy for any help he can get and is fine with all my alt treatments.
Chez, Nic- whats happening hun havent heard any more from you
Hope everyone else is well and sorry to any i have missed - i know there is heaps and im just getting back into the swing of things so please forgive me.xx
Just thought i would pop in and let every one know where i was at..................i think i may have led you all astray when i posted the other day ...............still not doing IVF just concentrating on getting my body in tip top shape with the NP but finding it really hard not to be doing a cycle
On the good news the NP said that my iron levels are now at 100% so if i had my tubes it could happen natural. he has however had a lady fell pg withput her tubes but i am not holding out much hope for that, so im thinking i will start IVF again in a month, im still on some strong anti fungel herbs to help clense my stomach then i should be good to go.
Hi Lou, sounds like you are healthy healthy!! Thats great. I hope things go well over the next couple months. Scan is on Tuesday so.... not that confident but i think a bit better than last time. Just want to see something in the sack this time rather than nothing.
Rols- yeah, DH still thinks its two, levels are pretty high but honeslty i have no idea...will let you know on Tues!!!
Hope all goes well Tuesday, Mel.
Lou, that would be great if you are happy to share it with me. I have started being more careful with what I eat, but its really a bit haphazard!
Sonya, all the best for your 2ww. I think feeling skeptical has to be a little normal after lengthy ttc.
Just a quick Q? Is it normal for your first AF after starting the Synarel to be quick light and mucky?
Start injections next Thurs so hopefully that won't be too bad.
Best of wishes to everyone with where they are at.
implantation cramping? i only had a blastie transfer yesterday, but have been getting light cramping on and off this arvo. is it too soon for implantation? i know its not AF, shes not due till the 24th. hmmmm?
I would've thought implantation could happen within 3 minutes or 3 days.
Sonya, I was convinced I was having implantation cramping around half an hour after transfer. We had a hatching blast transfered.
Feeling a little down today - more colleagues leaving work next year, pregnant teacher at work due when I was... Trying to focus on the positives, and how soon we can get going again, but not always managing it.
*sigh* I'll pick myself up tomorrow and go wallow for a bit.
BW
BW - oh honey, you have every right to feel down. i honestly dont know how you have the mental strength to tell us everything that you do. please, please take time out and take care of yourself...
on a self absorbed note, after researching on google, the pains have kicked up a notch to constant and am laying down now. all my research indicates it more than likely is implantation... i wont hold my breathe though. only 8 more sleeps until i know.
Hi Sonya, I had a blastie transfer as well and was getting light cramping the 2nd day after my transfer. I asked the nurse about it, and she told me it could be due to the transfer procedure and/or the progesterone pessaries (or crinone gel if you are taking that), but I'm hoping it is implantation for you. I know it's hard and easier said than done, but try not to worry and relax. :)
Loula, it sounds like the NP and changes to diet are doing your body the world of good. I haven't given up altogether on alt treatments, I just didn't feel comfortable with the acupuncturist I was going to and I will make sure I check with my FS before starting anything new. I wish you all the very best for your next (and hopefully last ) IVF cycle.
BW, I'm sorry you're feeling down but understandable. Am sending you positive vibes.
Good luck to everyone else.
Kazza
I'll take time out... when I get to school holidays! Right now, reports and marking need to take priority because I've let them go so long. If it doesn't happen this weekend, I can see me taking a mental health day on Monday and getting it all done before I front up to school again. Only two more weeks and then I can rest... My best estimates look like I'll be up for a transfer either at the end of the holidays or very early in term 4. Term 4's nice and short (around 8 weeks), so I'm looking forward to spending my Christmas holidays resting up and growing a baby. :) There, managed to pick myself up already!
Sonya, I'll be keeping absolutely everything crossed that it is in fact implantation. Everything I've read says that we shouldn't be able to feel it, but I'm damned sure I did!
BW
BecD - congrats on starting your spray. Smithy & I felt pretty A'ok on it, so am hoping the same goes for you.
JoeSpratt- my experience with AF on Synarel sounds pretty much the same as yours. My nurse said everyone is different. Some will get a period, some won't, and those who do, the heaviness & length can really vary.
Sonya - sending STICKY VIBES your way.
Loula - it certainly does sound like your NP has you getting to tip top condition. That's great!
BabyB - the accupuncture does sound rather pricey yes. Could you perhaps chat with them, and see if you could do once weekly sessions? I think $40-80 for a once weekly session is around the norm. Perhaps, once a week would be a more affordable option? OR, I believe some people only have accupuncture pre & post ET (& EPU??). Not that I'm pushing this type of treatment on you by any means. I am just hoping to open up further options for you if you would like to give it a go. You ofcourse can only take whatever course of action you feel comfortable with (and yes, is within your budget too). It is hard to know for sure if accupuncture (or natural therapies) will help increase your chances, and whether or not to fork out your hard earned dosh for something that might help, but may not too. Some small - medium sized studies suggest it can help, but I don't think we are likely to know definitively for a long while (if ever) just how much it helps, as you won't find too many organisations willing to fund a LARGE scale controlled trial on accupuncture treatments (in western medicine, large scale trials are what really give us the stats to prove whether or not something is effective). It would not be financially viable. Only big and very rich pharmaceutical companies can afford such trials, and ofcourse accupuncture is not what they're pushing. Personally, I try to keep as open a mind as poss about it all. I know there is not as much evidence out there to support the benefits of accupuncture & complimentary therapies (compared to conventional therapies), but I like to keep in mind that that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't work. It might, or it mightn't?? This all makes it very hard for the average person to figure out what's crap and what's not. I guess the best we can do is keep an open mind and be as informed as poss. Personally, I have seen some amazing results with accupuncture, and natural therapies, and am willing to take the financial gamble and give it a shot.
Hope this helps BabyB (and I haven't gotten off the point too much??). I do tend to be a bit of a rambler when I'm passionate about something. SORRY! Good luck with your treatment, whatever you decide is best to do.
And good luck to all!
Arielle
