Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception September 2012
Nirenotrom - I am so sorry I know how devastating it is to have a cancelled cycle. Here's hoping they can give you a better protocol next time that works for your body. Sending you a big hug.
Missb - I hope ds is feeling better today. You have certainly had no luck with sickness this year in your family you poor thing.
My turn - I hear you with the age thing cause we are the same age. When you have results that show you are heading down the menopause path it makes it even scarier.
I hate this ttc thing soooo much as well.
Here for you all anytime, just thought I would pop in and say hi. Sorry I haven't done persies for everyone...will try better next time.
Sticky vibes to you all xo
Thanks ladies It turned out the bumps on DS's skin are flea bites, WTF???? We don't have any pets Doc said she thinks it could be just contact with people with pets, fleas jump! So very relieved it's not the pox. He does have a cold virus so lots of attention is on poor fella right now and I'm getting tired, not to mention I now have a runny nose and an itchy throat, the cc sucks!
Nire, so sorry to hear your cycle has been cancelled, big hugs sweets
Oh and my two cents worth on the positivity comment, I do think that although it won't guarantee a baby (after all there are no guaranees in life) it will put you in the right head space and give you the best chance possible in conceiving.
Oh I agree Miss B, it's good to try to be positive while cycling (although it gets harder to keep smiling when you're onto your 8th, 9th, 10th plus cycle with no BFPs )
I just think it's not helpful to say "it will happen, just stay positive" iykwim.
Ya, I know what you mean n2l, I have said it myself before I can only imagine how much harder it is to stay positive after so many cycles, so big hugs hun. I really really really hope it happens for you some day soon xxx
hi ladies, havent been on much lately but been trying to keep up and reading most days... been having a little timeout and trying to decide what to do next. had FS appt today, looks like we will be doing PGD next. i think i am ok about doing PGD, it seems to be the logical thing to do after the amount of stims/transfers i have done without success. the cost & the prospect of having nothing to transfer is a bit scary though... but we will at least find out if our great looking embryos are in fact great, or actually 'abnormal'. i start the pill today, epu isnt until november... seems so far away.
sorry to hear your cycle got cancelled, nire. that sucks after all the hard work you put in with the injections etc.
miss b - flea bites are the worst, they drive me insane. so itchy. hope your little one is ok. xx
on the positivity thing, i think you do what you need to do to get through. if thinking positively works for you - fabulous. if it doesnt - fabulous also. personally, i find i am up and down with each cycle, some cycles i feel great and optimistic. some cycles i just dont feel 'it' from day 1. hasnt altered the outcome for me yet. i wish i could start out each cycle with a positive outlook, but if previous history is any indication of future outcomes... its a bit too difficult for me. atm i try and stay somewhere in between - realistically hopeful?! cautiously optimistic?! somewhere there...
Sorry Nire sucks ... I have triggered at my brothers 30th birthday in their ensuite AND in a restaurant bathroom at a work function..... weird feeling that.....
... here's hoping that single follie will do the trick...
Miss B - glad Cameron hasn't got anything more sinister!! Still I'm sure it's not nice to see him like that!!!
krikkit - I hope the puppy isn't driving you nuts tonight....
thanks Jayejaye and Joe - it's you guys that help us keep hoping.... even though we never know what the future might hold - it doesn't mean it's all over!
Andie - here's hoping this cycle brings different news for you - I know you just keep at it, and I wish there was a way we could make it an easier road for those of you in particular who have multiple BFN's I know that watching newbies come and go in and out of here must be harder and harder each time..... goes for you to N2L....
N2L - I feel mixed about it - like you, I know that it's unhelpful to say "it'll be okay..." DH said that to me last time, and I knew at the time it wasn't true - that he couldn't promise me that... and yet in some ways it was comforting as well... didn't change the outcome, but did make me feel a bit better in the moment...But I think you do get to the point of knowing that things may NOT go the way you want, and I hear what you were saying - don't promise things that you can't keep.... it just hurts, and is unrealistic.... at the same time... sometimes it's nice to hear too... it's nice to hear the positive stories - but I know when people say that they are just being nice... because no one can say how it's going to turn out...
Nevertheless.... I went in last time saying that there was no reason that one COULDN'T be THE ONE...... and it kinda was... even though it didn't work... it was nice to feel okay about it, and nice to feel that it was possible... I guess that's what we are all saying isn't it... let's try and keep out chin's up....
sometimes I feel bad complaining about how I am getting old, when I know those of you in you 40's are further along than me... I know that circumstances have led me here (as miss b said - it can't always be helped...).... but sometimes, like the other day - it just catches me by surprise.... I am getting older - there is no doubt....I have no control over this... not really... and it just sucks I guess I just know that you guys are the only ones who get that, and so... you are the ones who hear my cries, cause...well.... at least in here, I am not so alone....
I am plodding along, still not sure whether to start a cycle this year, or have a bigger break.... will probably see how I feel when I see the FS next month - 29th October ..... (juniper can you add it into the list.... will help me feel like I am going somewhere at least..
Wondering whether I should go with Acupuncture next cycle - apart from higher meds - it was pretty much the only thing I did differently this time... I think the higher meds helped so that the eggies were ready earlier in the cycle - only by a few days, but I think that means the eggs are better quality.... still annoyed there was nothing left the freeze... again... probably ahead of myself though.... (which is of course... common for me... over think... over plan... blah blah blah.....) I guess I feel more like myself the past week, and just want to get on with things again... feel like I 'should' lose weight first...but.... just don't want to keep waiting for everything....
Andie, interesting....I've been thinking about PGD today too! Did you read Minnie Mouse's post in the PGD thread about her AA embies? It really got me thinking....
I've looked into it too ladies, except we're not getting enough embies to do the testing. My FS said I needed around 8 to 10 embryos preferably, to have a go at the testing, but I'm getting a lot fewer than that and they might not survive the testing and then I will have nothing
Glad you're feeling a bit better myturn, will be following your journey closely Give the acu a go hun, it can't hurt! (except your pocket unfortunately). I have decided to miss the acu this cycle, but have been taking CoQ10 instead. If it does nothing to the egg/embryo quality, I will do both or instead of acu I will do fresh herbs + CoQ10 in the future. Then I will run out of ammunition! lol.
yeah i did... i wondered if thats going to be me in november. i really struggled with the decision, but ultimately i just want to know now. even if i just do it once. it will help me decide whether i need to start considering donor egg or sperm/surrogacy/more fur children...
juniper - I was on the same dose of gonal f 450.. I don't think you can inject much more in one go... the quality of mine were just cr*p
n2l - thanks for the link Sometimes I wish I didn't want to know so much - this process really makes you over think! as far as staying positive, I am always thinking towards the next cycle and how or what I will have to do during that cycle and how we are going to afford it. I guess its just a built in thing, where as hubby is more "go with the flow"
nirenotrom - so sorry
andie / miss b - I asked about PGD at our clinic, but they have a few requirements that need to be met like 10+ failed stims before they will do it. and at a huge cost. I guess something always make you think what else haven't we tried kwim?
AFM - pessaries! eeeewwee! hate them. I get 4 progesterone a day now, till friday anway. you would think at 10dpt I would be getting a bfp nothing
oh, and we returned the puppy - too much too soon and you cant put a nappy on it and it thought DD was another pup so would fret and bite and chew on here lol.. cute and barky little weeing furball.
4 hours of sleep is not enough. More b/w this morning, so another 5am wake-up after getting to sleep at 1am again. Wonder if we'll get the LH surge today? I was pleasantly surprised when my FS said he would normally have skipped today but had me come in because I'm worried about my body not doing the right thing. He had been so dismissive of my concerns when I raised them on Friday (and left me feeling like I'd offended him), so it was nice to know he actually did take note and consider my worries. He tends to be very "I know best so do what I tell you", but maybe there's hope that he does listen because I'm not a "blindly follow directions"-type of patient any more...
I'm trying to convince DD to have a morning nap (so that I can have one), but she's not having a bar of it... *sigh* Have to go to work for an hour after lunch, so an afternoon nap is out of the question for me.
juniper - glad your FS is listening to you. i remember reading your post about your appt and thinking i would not gel too well with your FS at all...!
any luck with your lh today?
Andie, yeah, I have some problems with him on that front, but I know he is one of the best, so I'm willing to put up with it (to a certain point) but will make him put up with me being pushy too (that's fair, right?).
Sooo, when I spoke to the FS this morning he said they were looking for E2 between 600-1400 to indicate O was on the way. Yesterday's was 1252, so I had hoped the LH would be up today. Not so... E2 has gone up to 1642 and LH went up to 18 (from 16 yesterday). I'll be asking him about the E2 tomorrow when I go in for yet another b/t since it's above the range he said and I've been worried about my oestrogen being too high... Hoping (yet again) that tomorrow will give us the LH surge!
After two nights of only 4 hours sleep, my plan for tonight is to go to bed early (whenever I start to feel sleepy), even if DD is still up, and let DH deal with whatever needs to be done. He's napping right now (his training finished early today), so he can afford to go to bed later, even if he's the one going to work tomorrow. I shouldn't be running myself into the ground like this when I'm relying on my body to function properly...
Hi All, sorry I haven't been on here very much been finding it really hard to keep up with everyone I had the BT yesterday and we got a BFP, we are soooooo cautious not to get too excited so will just be taking it day by day!
Juniper that's good that you speak up to your FS, it's so easy to walk out and think oh I should have said this or that. Hope you get a good sleep tonight.
Nire i'm sorry you cycle got cancelled, big hugs xo
MissB I hope your lil man feels better soon, that sounds like an annoying combo of itchyness and sickness.
Hi to all....Big Hugs all around I am thinking of you all and praying for BFP's all round that stick and bring us all our lil bundles of joy.
