Hi Rach, big hello to you too. I hope that the next week or so goes quick for you so that you can get started. I hate that waiting time... but i guess this whole journey is nothing but a waiting game. Best of luck with everything!
HEY RACH.

everyone else have a great weekend and you new mummys get out into the sun this weekend and rest up YOU DESERVE IT RITE
lilmisshavachat, rach, smithy, wishingbaby and muppity, thankyou for all the nice words! I greatly appreciate it, and I hope all get your BFP's this cycle. :goodluck2:
You have all made this journey so much bareable and I sincerely wish each one of you the best of luck with IVF. It can be draining and there are so many dissapointments along the way, but it will all be worth it when you get your BFPs!
Paula welcome back from your trip, and hope your next cycle goes well for you. I'm sure you will have lots of success this month after a nice relaxing holiday in Europe! Congrats on the new house too!
Ruth, your story sounds very similar to mine, expect we only realised we had issues when trying to conceive #2, so our DD was indeed a natural miracle. Wishing you the best of luck in your IVF journey.
And to anyone I may have missed, hope you are doign well and wishing you all the best in whatever stage you ar up to!
Well, I'm glad to see I'm not alone with my sniffing. Seems that Paula is sniffing with me and soon Rach and Smithy will be too.
My Dr doesn't do the whole Pill first thing. He didn't really say why, it's just what they do. I'm pretty glad as it just seems to prolong the agony!
It's nice to see the BFP from Luckystrike and Nic. Congrats ladies. Reminds me what we are all in this for!
Anyway, I'm feeling a bit down because two sets of friends of ours annouced a BFP... which is great for them but ... grrr it should be me! *childish tantrum*
Anywho, hope you are all enjoying a fantastic weekend and I'm off to do some sniffing!
Background:
I went off the pill (after 8 years) in June 06 and haven't had AF since. and found out that I don't ovulate (probably stress related).
Started OI in August after some delays, and did not respond at all (75u gonal-F).
Went to FS this week expecting him to tell me to just increase the dose etc, but no...
Found out I have Factor V Leiden, a clotting disorder - meaning he won't consider continuing with OI due to increased risks of developing a blood clot. He also thinks I'm an all-or-nothing girl, so I'll not respond and then 'wham' I'll over-respond. So he very matter-of-factly told me that IVF (and 50% likely to be IVM) was our next option.
I was pretty floored because I hadn't really prepared myself for this! And DH wasn't there as he couldn't get out of work (clearly he would have tried had he known that would be the conversation!).
I know that a lot of ladies are going through IVF, but I'm sure you all remember how you felt when you first found out. It's quite a shock.
Then of course we get to the money side of things - FAR OUT I really had no idea. We need to come up with around $10,500 upfront, but will hopefully only be about $2,500 out of pocket (after we hit the safety net this will go down).
So we're waiting til Jan 09 to start, because we can't fit 2 cycles in this year due to a holiday and work commitments, so it makes more sense to wait til Jan. Also gives me a chance to try and loose a few kgs, get as healthy as I can, and give us every extra chance of success.
We're going on holiday in 10 days to Vanuatu, which is a celebration trip as I've recently submitted my PhD thesis. After that we'll be telling DH's immediate family about it (they have no idea of our fertility probs) and most likely asking his parents if we can borrow the money. We're actually heading off to visit my parents this weekend (they live in the country and we haven't been to their place for ages) so we'll take the opportunity to tell them face-to-face.
I was wondering how many people have told their work about being on IVF? At this stage I think I'll tell my office manager and direct boss, but not until Jan. I think they'll be supportive and I know the process of taking time off etc will be easier when they are not questioning why or thinking I'm slack!
Anyway I just wanted to say hello, I'll be lurking around here following all your journeys and learning a lot in the process!! BB has been a great help to me so far.
And if anyone else has FVL I'd love to hear your stories - I'm heterozygous for the gene. Interestingly my FS told me I can't ever go on the pill again and should always wear compression stockings when I fly (hmm, in the last 2 years I've flown long-haul international flights several times and numerous national flights - whoops - plus I was on the pill for 8 years!).
just popping in after being MIA for weeks... wow time flies so quick, i cant keep up with all the personals!
welcome to all the newbies, hope you find lots of support here and a BFP soon! And congrats to all the shiny new , congrats girls and wishing you all H+H pregnancys . To the 'old timers', wishing you all the best in whatever part of your cycle you're at!
AFM, have been slow on the IVF front waiting for AF to show. Was a long cycle this month, no wonder FS was keen to cancel! I'm usually so regular. So now been taking Clomid for 5 days to give it a kick along, and off to FS on Monday to see how the follies are growing... hope he can actually find one this time! I so want to be able to do FET in October and get started again, feel like I've been marking time for months since EPU. very frustrating. Optimistic though that I'll be ready to go in a week or so
will try and do personals when i've had a chance to catch up with it all! Have great weekend everyone, Abbie
Paula : back, good luck with this course of IVF, Congrats on DH promotion and new house.
Rach 81: Hope time goes fast so you can start your next cycle sooner.
Ruth 08: It can be very frustrating when family and friends are all getting their BFP's and you are still waiting for yours, I also go through the stage just after being told thinking it's not fair why them and not me. I guess we all just have to be strong and know that we will get our BFP's one day soon.
Mrs P: Welcome Hope you have a fabulous time on holiday. Any questions feel free to ask all the ladies here are fantastic.
Abbie: Good luck with clomid and FS appointment. Keeping and thinking positive thoughts for you.
AFM Still injecting BT on Monday to see how things are going.
Good luck to everyone with what ever stage you are up to.
Nicole S and Lucky strike woo hoo Congratulations on your hard earned BFP's, that is fantastic. This sure is a lucky thread!
To everyone else, keep up the good work, we all deserve a little happiness
AFM: Quite excited and nervous, my EPU is tomorrow morning at 10am. We were out last night and I had to give myself the trigger in the car of all places!!!! We had to be very organised with the cold pack etc to carry the injection around, but it's all done. It was a dream sleeping in this morning without having to wake up early for the Synarel.
Hey guys,
It's so nice to be a part of a thread again...
Neptune - goodluck with your EPU tomorrow - for you!
Wishing baby - goodluck with your BT tomorrow re: bimbis!
Abbie - I hope you get the results you are loking for tomorrow!
Mrs P - I hope your FS can find the way foward for you adn DH, I am sure they will. As for telling work - yes I always tell them. I got very very bloated from the injections and I had to do some of them at work as I work funny hours. Also when I did fall pregnant (miscarried around 8 weeks) I stayed very bloated and round - my uniform didn't fit etc. I can tell you they were all so wonderful about it. Whatever I needed I got. They were super supportive about miscarriage too! I ended up needing a lot of time off work and so it was just easier to be totally honest - although I understand why some people don't do it that way too. Hope that helps you...
Smithy - wow 13hr drive (I will never whinge about the 40-50 minute drive I have I promise!
You are right it will be all worth it in the end!
Paula - I hope AF arrives soon hun - lets go with the injections!
To everyone else I am for you all!!!!!
AFM - about to get some more homework done if I stop procrastinating on BB!!!! Also am loving the new smilies - check them out!! totally cool!
Hi i have a question
sorry if its too much information, Im on IVF 1st time
Do u still get your normal cervical mucas like normal? like say when u ovulate when your on the nose spray and injetions? im new at this and im not sure whats normal? ive just had the clear stuff when your spose to ovulate. but do u have that when your doing IVF???? any help?
Sorry I've been MIA again. DH went away for work and took the laptop with him....I'm totally LOST without it!!
Been thinkng of you all though and looking forward to logging on and seeing what is happening.
As usual when I go MIA, I'll catch up on all my personals soon.
Just wanted to say a quick hi to..
Neptune- All the very best for EPU tomorrow. Drink lots of H2O afterwards and have a realxing day. Looking forward to hearing some good news from you.
Smithy- My sweet friend...I hope the drive goes well and your appointment is very productive and will send you on your way to your BFP. Drive safely xx
AFM- appoinment with my FS tomorrow. I stopped the pill on Wed and STILL no AF for me. Am meant to start needles on day 2, but FS said that if lining is thin enough tomorrow, I can start jabbing then. How bizarre, but I can't wait to get those needles into me!!
Ruth, sniffing buddy, i know exactly what it feels like to need to have a "childish tantrum" from time to time, its the best way to let our frustration. Its so hard to not feel upset about others around us getting BFP's, of course we are happy for them but we always think, Why not me?!
Mrs P we all totally understand the inital shock. Thats why we are so lucky that a site like BB exists because we learn so much and realise that we are not alone. I told my office manager and boss. I felt that they needed an explanation for the time off (EPU & ET) and for the emotional wreck i was at the end of the cycles. They were both very supportive and i am glad that they knew.
Thanks for your kind welcome everyone. I'm officially jabbing now! I'm super pumped about it too. I feel very proactive and brave for doing it. DH had to look away - the big wuss.
Bel - yay for the jabbing! As you can seen I'm keen too. Hope you can start soon.
Paula - You got any side effects from the sniffing Paula? What can I expect???
Brooke - sorry this is my first time too, so I don't know what to expect re CM. I reckon it would be unlike normal seeing as you are pumped full of hormones. One of side effects of synarel is dryness....
Hi Ladies..
How exciting for you both Bel and Ruth08.. I know the feeling of wanting to get started..
Abbie - I hope your FS appointment went well.. Did you make it to the second Brissy catch up..
Mrs P - I'm extremely lucky that my Inlaws are my bosses, but that said I work with 8 guys and only one girl.. They've never known so much about ovulation before.. For me I find it too hard to hide what i'm up to and I reckon by being open and up front maybe that will help someone else..
Wishingbaby - goodluck with your BT.. I hope it gives you the result you're after..
Neptune - I hope EPU went well for you and you got lots of eggs...
Paula - Goodluck with this cycle..
Brooke2550 - Welcome.. I hope this cycle is the only one you need..
Hi to anyone i've missed..
AFM - Tomorrow is my Lap, Hysteroscopy (spelling?) and D&C.. I can't wait.. One step closer.. So far we are unexplained and i'm not looking for an answer.. Just a start.. Theory is ...If they find Endo, scarring or any other type of damage the answer is IVF.. If there is no damage we will look at assisted cycles of either OI or IUI or stuff like that.. Either way, let's get this show on the road..
Hi Lilmisshavachat, couldnt make brissie catch up cause i was out of town, so wanted to see everyone again... will have to get better coordinated next time, or maybe a weeknight?? Good luck tomorrow with lap etc, cant say i know much about it all but sounds kinda scary to me... hope you get some answers!
