Hi Nix, thanks for the reply, but my bad.....i should have explained myself better ...i understand the process of what the surge is however, with my IVF experiences i never had to bother checking with OPK's or symptoms etc...my clinic usually knows when to trigger me through blood tests...maybe its a different protocol????
Just wasn't sure why people have to check themselves....sorry if it sounds dumb..
Hey Emerald - oh sorry! First I don't have any BT's in this natural, drug free cycle. I would have had a BT today if I did not ov on the weekend so they could get a better idea of what is happening. So it was only based on US and pee kits. Interesting tho you talk about a trigger - do you mean a trigger injection? I don't have one of those. Or when you say trigger maybe you mean trigger for ET?
I think there are obviously a few variables between clinic to clinic, FS to FS and then of course person to person. I noticed that today when reading up on 2 emby transfers.
Another new week is upon us....I am sure that this is good news for many of us who are anxiously awaiting the next milestone in our cycles...
lise ~ I have just saved this reply in word. I wrote a long reply last Thursday night only to lose the whole thing when I hit the "submit reply" button...aaaargg!!! Anyhow ? I hope your EPU went well today and everything is on track for the ET on Wednesday!
Nix~ The surge you are referring to is known as Luteinizing Hormone or LH. After detecting this surge you will ovulate within 24-36 hours. It?s important to do the test at the same time of the day and avoid drinking liquid 2 hours before the test as this can dilute your LH levels. Monitoring your basal body temperature (BBT) has to be done immediately upon waking up. By recording your BBT you can closely monitor when you are about to ovulate. A dip in temperature is the day you ovulate and a temperature spike following this dip confirms ovulation has occurred. The temperature increase is due to a surge of progesterone caused by ovulation. In addition to LH tests and BBT you can also chart your cervical mucous. However not that you will need to do any of this now because you have ovulated yay! I did all of the above for 3 consecutive months before surrendering to IVF. I wanted to give myself the best chance of conceiving naturally before attempting AC. GL with the FET tomorrow!!
Emerald ~ Great to hear you have two quality embies on board and I am sorry the others didn?t make it. Hope the TWW is going well and it?s not stressing you out too much!!! I love your little POAS countdown. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!
Sonjalouise~ Sorry to hear that you didn?t get the results you were hoping for on your first scan. Hopefully the increase in your dosage will speed up the growth of the other follies that are lagging behind and there will be lots of eggs for EPU! Hang in there and try to be positive.
Airline~ Glad to hear your BT results were perfect and the synarel is working according to plan! I have been taking synarel over two weeks now and over it. It?s making me all nasally and when I cough it sounds like I have the flu. GL with the injections! I have just started taking mine ? more about that in the ?AFM? section.
Tantee~ Sorry to hear you couldn?t start your next cycle as planned. Try to rest up and enjoy the month off.
Tracy ~ GL with your next cycle ? hope synarel treats you well!
Mitf ~ hope you are well ? not too sure where you are up to in your cycle ?sorry ???
Hello to everyone else who I may have missed !
AFM ? well a lot has happened since my last post....I had my first down reg scan and got to see my little empty ovaries. As there were no problems with my scan my FS gave the green light for the FSH at 100IU. I was very excited to be embarking on the next stage of my cycle until I remembered about the injections. The nurse advised I would have to inject myself at 8pm. So the next day I was counting down the hours when I was due to inject myself - eeek. My DH injected me on the first and second night. Then on the third night which was yesterday I injected myself and girls you are right they are not that bad! I have a one bruise ? which is the injection DH gave me and now my stomach looks like a pin cushion, but apart from that all is good. I have my first scan this Wednesday so we will see what happens!
Before I go, one last question - just wondering if your partners provide a sperm sample at the clinic or feel more comfortable doing this from home and then driving to the clinic.....

Thanks for all your thoughts and wishes regarding EPU today - will write more a bit later!
mummawannabe - 2 different EDDs?? How funny!
Tracy - welcome back on the roller coaster! Hope it's all going okay for you so far this cycle. Sorry I can't help with your synarel question - I don't take it so have no idea.
airline - I hope that AF is behaving herself now and acting like she should be. And glad you can start injecting
Nix - tomorrow. Sorry we won't cross paths but hope it all goes well. Which FS will you have this week? My FS said this cycle (after 1 cancelled cycle) that if we only had two or three embryos this cycle we'd transfer two. And i'm the same age as you. But as you said before, they're all different so hopefully it all goes to plan for you.
Emerald Star - I don't think there are any dumb questions when it comes to IVF (or anything else for that matter!). The more info we all have the better!
Mel - glad you found injecting yourself okay! Our original plan was for DH to do it so he could feel part of the process, but he wussed out completely and I do all of them myself! GL for your scan on Wednesday (are you at MIVF too? If so I might see you ) As for DH and his contribution, so far he's taken advantage of the 'supporting materials' at the clinic and although admits to some performance anxiety, hasn't had any problems. We have a bit of a joke that I get anaesthetic and he gets porn - sorry if TMI!
AFM - had EPU today. Went well although the nurses told me to be there one hour before I needed to be, so I had loads of time to wait. Oh well. Have been resting up all day, and DH has been cleaning and cooked a roast dinner. Had 7 eggs collected so am hoping they all fertilise and we have a few to play with.
I'm terrified that i'm going to get another phone call before ET on Wednesday saying something has happened and we can't continue, though I know the chances of that happening again are small. So deep breaths, and positive thoughts.
Hope you all had a good Monday, especially those of you who enjoyed a public holiday
nix - have you heard from your fs yet re. popping to embies back? I hope they come to
the party if that's what you want to do. you're making an informed decision at the
end of the day
mel - great news that you're finding the injections not too bad. I decided that I'd give
them to myself as 1. dh not always there 2. if I have to go through it all, I'm
giving myself the flipping needles!
I do find numbing area with ice block helps though. dh has done the deed in my hospital room when i'm in theatre/recovery and drives it to clinic...5 min. away.
lise - 7 eggs is great...well done, and fingers crossed between now and wed. for ya
AFM - it's official AF has left the building. Very odd, fleeting visit, but clinic said all good. soooo 8am tom. morning is no. 1 injection. up to 225 gonal f now, so saying a and doing a, cos 2 weeks Wednesday and it's EPU whoo hoo!
Hi ladies, Thank you everyone for all your reassuring words, I have done a lot of research on follicle growth and feel a little more at ease. I guess I was just focusing on the fact my FS said there were only three possible follicles mature enough. I just hope the rest of them have caught up.
Lise- Great result for the egg pick up! I hope they all fertilise. How are you feeling? Have you recovered ok?
Mummawannabe- I saw that story about the woman with the two EDD, it is amazing!
Tracey- Great to hear you have started again.
Airline- I am so glad your AF worries are over, although reading your descriptions have been very amusing.
Nix- Great news about the surge finally arriving, hope the transfer goes well and they let you put the two frosties in. DH and I are secretly hoping we can put two in as well.
Meltcc- After losing a few epic posts I now write all my responses in word then copy and paste. Glad to hear your injections are going well. Dh has gives sample on site as we take over an hour to get to the clinic, he hasn?t had any problems as far as I know.
Emerald- Not long now!
AFM- will find out today when the EPU is, I am very ready to stop the hormones my body has started to protest!
Will anyone be at MIVF today - I will be there for ET at 3.20pm. My fill in FS has agreed to a 2 emby transfer. I could not beleive it when the nurse said he changed it on the system for me.
Quick one sorry..
Mel - thanks for that info on surge and ov and BBT - there is stuff in there that I didn't know. I'm going to print that and keep it - thanks heaps.
Lise - My FS is Scott Pearce but he is away so I have Houssam Elzeiny - his fill in. I have no idea who he is or anything about him, but I am sure he is fine adn is not going to make a dif to my ET results. He was the one who made the call on agreeing to a 2 emby transfer. Anyone heard of / use him at all?
Lise - 7 is a good number - that is really good. You will get a few out of that for sure and even if a couple don't make it that still seems like a good number. GL for ET.
Airline / Sonya - thanks foryour wishes. Am glad about the 2 back. Its still such a big decision. I needed more convincing than DP - he just wants to increase our chances and I think he really believes that both will not take so twins is a remote chance really. But we are Ok if twins does happen - my gosh that will be MASSIVE and instant family!! I will be so devestated tho if neither make it. I also have a bit of a theory that if my body is not ready then neither will take anyhow. So is it a waste? I've decided to just go with it and see what happens - and that there really is such little amount of actual control over this whle thing. Its up to mother nature from this arvo on. (and of course me to look after myself. Am taking tomorrow off to rest up well)
Speak to you ladies soon - must run am leaving work early obviously and off tomorrow so lots to do!
Hey sonya, great news re. EPU date today. I'm imagining little blobby hormones running around your body with placards....probably similar to
Nix..you posted just as I started to. Good Luck..buckets of it with sticky dust vibes sprinkled on top!
AFM
well......this morning's first injection actually hurt a little, not putting needle in...or slowly pushing the end/button thing in, but we hold it in for 10 seconds and by 8 I was like, 'oooh that's sore' not sure if it was volume of liquid....hope it doesn't continue. For those who are worried about injecting...it still wasn't that bad...not as bad even as getting a BT. For me the worst bit is the speculum...and the ET. I have tilted uterus and oohhh it's not nice!
anyway, have a lovely day everyone!
OMG - did anyone else notice BB was down for most of today - I was having withdrawal symptoms!
Had ET today - the fill in FS was fantastic - highly recomend to anyone. It all went well and I was wrapped to have my DP there with me. Our 2 emby's thawed well, apparently they were 'x" number of cells and they both lost a cell each but then gained them back ?? - apparently a common thing. But they seemed pretty happy with the 2 and so we are now officially in the BT on 20/10 Bring it on!!!!
Nix, yes!! I was dreadful this afternoon, trying to get on every 5 minutes. Methinks I need to get a life
airline - woohoo, injection time! Though sorry to hear it was a bit painful for you. If it's any consolation, they do get easier with time.
sonyalouise - I know what you mean! My hormones are out of control at the moment and i've put on several kilos since starting injections. I don't know if hormones make me eat chocolate or if I just have no self control when i'm hormonal, a bit chicken and the egg I guess! Hope you start to feel a bit better soon, and that EPU isn't far away.
Nix - glad ET went well today and that you got your two put back in Will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you and hopefully will be joining you in the 2WW tomorrow.
AFM - ET tomorrow at 10:30. I've booked acupuncture appointments before and after and am still deciding how many days off work I should take. What do other people do after ET?
Anyway, i've got to hand the computer over to DH. Have a good night everyone.
Nix- My FS is Hossam Elzeiney, and I really like him, even though he did make a mistake about which scan I was in for at one of our consults. Glad to hear the ET went well and that you liked him. It is god to hear feedback. My FS told me about two embryo transfers that if a 100 women under 35 had two transferred and all the pregnancies were successful that 33 would have twins. So you neer know you may end up with two yet.
Airline- You are funny, I think that at the moment the hormones are now running around jumping for joy because I just had my trigger and will be in for EPU Thursday yippee! I hope the injections get easier.
Lise- You must have been posting at the same time. Good luck with ET tomorrow, when did thhey let you know the ET time? I was told today about the EPU but not ET. I was thinking of calling tomorrow because I also need to book acupuncture. But it will be a Saturday so it might be a bit tricky.
I am not taking anytime off after ET as it is scheduled for Saturday, but I am having Weds-Friday off. I decided to take tomorrow off because the hormones were getting to me a little and I have this terrible wheezing cough that I pray doesn't turn into anything more.
sonyalouise - glad you finally have dates for EPU and ET, such a nice feeling!! The nurses call the day before ET with the time and depending on where you go for acupuncture I've found they're great about fitting in ET acupuncture sessions.
I've been poking around the site for a little while and have decided to join the chat. I am about to start my first IVF cycle on Thursday and trying to keep the anxiety under control!
My story so far is that we have been TTC for about 3 years without absolutely no success but was repeatedly told by my GP just to keep trying due to my (relatively) young age. Finally changed doctors and was referred to FS in January. Turns out the endometriosis I've suffered from for almost 20 years is to blame, with scar tissue preventing anything from happening.
So here we are! i'm looking forward to sharing the experience with others going through the same thing as I have no one around me who really understands...
Good luck to everyone- may we all be blessed soon.
Lise- Thanks for the quick reply, I will wait until Friday, and hold off on annoying the nurses. just finished half a block of chocolate, it is all those hormones fault I really hope I am pregnant bacause then I can blame the pregnancy
Meg76- to the forum, It is a great place to vent, share and find out a wealth of information. The ladies in here are great! It is so nice knowing that there are others having simlar experiences. I am guessing from your name that you are 32-33 years. I know the feeling of being told just keep trying you are still young and then before you know it you are not so young anymore and no closer to having a family.
Good luck with your cycle! Do you know what protocol you are on?
I am not posting anymore tonight. Yes Nix and Lise I was also having withdrawal symptoms. Very interesting considering I was a long time lurker and nervous about posting.
Meg76 - welcome! I'm sure you'll find loads of answers and support here, I know I have. Here's hoping now FS has identified the issue your ART journey is a short one.
Well no phone call yet, that's a good thing right?!
I have a couple of questions about Egg Pick Up. I was wondering if anyone has had it done at the Royal Womens? I was hoping I would be at Epworth but there are no beds :-(
If so could you tell me if they did a sedation (when you were half awake) or a general?
I know I should have asked my FS or nurse about it but I completely forgot when I was talking to them.
