looking for some insight

Hi, i am quite new to all these forum stuff, so i think i am in the right place to ask questions.....i am in my first cycle of ivf and i had a scan on friday and i had quite a few follies. there but they were not quite big enough, got a phone call that afternoon to tell me that i will be going into theatre on Tues. morning for ER, so to have my trigger injection tonight....my concern is how do they know if the follies. have grown enough without another scan, and even if they are not big enough they will be released after today anyway, so my concern is when it comes to the ER will they be ready? i am probs stressing over nothing but been as this is a first for me was looking for some advice from someone who has been there b4...Thank you xo

Hi Dove,

I had quite a few follies for my first EPU and had 20 eggs over all, there will be some mature ones and some maybe not quite developed, I ended up with 7 embryos after my EPU and ICSI. You still have a full 24-36 hours before your pick up try not to stress and take it easy. Make sure that you have lots of protein and lots of water after your EPU to reduce the OHSS, I can speak from experience here.

I understand your concern but you needn't worry.

During my 1st IVF cycle I had enough follies but they also weren't big enough on the first scan. This was on a Friday and I had to return on the Monday for another scan. They had grown heaps over the weekend and I ended up with 15 eggs.

During my 2nd IVF cycle, my follies also weren't big enough at the 1st scan but they didn't send me for another. I too was stressing because I wondered how they knew if they would grow to be big enough. But they are very experienced and know what they are doing. My follies again grew a lot and I ended up with 8 eggs.

So please try not to stress to much, we have to rely on our FS doing the best thing for us

Thank you very much, i feel more settled now, its great to hear from other women who have been through it and have more knowledge about these things , when you are going through them feel huge but sometimes it just takes some reassurance to know they are all good!!
