Oh Bell - I know exactly how you feel, I couldnt even tell DH late last night when my TWW was over, I felt like he was going to be disapointed as he was so positive "this was It"...
Im doing it really hard this time, I even packed away the baby clothes I have had neatly hanging in the "spare" bedroom, since my first + , they are just such a reminder of what should be, DH wants to wait till Feb to start on IVF again, he wants me to take an 8 week break - he doesnt even know the half of how devastated I feel, thank god, or he would want me to wait till JUNE or something.. I will just leave the 8 week wait alone, he will come around, it's just a man thing, he doesnt understand my obsession with becoming preg, he just knows we are trying really hard for a bub ...
I know Im rambling, I have no-one else to talk too, but my keyboard and my cyber friends who know more about me right now than my family ....Oh God I hope my FS is WRONG !!!! and it's not my age ....
I would be going insane right now if it wasnt for BB - thank god for Kelly - the creator of BB ..

Age not a factor
WLAB, it's totally not your age. Just two weeks ago our naturopath told us to our faces it's not your age, it's what you do for yourself. I have absolutely blocked my ears when anybody has tried to pedal that crap to me. I know the stats make our age look bad, but I refuse to accept it as a sentence.
On what to do to improve your eggs, firstly, follow the IVF instructions to the letter. Secondly, make sure you are on a good pre-conception vitamin. I take two InNatal by Bioceuticals a day. You can get them at good health food stores. My naturpath swears by Fish Oil - the EPA DHA kind. She makes me take 6,000ml a day - 3,000 in the morning and another 3,000 at dinner time.
I swear by B6. I saw some women talking about Vitex on one of these forums and I looked into it. It delays ovulation, which I don't think is good for PCOS ladies. But it lengthens the luteal phase, which is absolutely necessary for implantation. I did some research and found that B6 was the component of Vitex that supports the luteal phase. Other members had said they were pregnant within 3 months of starting on B6. And it's exactly 3 months since I added it into the mix.
The other thing I swear by is iron and folate. Never mind this 500ul of folate a day. I think all up I take about double that if not more. I just use a cheapy supplement called FGF. Comes in a little white bottle with an orange lid and costs maybe $8.
There's plenty of other stuff I take, but I've taken that for more than a year. I think the B6 and iron+folate were the things that made the difference.

Books
This book is so simple yet we refer to it all the time:
Conception, Pregnancy & Birth by Dr Miriam Stoppard
Welcome to Dymocks Online. More for Booklovers.
Natural Fertility by Francesca Naish is a bible for any woman who doesn't want to ruin their body with contraceptive drugs:
Welcome to Dymocks Online. More for Booklovers.
I started my journey with Dr Ruth Sharkey's Natural Conception:
Welcome to Dymocks Online. More for Booklovers.
For the boys, Dr Ruth Sharkey's Fertile Fathers is essential reading:
Welcome to Dymocks Online. More for Booklovers.
And Swimming Upstream is also one for the boys, but I also found immense comfort in many of the quotes men made about the social impact of infertility. Can't find a link for it - we borrowed it from our counsellor. I'll see what I can find later.
Hope some of these books are as supportive for you as they were for me and DH. Hope those links work!

OP - I would be lost without you, and I know in my heart of hearts, that when I hold our bubba in my arms, one of the reasons will be because of your research and passing it on to me, so I thank you in anticipation. I am going to print your post and shop around at a few health food shops until I feel I have found the right one, if there is one positive in this negative result, it's that I am going to go into my next cycle with my eyes wide open, and you have helped me do that ..
You know me - One More Question !!! - what is your favorite ttc book ?
2mrow is 6 weeks for you - woo hoo

Favourite Book
My favourite TTC book, if there can be such a thing, is Swimming Upstream. I just found a link for it:
Swimming Upstream - The Struggle To Conceive
This book was written by a man for men, but it's really useful for both partners. It was the first time my husband found any kind of recognition for the way he was feeling or the journey he was going through. For me, someone in that book referred to himself and his wife as "Childless Parents". That described exactly how DH and I feel.

Good morning everyone,
Wow OP the book sounds great- i think if this cycle ends in BFN i will def be out to get a copy! Are you having a 7 week scan? are you on any meds now? If i get a BFP i am to start progesterone pessaries until my 7 week scan.
WBAM - how are you feeling today hun?
Today i have a heavy feeling not cramping but i know my uterus is there if that makes sense, and i have been quite nauseated at night? I know i know i'm thinking to much but i can't help it!! Due for my next pregnyl tom.
Hello to everyone else!

Oh WLAB - I'm sorry the cycle didn't work out this time. There will be babies! It will happen for you. It will happen for all of us. I think this should be our mantra, we should all repeat this to ourselves every morning.
OP, with the amnio, we're all so used to having all the information, but what you have to think is what would you do with bad news? I don't want to have an amnio because I don't think I could terminate a pregancy I've worked so hard to get - but that's everyone's individual decision. There is such a thing as too much information. Most of the tests they can do by blood now anyway.
AFM, still don't know what's going on - worked out that if I did o last week that AF would be due around the 20th (I have a routine luteal, just not the follicular stage) so I might just POAS on Christmas Day. I go in for my scan on Friday re the cyst and will ask them to do a BT also to see if I did o.
Re improving the situation (and egg quality), my naturopath has heaps of dietary advice particularly for people with PCOS. I don't have the bits of paper with me, but do have them at home so can post that if you're interested. I've changed a few things. I take vitex - it's to try to regulate the cycle and get a more regular 28 day cycle rather than the variable one I've got (I take one tab days 1-14 then 2 until next day 1). Naturopath said I'll have to come off the vitex (and the other one I forget the name of) when I start an IUI cycle as they can interfere with the hormones you inject. I would recommend seeing her - she's great. Resonance Therapy in East Malvern (Melbourne).

Stuff
WBM - I think the risks for a 40 year old mum are quite different for a younger one. So I will do the amnio because I believe it's the responsible thing to do. There's another test to do now instead - CSV or something like that. I'll ask the clinic tomorrow when we go for the reconfirmation PG test.
Bella - I had shocking cramps around 10 DPO. I thought AF was coming and put myself to bed. The cramps have continued up to about two days ago. Now I've got terrible runs, which I understand is my body trying to adjust to the new hormone levels. And my heart rate is way up. Normally it's about 66 but resting rate is currently 88. It goes up to 100 if I hurry down the street!
The waiting and the anxiety never stops. Every little twinge makes me a little scared. Six weeks is nothing really. I won't feel 100% confident until 12 weeks. And even then I'll be worried about the 19 week tests.
Shades, what's happening with you lovely? AF due tomorrow? Let us know how you go. We're all thinking of you.
OP.

I'm being pretty quiet at the moment sorry... Yeah AF is due tomorrow or Fri... we've just bought a new house and we're going away for a week on Fri so either way I guess something good's happened but yeah - don't feel pg :(

WLAB popping in to wish OP all the best with your HSG Levels today -
The test you can have at 10 - 12 weeks is a CVS, I was two days away from it with my first Pregnancy, they take a sample of the placenta through the cervix and test it for chromosones, from memory one was virtually 100 % with there results, in my second preg I booked in for the amnio, Initially I chose CVS b/c we could have results 5 weeks earlier.
OP - a word of advice, in Melb, as soon as I found out I was preg I tried to book into the RWH for the CVS and or amnio, and they were booked out. I had to ring around to get in, keep that in mind.
Im not sure what I would do if I become preg again

Thursday
Shades - I felt distinctly ordinary before my BFP - so anything could happen for you! Diamond kept the faith for me while I was saying "no, no, no". So I'll do that for you!
Maccas, welcome! We hope you feel free to jump in whenever - I know for my part having this forum has helped me express so many feelings and has helped keep me sane. A few of the girls here have been doing some of their treatment at home, so just ask if you're ever worried. Giving yourself injections can be pretty intimidating in the beginning.
WLAB - thanks for that tip. Who would have thought such a procedure would be booked out! We've done the BT this morning. Results due around 2.00pm. Our FS really wouldn't get into stuff with us too much today. She's still as cautious as ever. But we did tell her we want to go public through the widwives centre at the hospital and she was approving of that. She said once we have today's results she'd book us in for the week 7 ultrasound and give us all the printed info on courses of care.
I'll update later today! Feeling a little anxious. Oh hurry 12 weeks!
:-)

OP - Up nice and early and visiting FS - I will be thinking of you today and look forward to hearing your wonderful results.
Forgot to say thank you for the info regarding suggestions for books ...
-
Well thanks for being my positivity then OP... I'm afraid though that unless AF arrives in the next 24 hours I'm going to have to leave you all hanging for a week until I get back from holidays!
-
Just popping my head in quickly to wish you good luck today OP with your results. Im sure your hcg will come back in massive numbers!!
Also thinking of you today Shades. Remember its not over till its over, as OP has showed us
Sorry, no time for any more... good luck to every ones else whichever part of your cycle that you are in. And welcome to macca too :D

Levels
Okay, hCG is 2958. Prog is 29. Clinic didn't seem fussed about that but I don't feel so good about it at all. Some quick research indicates the healthy Prog range is 12-20 for this stage so I am trying to accept that as being okay. That research also said hCG of 3600 is the first point at which anything will be detected on a scan, so the clinic obviously thinks I'll hit that point in the next week.
I'm booked in for more bloods next Friday plus a scan. I don't feel that secure. Hopefully bloods and scan will help me feel more confident.
Oh hurry Jan 21, when all this is behind me.
:-S

I'm sure you'll be fine OP - trust the clinic - I'm sure they see a lot more pgs than we do!

OP thats great news. Relax honey!! I agree with Shades. Listen to the clinic, they know more than we do. Also, any amount of research you do on the net can leave you confused with conflicting information. Trust the clinic and trust yourself - everything will be just fine babe!!
