Hi Babysteps!! It's aweful isn't it........waiting around! I was a very impatient person before I started with the clinic...........how things have changed! My blood test is on the 9th! I had a very faint positive on my IUI # 1 however blood test was negative. It was a very good lesson for me NOT to do a HPT. I won't be doing it this round that's for sure. I'm just counting each day down!! I've got symptoms.....dizziness, very sore nipples.....however this time I know that's the pregnyl injections kicking in so i just have to keep everything crossed until the 9th! Good luck with 3rd!!!

    Hey girls!

I had my appointment with my FS this morning and then the QFG nurses and start my FSH tomorrow.

The next thing will be my ultra sound which happens next friday.

    Very exciting!

Well I had a BT this morning and I'm expected to have IUI on Mon (CD15) but I'm concerned that they won't have done any U/S beforehand - only another BT on Sun... Situation explained more fully on my blog... advice??

Hi Shades. My 2nd cycle was a little late and I ended up having a blood test and ultrasound on the friday (day 17), got a call that afternoon to take my trigger and I was in for the IUI on the Saturday (day 18). That was my only ultrasound for the cycle! My nurses completely run my cycle.....with the drugs I don't think you can ovulate until they tell you you are going to ovulate!

I just read your blog Shades not 100% sure about what you are doing with the drugs etc.. BUT if i were you i would ask for an U/s on SAt and then b/t Sunday as you had planned.. Not much point doing the IUI if there are no follies and what you are paying for the sperm they should listen to you.... My clinic won't do a IUI without a scan i go to a imaging place to get it done then go to them with the results..... Good luck working it out.......

    Thanks for the help ladies

Baby2Bee - all I'm on is FSH (occasionally a trigger) but nothing that would stop me ovulating if I was ready... I'm more worried about the fact that there's no U/S planned prior to the IUI so how will they know if there are any follies??

Janeo - I'm thinking you're right about that being the way to go... I hadn't actually thought about getting an independent U/S - I don't think I would get the results in time, but most (if not all?) the FSs at my clinic have portable machines in their rooms... I'm sure they can find someone to check out my bits :P

I think I'll call tomorrow - thanks for the sounding board Sometimes I just get stuff running around in my brain and I just need to get help to simplify it!

Hey shades, give them a call in the morning and ask if it's ok to do it without the ultrasound.
Given that the sperm and other costs are not cheap, they should be making sure the timing is right.

    Good luck!

    Hi all

Janeo - you should come into the TWW forum.

Thinking of everyone TTC - hope 2009 is the year for everyone.

AFM - Waiting, waiting, waiting and trying not to get hopes up too much.

    Take care

Grr - my FS receptionist isn't in today, and the clinic nurse I spoke to said they can't override the doctors/they don't have access to U/S machine/I shouldn't worry because not all docs use U/S anyway/blahblahblahcompletelackofhelporreassurance.

I could have sworn women on FSH were supposed to have every second day U/S to monitor follicular activity in case of overstimulation???

Shades, I'm on FSH and don't have an ultrasound booked until next friday.

I don't think that it is the case to have every second day U/S? Maybe I'm wrong, I'm just a newbie.

    Scans

Shades, I always did scans around day 9 and then every couple of days until follies were about 1.8mm or more. I've never done a cycle without them - IVF or IUI. On FSH I usually ovulated around day 12 - day 16-18 on break cycles.

If you're not getting the support/service you need from your clinic, choose another. Not sure where you live and whether this is poss for you, but I'd consider it. When we switched out one clinic for another, we were immensely satisfied with the new program. And quite justified in the end too.

    Good luck to you!
    OP.

OP - I'm hesitant to change FS or clinic because I know I'm very lucky in that my FS doesn't have a problem putting it through Medicare as infertile (even though as a single I'm just 'socially' infertile), and I paid nearly $500 registration for the clinic I have been contemplating switching within the clinic but I need to do some more research I think...
Sue - my mum's suggested the every 2nd day U/S might be a butt-covering tactic on the part of the medication manufacturer, so they may not be essential.
