Minnie - So close! I will be stalking FX

Joeve - sorry I know it's a long shot, but it aint over till AF shows up.

Mitch8 - Boo to back at work. Good luck too

Sunbeam - hope all goes well with your family and good luck with your FS appointment. Hope he has good news.

AFM: STILL waiting to ovulate Maybe next weekend, if I'm lucky. We are trying to have very frequent BDing to keep DH supply fresh. In the past we have been lazy and usually waited till O day, but it clearly isn't working for us so we are trying to do it more often

Joeve: I think clomid sometimes fixes short luteal phase but it never did for me ! I never had a problem with my luteal phase until I started having miscarriages

    So sorry Joeve
Good luck Minnie for whenever you decide to test!
Hope you ovulate this weekend Tasha.

I'm feeling lightheaded and PMS-ey so not feeling good about testing tomorrow. My natural luteal phase is a pathetic 5-8 days I'm on progesterone which extends it to 13 days but as a bonus I get 5 or so days of extended PMS before AF arrives! So I'm sure it's around the corner...

tasha: good idea to change things up a bit, i hope you are/have ovulated

    hi crafty, matthewsmum and sunbeam

afm: i tested this morning and it was a bfn, i have got REALLY bad back pain at the moment and some cramping, my boobs are so sore (from progesterone), because i don't bleed until i have stopped the progesterone i can never tell if its af signs or not. i have had a lot of pain this cycle so who knows

    Thanks Joeve!
Minnie - argh, those BFNs are just horrible to see aren't they? - even though hopefully it's just cos its too early. Fingers crossed for the next test Tomorrow?
Do you usually have pain during your cycles? Maybe it's a good sign? I agree tho, it's impossible to read any signs when you're all "hormoned up"!!

About the woeful luteal phase- I went to 3 GPs, a gynae and then a FS about it. The 3 GPs told me I was wrong and the 2 specialists took a whole lot of convincing that it was true. I also spotted all the years I was on the pill and later, when on progesterone
Blood tests showed that my prog levels were good until day 6 or so, then they just dropped off to nothing I had a lap and exploratory d&c last July to check things out and except for mild endo (unrelated), everything was fine. Since the d&c, I still have a natural luteal phase of about 8 days (but don't spot during it anymore) and only very occasionally spot while using progesterone now. I'm so sure my luteal phase and poor uterine lining was why I miscarried twice. Unfortunately tho, my uncooperative body won't let me get pregnant again to test if the d&c and using progesterone is the winning combination!!

Sorry - I'm sure that was way more info than you were asking for, ha ha ha

mich: not that wasn't too much info lol actually i have more questions, have you been on progesterone only on iui cycles or have you done progesterone on natural cycles too ? do you use it from ovulation usually ? and do you still get af when she is due while on them ?

i was talking to sunbeam about short luteal phases and how no one can explain it you just get progesterone, no one seems able to sort out why it is actually happening a lot of the time with ttc, ok you have such and such a problem here you go treatment xyz will fix it without actually finding out why it is happening

Thanks Minnie, it's nice to be able to chat with people who actually know what a luteal phase is! Wish we didn't have to!!

Yep, I've used prog on LOTS of natural timed intercourse cycles as well as the IUI cycles. It definitely extends my LP. When I only used one pessary a day I got AF after 9 days even tho I was still using them. But now I'm on 2 pessaries per day, I don't get AF until 48 hrs after I stop them (I stop on day 12 with BT result so have never tried longer than that ).

I agree, LP problems seem to be really poorly understood. My drs said it could be due to poor prog alone, poor egg quality or physical problems with the lining - so they just attacked all possibilities - progesterone pessaries, letrozole for egg quality (more recently) and a d&c for the uterine lining. But of course - it doesn't fix the LP, just treats it. So when people say to me - "oh as soon as you stop trying, you'll get pregnant". I think - well maybe, but why would I sign up for a guaranteed miscarriage?
Sorry, that went a bit dark!!!

So how about you? Do you use prog from 1dpo or is it later? Will you keep using it til 14 dpo? How much are you on? What's your LP without the prog? So many questions! Ha ha

Mich: I use progesterone from about 2 dpo & use it until 14 dpo, having a day 12 blood test & stopping sounds good to me, it takes a few days for me to get af after stopping them. I have 200mg twice a day.
Good luck for your test :-)

Without the progesterone my luteal phase is 9 or 10 days, I guess it's hard for others to understand & you tend to hear they just relax blah blah, not helpful !

Joeve: I take clomid from day 2, good luck with this cycle

Afm: test negative today & I have had a dreadful headache since yesterday so I'm sure I'm out

Boo to BFN and headache Minnie, so sorry.
Good luck with the new cycle Joeve!

AFM - BFN this morning As a small consolation prize tho, I feel like I lost a little bit of weight this week on my health kick. Must try not to let the BFN throw me off course!
