Porsche, that was an early appointment! Good news too - hope all goes well for EPU next Friday. It's so easy to do! All the cycles I've done have been with a Lucrin injection to repress my FSH and then a Purgenon (sp?) FSH injection. In one cycle I stopped taking the Lucrin when I started the P. and it was only when we got to near the trigger injection that we realised what I'd done! Oh well, I didn't ovulate beforehand (so that was lucky) and the cycle went ahead. I'm sure it happens quite often. The pens are tricky - you need to do what Ferrals suggested with the drop at the beginning and double check the vial when you're done. Good luck with the rest of it and have a great weekend.

    MatthewsMum - how're you doing?

AFM have been ignoring for a while a very familiar burning pain that I associate with ovarian cysts but now am getting a bit of bloating from it too so am starting to be concerned. It'd be just my luck to get one now when I'm this close to starting. FS wants to scan me again before the cycle starts anyway so suppose I'd better organise that today. Starting to freak out about not working and the cost of this cycle - guess it's just me worrying worrying worrying too much. Going to be hard to be level headed going into this one.

Mildez, we posted at the same time! Strange that we should both be worrying about the money. It IS expensive, especially now the refund is half what it used to be. It makes it very difficult. We certainly won't be doing another cycle this year if this one doesn't work and I had my tax done yesterday and the refund will hardly touch the sides of this cycle cost. Let's' hope we both won't need a second cycle

Alice- don't worry I am with you all the way mate! We will do it together and your ov cyst will rack off so the cycle can go forward! I forgot you aren't working no wonder you can post so much hehe! When is AF due?

Mildez-That is mega expensive, mine is costing $4561, I was originally quoted $4000, so I feel ok, they let me pay in 2 payments also cos our first mortgage payment was due the same time. We have been very good with saving so can afford the next half without borrowing, but were originally going to boorow off mum. I can't believe you are starting so soon, shame you are not with us but it means you will get your BFP very soon hopefully. I can understand your apprehension. ALso my DH was very uninterested until just recently, now he is getting involved and supportive as it is getting nearer so maybe that will happen with you.

Porsche- that must be SOOO annoying about the pen, I will be checking obsessively when I do it now. Hopefully it is just a hiccup and eveything will stay on track.

Crafty- exciting about the house! Good luck with the big move too.xx

Hi Thopes, Ferals, Matthewsmum, Kaybee, anyone else I missed ( i'm doing quick reply and can't check past posts)

AFM- same old, 2 wks til starting sniffing. DH is organising a weekend away for us in 3 wks, cos we won't have a big holiday this year because of cash flow issues, so thats something to look forward to. Also have to tell you what happened on the weekend, we have had a few prank calls from kids left on our answering machine recently, just jibberish really. On Sunday the phone rang and we were too lazy to answer it then DH played back the message it was someone (sounded like a kid) saying " hello if anyone in your family is pregnant and havng a baby in july this is a warning you are going to die", I just laughed it off but DH was really p*ssed off, but i just thought how typical even my prank callers have to keep reminding me I'm not pregnant ( glad I actully wasn't then though I would have freaked out), its impossible to escape constant pregnancy talk!!

Mildez-it is shocking the difference in prices at clinics SIVF cost eprox $8000 for a antagonist cycle with about $4000 back on medicare (from memory) and extra for orgalutran $70-$100 per injection i needed 9 last cycle and 11 this cycle so not cheap but with west mead the total cost of a antagonist cycle was $1450 and i get $700 back after i post all the medicare checks to them i did have to pay $60 dollars per orgalutran injection and as i said a few lines back i needed 11 but i claimed some of the costs through my private health fund and the rest on our tax return so all up we have spent about $2000 from start to finish and i am waiting for the $700 check so that will take my oop cost to $900 after claiming orgalutran on tax such a huge difference in clinics and i found westmead to be more personal and friendly the only thing is you have what ever doctor and scientist is on that day for EPU and TF but i did not care as long as they got me pregnant i was happy with who ever and they are a teaching hospital so i did have a few students observing but i was given the choice i was happy for them to look at my vjay jay everyone else has so why not them.
When we did the PGD we did a antagonist cycle and it was over $14,000 we got $8,000 back the PGD test on the embryos is $4000 regardless of if you have one embryo or 20 so i found them to be more money making than really trying to help families with genetic conditions .
So you work out how clinics can justify charging so much when non profit clinics do it real cheap because they are there to help couples get pregnant i would go back to west mead before anyone else.

    Hi Again Ladies

Alice - My FS likes the early morning appointments lol. I have a 5:30am one on Tuesday haha. So Up at 4am that morning. I will def take Ferrals suggestion in double checking that's for sure. I did the injection with the nurse this morning so I KNOW that one worked lol.

Saffy - Just keep an eye on the pen and make sure it's screwed together every time lol.

Our cycle is $4700.00 so far. PHI will cover EPU bits and pieces. Haven't totaled it all up as yet. That's DH's job.

Sorry for the bi-tch post earlier. Originally our plan was to pay for one cycle and the rebate from medicare would allow us to then afford the 2nd stim cycle if needed. That was with us expecting to pay the $6500 as quoted (IVF Australia) but somehow its now $9500 and that doesn't include our 3night accomodation and fuel etc. And loss of work etc. DH is excited now he has taken a week off. I think having dates really helped although they are subject to change. If this stim cycle doesn't produce the goods I'll be jumping camp to Westmead then Ferrals. Is that the fertility centre your talking about? We are going through Westmead but with IVF Australia and now I am regretting not waiting and going to the other place as it means we could get twice as much treatment for the same price.
The Dr I was taking to yesterday who suggested the antagonist cycle said he was away September anyway (time I'd be ready with long cycle) so Aug would suit him better. Do you ladies think that might be why he suggested the antagonist cycle instead? You know so he gets the buisness not the others? I am now wondering if its influenced him decision to change us. Perhaps I am at risk of overstimulating and he does have our best interests at heart. This is such a mind game. I'm sick of it already and I haven't even started yet. Oh and I POAS today and BFN what a surprise lol. I am 10DPO so maybe early but I have had it before that early and I don't think I am anyway.

    Hi ladies

Wow sure need a lot of money to do IVF and now I can understand why th FS told me not to go ahead as with my age I would only be increasing my chance of pregnancy by 1% to 2 % but I guess if I had the money I would have still gone ahead ! I have my FX all you ladies spending all that money get a BFP 1st try as it only seems fair you are all prepaired to spend so much on your dream and I hope you all get a BFP really soon, the stress must be at a very high level so I hope you can all find some peace and quiet and relax a little.
Alice do hope your not having a cycst as you have waited so long to get to this stage I will pray your wrong in thinking thats the problem !
Ferrals nice to see your name here gald your tired ( must be all that sha**ing ) lol give it a rest girl your embie is stuck tight !
Porsche bummer about the jabs hope your still good to go next week FX you get your basket full of eggies but as I did say to Ferrals you only need one good one ! she is proof of that !

afm well still waiting on a date to collect my keys and this place just feels like a depo atm boxs everywhere but not too much longer i hope. Just trying to relax and keep my mind busy and hopefully get a sneaky BFP some time soon, DH is being so good taking the menevit every morning and no hot baths he is more determined than me I just go with the flow and have stopped taking everything just trying to drink more water and flush out any toxins ! but I have put on 10kg since my mc last sept and just can't shift it ! oh well I am probably not alone on that one hey ladies ?

Mildez-yeh! it is westmead fertility centre in the hospital grounds like i said before i found them to be awesome if you get in early for BT and U/S there is hardly any waiting i always got there around 7:30 for our 8am appointment and we were always done by 8 they only take a certain amount of ladies per cycle so they can manage they share the theartre with the dental clinic so book a certain number at a time.
Even the theatre nurses were great and doted on me not like SIVF i had EPU was wheeled into a room for 30 minutes and then had to get dressed and leave feeling sick and cramping and having to go down a heap of floors by lift with all these business people who share the building then walk half a block to get to our car park which was up 3 levels and cost us $50 for a few hours.
West mead let me rest for 2 hours with a heat pack and they got me something to eat and i got a buggy ride back to see the scientist and then the car park was right across from the clinic which cost $8 for the day i cant fault them it is just ashame they dont do PGD ivf which would have been good so we know our baby is not effected with SLO.

Porsche-another tell tail sign the puregon was injected is the slight ovary ache you get soon after i always got a dull ache within half an hour of injections so i knew it was doing something to my follies.

Saffy-mungrel prank callers i use to have a heavy breather years ago when i was a teenager you could even here him doing himself over the phone so one day i just yelled out dad it's for you and he never rang again lol.

AFM-had a little bit of a panic today what if this baby has SLO how will i deal with it i am anxious for the cvs but terrified of the results because for now the bub is safe inside me and i am oblivious as to wheather it is healthy or not then i thought if we have to end it and start again i would have to wait until the end of october or november to try again this is going to be an extremely hard few weeks god i hope our run of bad luck is well and truely over and we can finely relax and look forward to completing our family.

Ferrals I truely pray your bad luck is over. I'll be keeping everything crossed for you. Signs are great so far thought aren't they with the high HCG? Not that you know a number but such a strong POAS early can only indicate a great HCG level. It must be such a difficult time. If only getting pregnant was the only concern. I'll certainly be booking into Westmead fertility centre the moment I get a BFN. Just not quite sure how to go about it seeing as it too is over 500kms away with drugs etc. I can get all that hear with IVF Australia but don't know how to for WFC. It certainly sounds better and their success rate etc is the same anyway.

Crafty I put it on when I was pregnant ( many moons ago) only preg for 9 weeks but manged to eat enough for 10 people in that time, never been so hungry, so i can't blame the misc, but of course 1 1/2 years later i still have those 3 or 4 kgs hanging around.I'm trying to be careful now I am on the BCP to not blow out cos once I get UTD (Fx) I know I won't be able to control myself LOL

crafty - i hear u with the kg issue! I put on 5kg with my pregnancy and still carrying it! I find I start excercising and eating well for the first half of my cycle then it all goes out the window in my 2ww! Gets me really down!

Wow - cant believe how much some of your cycles are costing! Our IUI will be $1600 up front and should be about $990 out of pocket + meds. Im going with MIVF. They said IVF will be $8500!

Anyway sorry for the quick post, off to the hairdresser now! Having dinner tonight with friends that have just come down from the coast - she is 9wks preg!! Wonderful!! And they are suppose to be staying with us next weekend! I dont think I will cope with her whinging about being sick for 3 nights! S*its me so much!!!

    Enjoy your weekend loveys xx

Ferrals, it must be very scary having that looming over this happy time but you have to believe this little one is a good, strong healthy bub and all will be well or it will do your head in. Worrying in advance will only upset you and you need to be resting. I know it is easier said than done but please try. You've made it this far and I really believe you will bring this baby home and all will be well.

Mildez, I don't think he'd suggest an antagonist cycle for that reason. I had long discussion with my FS about our type of cycle and he said almost all the cycles at SIVF are now antagonist cycles. They are much easier to recover from too, according to my TCM practitioner but the reason I'm doing a long cycle is to try to get more eggs. Given your age etc I can't see how you would be disadvantaged by doing it, especially if over stimulation is a possible issue.

Saffy, what a sick little turd to leave that sort of message on your phone! I'm glad you didn't take it seriously though I agree with the randomness of being reminded about pregnancy like that - makes me mad. I got on a bus a few weeks back and this woman just asks me straight out of the blue whether I have kids. I mean WTF? I don't even know her!! I was really upset about it - sometimes it feels like the universe is rubbing my face in it and then I wonder if there is just some sort of energy around me about TTC that others pick up on? Who knows!! Glad we'll be cycling together.

Crafty, you're not alone in the extra weight camp - I put on about 6kilos during my last IVF cycle and pregnancy - I've only lost it because of this strict diet. In fact, I'm a bit worried about loosing anymore since I'm now a size 12 - don't want to go any lower than that.

T-hopes, lovely to hear you so up - new 'do', new plan - it's all happening!! Don't worry about that friend, try to think of it this way: it's good to be around pg women's hormones as they can make ours a bit more active. It's the only angle I could ever think of to make it bearable!

Well after reading Ferral's last post I decided to ring Westmead to see if they have an age limit (they do - it's 43) and whether they would treat me (they will and I'm going to speak to them again Monday to give a few more details). I just can't get over the difference in price and I don't believe the odds would be that different so if this next SIVF cycle fails we'll keep trying through Westmead until I reach their age limit (18 months). Then I will give up gracefully (well, let's hope it's graceful and not a hysterical mess ). As for the cyst - it's definitely a cyst and I'm going for a scan to confirm. I just hope it pops with my next AF but it's been there through the last one and mine never seem to want to go that way so I don't know how that'll effect things - guess I'll have to see FS to see what he thinks. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend - sooo cold up here, we've got the fire on and I'm snuggling up with DH and crocheting him a scarf. Can't believe he is still not smoking and not one word about it! Just goes to show what he can do when he puts his mind to it.
