Meg, all I can say in your friend's defense is that she has no idea what IVF involves and the emotions that go with it, let alone how a woman feels when she has to go through cycle after cycle with no success. I know I can't say I know what that's like, as I have been very lucky in that respect, but I know what all the drugs can do to your body and the emotions that come with it all. In all honesty, your friend probably thinks that you'll get pg straight away with no problems (of course we all all hoping for that) but the reality of it is that more often than not it doesn't work the first time.
