Dreams - I think you meant to write (or hope you meant) that you hope to hear a BFP from me rather than a BFN. I am glad you are feeling a bit better today.
Kaybee - I have heard from others on here the tests cost in the ballpark of $500 but this would be before medicare rebates. If you haven't already hit your threshold and are about to start a FET, wait until you have put that in before putting your receipts for any blood tests into medicare and if the FET puts you over the medicare threshold for this Fin year, you'll get 80% of the gap back anyway as they wouldn't be part of the awful new rudd/roxon IVF medicare changes. Don't forget you will also get 20% of any out of pocket costs including all precriptions/physio etc back in your tax after you have spent $1500 out of pocket. Hopefully it's just been bad luck and this one will stick.
I know what you mean about thinking about it too much, but if we didn't think there was a chance it would work, we wouldn't keep doing this would we?

Hope everyone is coping as best they can with this roller coaster ride

I had my egg collection yesterday, we had 13 eggs collected. Clinic phoned this morning to say that we now have 10 that have fertalised overnight so at the moment, we couldn't be happier! For some reason I'm feeling so much sorer this time round. Due to a clotting disorder I have, I'm on daily clexane injections & low dose asprin. I start the crinone tomorrow & I think it's twice daily.They told me to drink 3 litres water a day & also to increase protein.

As mentioned before this time around we're going to do our transfer on day 3 rather than day 5. Last cycle we done all our embryos were looking great at 3/4 days then they all went cactus & we only ended up with 2 blastys. My doctor says sometimes they just like to be in their natural envirnoment so we thought why not!! We're also going to put two back in so my husbands already convinced that we're going to end up with twins!!

First of all I want to send a HUGE apology to Lairdoz! I was meant to say BFP! I am so sorry for the major hiccup, it was NOT intentional at all. I want you to have POSITIVE results.
Every positive result I hear on here brings a smile to my face, more so because I know how much it has taken you to get to this point and I wish nothing but the best for you all. It also gives hope to others.

So sorry for you guys Loops and Trueblue. So unfair :shakehead: Loops hopefully you'll get UTD naturally while waiting for October to swing around - getting all the bills paid off in the meantime. And Trueblue I know how frustratingly annoying that 'unexplained' label can be - my FS keeps telling me how lucky I am compared to some women, but I think, if I'm so lucky where's the baby? I hope next month is the one for you.


Porsche and Rhichichi - Hi, GL with your upcoming IVF appointments - I really hope you're out of here before long ;)



AFM - had scan and bloodtest today and have FET scheduled for next Thurs. Also spoke to FS about finding it out why I'm still on this ride seeing as everything is supposed to be fine with me and DH. I don't want to have to go through another mc before they start doing some tests. So, he's given me a bloodtest form for some clotting disorders and other genetic stuff. He said it might cost a bit - don't suppose anyone knows how much I'm looking at for the tests???? He also said DH should have a sperm fragmentation analysis - which I thought was a bit weird since I have about 5 more frozen embies, (therefore taking his sperm out of the equation), but he said that fragmented sperm can affect embryo quality. :bluesperm:(Sorry to get all technical but thought someone else might find the info useful).

Ahhh, also feeling like I have been thinking about this cycle too much already - not even up to the TWW yet and I've been on here everyday - just feel like I'm setting myself up for a fall. :rolleyes:

Gee you hit the nail on the head with your comment about being lucky I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure how much your BT would be I guess they all differ. Should the people who look after the sperm not know which ones are fragmented?

Just a quick one from me before I dash out the door.

Kaybee- I hear you honey about being "lucky". I have heard that several times as I'm healthy, ovulate every month, hormone levels are normal, DH's sperm is great and I responded really well to the stim cycle and our embryoes have been described as "incredibly robust". Oh year, well why the &%$! am I not pregnant!! The other comments I love are, " It's still a numbers game.", "It's not an exact science." and "You really have just started." Really helpful!

Sorry for the lack of personals and been so quiet. Not joining in much as I am not quite up to the ac part still ttc naturally. Got 27days to go and boy and I counting. AF arrived yesterday a day late. As I knew I wasn't pregnant it was a relief to get it so I can try again this cycle although of course not holding much hope it will work. Hopefully lucky last attempt will work but if not IVF here we come and praying as hard as anything that works within a few attempts FX

Kaybee I couldn't agree more. If we were all lucky we would be pregnant within 6months naturally (12months at max) thats lucky and unfortunate for us what happens to the majority of people when they decide to have a baby. Yes I do agree its lucky to have success with IVF quickly but only compared to others who are going down that road also IYKWIM. If you were lucky you wouldn't even be seeing the FS IYKWIM! Arrrr

Just a quickie from me, but please know that i am thinking of you all and praying we all just "get a bloomen break!" soon.

Just back from first scan this morning and results pretty much same as usual,only about 3 maybe 4 follicles if we are lucky. I was secretly hoping that by some freak fluke i would get a few more and have a good haul this time but, alas no chance!! Anyway, trying to stay positive, but sometimes i feel that the odds are just stacked against us...sperm issues, immune issues, miscarriage issues, low egg numbers, egg quality issues.....maybe the universe is telling us something?
Anyway, sorry to be a misery guts :rolleyes:

Good Morning to you all,
I have decided to jump in after a couple of years lurking.
To give you a bit of back groundmy journey is as follows.
DH and I have been TTC since April 2005. It has been a long and arduous journey since. We figured after a couple of years that there might be something wrong as nothing was happening. At first we put it down to timing as DH works away and even allowing for that after 2 years and still nothing we thought we had better get checked out.
1st FS had me in for a Lap immediatly without even looking at anything else. Strange seeing as I have conceived incredibly easily (read surprise baby) with DS at age 20. He obviously didn't find anything wrong. Sent DH for SA. Again nothing wrong there. Infact a normal woman would fall prego walking under his indies. So we tried again for a little while longer.

2nd FS did a heap of bloods and check the flow of my tubes. Again everything normal. Again we try.

Incredibly frustrated by now it was time to seek further help. Jan 2009 we found FS #3. We had Two AI both with BFN. It seems that DH little swimmers have an aversion to the cold and we lost 98% on thawing There for frozen was only suitable for IVF as my DH never seems to be home at O time.

By this point our relationship was very strained to the point that it nearly ended us. I think by this point we had almost given up hope as well and then DH had his midlife crisis and decided that children were not included. It almost was the end of me.
We decided to to take some time and maybe not even go back to as our relationship needed saving before a child could be involved. We did a heap of traveling for a year (spent the better part of 4 mths overseas over the year) and tried to find each other again.

Which brings us to now. We decided before we headed off on our last trip that when we got back (after 2 months away) we felt we could try again and made the appointment with the FS in anticipation of our return. The meeting went well and the FS has decided that in view of DH frozen swimmers we are going to start on a ICSI cycle starting next Wednesday.
While this has been brewing away a job that I have been angling for has just started to come together after 3 years. Fantastic you might think but no. It intails me to be working away in the pilbara region. No IVF available on a mine site. So know I have a delemma. Do I see if I can hold them off for little while of put off my treatment. I am not getting any younger (37) so I am really confused ATM.
I know in my heart what is most important. I have even consulted phsycics. LOL Gee I hope she was wrong.

Any way I am sorry for the novel but it does feel good to get it off my chest. I will do my best not to take so much room up next time.

Wantaminime - Welcome. You've really been through the mill with TTC. Why does everything seem to come together at once?? Maybe there's a way to get the best of both and you could discuss it with your FS. It's hard to put career on hold when aiming for something that seems unobtainable at times. I'm sure you and DH will arrive at the right decision together.

Yogi - sorry your scan didn't go as well as you might have liked. I know everyone says it and it doesn't always make us feel better, but it only takes one. I hope it is one of your follies that you are currently nurturing.

Mildez- Thanks for you thoughts. Wish it had have been a BFP for you! I know the feeling of counting days. I was there not so long ago. Since I started my cycle the days have gone so quickly and now I"m about to have EPU.

JBM - hope you enjoyed your time out from BB.

LMM - 10/13 fert rate sounds great. My clinic prefers to do 2 days transfers. I know a lot of people here seem to have 5 days but my clinic is convinced that 2 days are the way to go. So I think the 3 day plan sounds great and it's good to try something new.

Lairdoz - thanks hunnie, hope that ear infection clears up really quick.

Kaybee - lol, I was telling someone IRL that I felt like a one man battery hen farm. I don't feel too bad but i wake up at night feeling uncomfortable. I just want them out now. I would seek more test too if I was you. Given the FS has raised a test for sperm fragmentation, has he had a full analysis and wouldn't this have already been included? I've had the clotting tests and the karyotype (chromosome test). They told me the tests would be expensive and I heard it was around $500, but I'm sure I have paid more than about $150 in total for the tests. The bills came in in dribs and drabs so it was hard to keep up, but I'm sure it didn't pan out to be as much as I thought. Maybe I have more bills to come in. They took about 9 tubes of blood for the clotting test!!!!

AFM; not much happening, had acupuncture today and just waiting the nurse call tomorrow to confirm my EPU and trigger time. I'm a bit scared of the EPU in terms of potential pain. Have a good long weekend everyone.

Lisa B - At my EPU I didn't have any pain at all. I even played soccer 2 days later. Hopefully yours will go as smoothly. Good luck!

LOL that sounds really familiar! The clexane stings a bit hey? If it helps at all, I managed the 3L of water a day by breaking it into four 750ml bottles, I had to drink one by midday, then the next by 3pm, then the next by 6pm, then the next by 9pm. For someone who used to drink only about half a litre a day that was a big achievement and it gets easier. The protein is just fun - bacon and egg sarnies for breakfast, tuna for lunch, and roo steaks for dinner! :) I had a really swollen belly for days afterwards tho, so watch out for that one. It does go down eventually but takes a few days.

LisaB - your follies sound ripe and ready. Hope the couple of stragglers plump up tonight and you get a bumper collection!

True - biggest hugs for you, have a good cry, let it all out. Have a rant on here, we don't mind, we understand.

Good luck to everyone having collections, transfers and BTs in the next couple of days. I'm just hanging out for someone to get a BFP! :goodluck:

AFM, well i'm having a month off, and I thought I was doing OK, but I had a chat with my manager at work yesterday (who knows) and he said that a couple of people have started to notice my performance isn't what it used to be. I said I had a feeling that would be the case as I have been feeling like I have lost my mojo after the BFN. I thought I'd go back to normal in my month off, but I am just not myself. I've only just noticed that everything seems so pointless, and I burst into tears really easily, so I think I may be suffering from mild depression. I mentioned it to my BFF and she said she suspected the same thing (she's somewhat of an expert having suffered from it for many years). So I've booked an appt with the counsellor at the clinic for Tuesday, and will see if she can help. It's just crept up on me and I've only just realised. So I went shopping today in the sales for some new work clothes (cleared it with DH beforehand!). Nothing better than than a bit of good old retail therapy to soothe the soul! I had so much fun, and nearly needed a sherpa and a donkey to carry all my bags :) Plus I reckon if I look the part at work then I may start to feel the part too. Perception is everything!

Thanks for the welcome ladies. I honestly didn't think I needed an outlet for my feelings but letting a little of it out here helped a bit.

Inshelligent - I understand depression really well. I suffered serverly after a major motor bike accident years ago. I felt that life wasn't worth living in so much pain all the time. I had to be treated for about 5 years. You just need to be good to yourself and remind yourself you are worth it and so is life. And yes shopping realy does help. lol

Everyone else have a great long weekend. As with inshelligent I got mine last weekend.

AFM - Am going to spend the weekend doing house work and shopping. Anything to pass the time waiting for Wednesday.

Inshelligent sounds lovely the new work outfits. I think it could help you feel the part also and maybe put a little zing back into work.

Inshel - :hug: Sorry you are feeling so down. This TTC road we are on is not fair and I think your feelings are probably a normal response to an abnormal event! I hope the counsellor can help you out. Retail therapy sounds perfect and hopefully it will help you feel fresh for work. A psychologist at work believes in the 'faking it until you make it' concept. His belief is that you begin by acting how you want to feel and the rest follows on.

Minime - hopefully my EPU will be as smooth as yours. :crossfingers: for your BT.

AFM: was out in the Yarra Valley at a cheese place..yum! The nurse called and I am triggering tonight at 9.20pm and EPU is Monday. It's kind of weird that the trigger is so time specific, it's not even rounded off to the nearest 15 mins.
