Yeah, you have to have a glucose & blood test to confirm the insulin resistant part. Pretty much like the GD test in pg.
Thanks for the luck, I am fine with going to hospital under anesthetic -I've had a few operations so not too fussed about it, just nervous that we won't have a good EPU & result.
16th does seem so far away! I wish once you were pg there was a big light on your body that told you! lol

Haven't posted in here for a while as I have been hanging out in the long term ivf thread. I finally ovulated today (it has been painful too :( ) So, if my embie thaws okay, my transfer will be Wednesday. DP probably won't be able to make it which sucks but, then again, he hasn't brought me luck the other times ;)
Rhi, do you know when your pickup is?? Is your clinic doing a two or five day transfer??

EPU for me will be either Thurs, Fri or Saturday but should be confirmed tomorrow. We are doing a five day t'fer, which I am a little nervous about b/c I have heard that 2 day t'fer is better???? Nurse disagreed with me..... I have been getting twingy O like pains in my ovaries but I should be Oing b/c I am using Oralugan (sp?) so is should stop O I thought, so not sure what is going on there.

Well we are one step closer with getting the referral to our FS from the GP. Got to get our Police Checks off this week as we are in VIC. This may be what holds us up, hope not, really can't believe that we have to get them done, but that is the way it is. FS appointment is next Tuesday and having some blood tests done on Monday.

Sure you don't want to hear this but starting next year might not be such a bad thing. If you are not sucessful on your first go (and you do a cycle this year) you will end up paying the medicare threshhold twice. It could save you a couple of thousand dollars...something to think about...
About that... we have hit our threshold this year already, does that mean it's cheaper for us to do IVF in December than it will be in January? Because if that is the case I want to do a big EPU this year and only FET's next year.:
It's a good point N2L. I'm pretty relaxed about it at the moment, although I know that will probably change once I actually get back on the cycling wagon again!

Well, they have cancelled my cycle - my hormone levels are not increasing, they are decreasing so I have to go back to the professor for him to review my treatment plan. Fark! So, I feel like my body has again failed me.... They won't do back to back cycles, so we will be put off until the New Year now. So, I wil bow out of this thread, apart from stalking and looks like I am back to ttc naturally. Sort of works out well I guess since I have my sisters wedding in January.....

I know it won't be much comfort but a lot of us have been there. I had to have a D&C on my first cycle. Saffy, I think had hers cancelled. The first cycle should be free IMO as they really are just experimenting with doses, etc.
Feel free to drop in from time to time. You are one of us now...we won't let you go without a fight or a BFP :)
Take care and make sure you have a good cry and rant. It will help. Trust me.

Does anyone have a preference for down reg v's antagonist cycles? Our FS usually does down reg but we don't have time to squeeze it in before the Christmas closure. Antag we can obviously fit in. But I have a very heavy work schedule in Jan/Feb that I can't get out of, and simply can't do an EPU because I won't have anyone to take over my classes... so if the FS says it must be a down reg we have to wait til March :doh:. Waiting for the nurse to call me back.
I have only done antagonist Maruschke.
I prefer antagonist, its quicker too
Rhi- I did have my first cycle cancelled, you can come back from it but its very sucky at the time, and sooo frustrating. Sorry to hear, ihope your next one goes perfectly xx
Just got the phone call from the nurse, we are going ahead with an antagonistic cycle, injections start Monday O.o. I'm really excited / nervous. We also got approved to fertilise 2 eggs at a time and put both back in if they both take, for our own personal religious convictions. Yippeeeeeeee. Off to see the nurse now to collect drugs. I actually don't know whether to smile or cry O.o.
Thanks to everyone for their support, it has beena tough few days but am trying look on the positive side of things at the moment. Have borrowed some books from the library in relation to preparing for IVF & I think that can be my focus whilst waiting to start again in the New Year. Have an appt with the F/S later in the month and we'll go from there. I know that I am not alone with my cycle being cancelled, I guess I was trying to live in the moment and trying not to let fear or negative thoughts get the better of me. I hope that next time the outcome will be positive.
Maruschke - Am very excited for you & I hope all goes well with the antagonistic cycle for you.

Can I ask how everyone's DH's cope? Mine has withdrawn, doesn't want to talk about it.
My DH doesn't really talk about it much, but it may be because he's less invested in it than I. He comforts me etc, but has he already has a daughter (aged 9) if he doesn't have any more children he's okay with it. For me, this whole thing means such a different thing than it does to him. He's not very talkative anyway, but he pretty much doesn't say or do much either... wouldn't call him withdrawn - he asks me how I'm going sometimes....
just having the question asked has made me think that really - I have no idea how he's coping.... hmmm... maybe I should ask....
Maruschke - you have left me with some homework for the evening....
I'm assuming you've asked him, or else you wouldn't have brought the question up... but I'm wondering maybe you'd get something from him if you asked soemthing like "honey, you seem really distant at the moment...." and just wait to see if he gives you anything... rather than asking a question, it's an open ended statement - he may respond differently... :-)

I know that say that it's not over until the blood test... but seriously - when you're bleeding and cramping as heavily as I am tonight, there can be no doubt that it's a BFN. :-(
so DH has left for his two week trip to Japan tonight and when I'm at the airport dropping him off it becomes abundantly clear that AF is here to stay. AF is not usually really heavy for me and certainly not the first day! Has anyone else found it's heavier than usual after IVF?
I think I'm okay about it, and of course there is still hope - but looks like I'm out this month.
I knew it was wishful thinking for 1st cycle to work....

Oh Myturn I really hope it is not AF. In my stim cycle that was a BFN I never even got a period afterwards so I don't have any advice I'm afraid. Sending you lots of sticky vibes your way. When is your blood test Hun?

Myturn, I am so, so sorry :( It hurts like nothing else and there is nothing anyone can say to take away the pain and disappointment. My advice is chocolate, ice-cream (or other vice of choice) and a mindless film. Cry as much as you need to and don't answer the phone to anyone you don't want to talk to x
In answer to your question, your period will likely be much heavier and painful due to the progesterone :( just to add more salt to the wound :(

- part of me wants to sook and text all the people that know what's happening (which is a total sum of five) and the other part wants nothing to do with anyone. Had my binge already - makes me feel better and worse all at the same time. lol @ comfort eating.... of course... there will be a new plan tomorrow --- seriously if I could just lose another 10kg I'm sure that would be a good start.

I read somewhere that you shouldn't use tampon's in early preg - I wasn't planning to use them at night - cause of course I need to keep using the crinone, but I was wondering whether I can use them during the day?
so assuming it is a BFN - next opportunity for a cycle is december - which would put the EPU & ET over x'mas.... anyone know if MIVF be open then?

Awww Myturn, big hugs to you, hun. There is nothing anyone can say to make you feel any better :( but do what you have to do to get through the next few days. Noone and nothing else is as important as yourself and DH atm so take care and do what's right for you

I just did my first gonal F injection... 150 iu... so we are off and running.
Had a big chat to the FS about our embryo situation, and I think we are going to have to relax and be happy with whatever God/the universe/mother nature decides to give us, give up control a little (as if we ever had it?) and try to fertilise everything.
Still OK to t/f 2 which is good. BT thursday, scan monday, pick up likely monday in 2 weeks. Whoop :)

Blood test moved forward to tomorrow morning - as the nurse said "just to check there's nothing untoward".... seemed a weird thing to say - what does she mean by that?
I'm gunna get back on track and try to get another cycle in in december - Now that I know more about what's going on, I feel more like I can ask the right questions this time. Assuming AF arrives on time next month I'll be going for an approximate start date of 12th dec.... a birthday present for me - officially over the hill on 10th Dec... when I finally turn 35....

Myturn- sorry about AF coming when she is very unwanted- the nurse was probably meaning they need to check theres no evidence of an ectopic, cos you can still bleed with those. Glad you are looking to the future. I thought I was going ot be a mum at 37 and thought that was old, now I'll be lucky if I"m one at 40!!!! Scary...

hi everyone else, I'll be in the tww on thursday, I'm having my transfer then- yay!!
Well I had a crap morning. I accidently dialled up too much in the gonal F pen, and couldn't figure out how to turn it back. So I tried pressing the button and fluid came out? I managed to get it back to zero that way, then dialled it back up to 150 and injected, but I have no idea if I actually injected anything at all.
Did the counter go back to zero after you injected?? I am sure it will be fine x

Yes it went back to zero. Do you think I lost 225 iu and injected 150? I presume it won't matter too much.
