Welcome LadyLuck,
I go back for another scan tomorrow and hopefully the insemination, I am getting quite excited. However I haven't had a surge yet, but they did say that I might never get one because of my PCOS. so not sure what will happen there.
Welcome LadyLuck,

Hi all, as the title says, I am new to the whole IUI process and from reading a few of the posts on here thought it was a good thread to join.
Just a little bit about my journey so far. I was diagnosed quite a few years ago with PCOS, so DH and I knew that TTC wasn't going to be easy. DH has been checked out and has no issues with his little fellas, but me on the other hand is another kettle of fish. Since going off the pill over 12 months ago I only got AF twice by myself and since seeing our FS in Feb only get them after taking provera. We have already done 3 cycles with clomid #1 50mg, #2 100mg, #3 150mg, but no luck and didn't even ovulate. So this cycle we are going to do IUI but naturally (if that makes sense).
This cycle so far, I am still waiting for AF to show herself (hopefully in the next couple of days as so over waiting), then on CD2-6 I take clomid 50mg, then on CD7 or 8 go in to see the FS to have an ultrasound and start the FSH injections. I am guessing that it depends on how long it takes for the follies to be ready to how many days I have to do the injections for. I continue to go in for B/T's and U/S to check on my progress. When the follies are 18mm (and no more than 3 or they will cancel the cycle) I have to have a trigger shot of HCG. As DH has no issues, our FS is getting us to go home and DTD (sorry TMI) that night or next morning. After that it is a TWW to see it has worked or not,it does.
Anyway, sorry for babbling on a bit, but was just wondering how you guys have found the whole process. I have been having some wierd dreams about the whole process which is making me stress out a little.

Welcome Epayne,
Well so far my experience with IUI has not been too bad. I had Femara for 5 days then went in for a scan on day 10, then today (day 13) I went back for another scan. My follie was a whopping 21mm which is great. They gave me a trigger shot then we went back this afternoon for the insemination.
The only bad news is that DH's sperm was down to 3 million after all the washing. They did it anyway because as they say "it only takes 1" but have said that if this is not successful my dr will recommend IVF. We always new IVF was a possibility so not surprised, I am just not looking forward to those drugs.
How is everyone else doing?

Hello Epayne, Just wanted to say good luck, and dont stress out. I had the dreams and the fear of the unknown, and all of the what ifs and maybies..The whole process is very easy and iam sure your IVF team will look after you..The injections get easier each time u do one, i am on day 6 and have 7 days of injections and then off for my scan. Just keep yourself busy..Goodluck![]()
Thanks LandyLuck and Nellym, I guess I'm just antious cause I am still waiting for AF to show so I can start the whole process. Hopefully she starts in the next day or two.
Goodluck Nellym with your TWW, my fingers are crossed for you to have a BFP and you won't have to worry about doing IVF.
Hi girls, it's been a couple of weeks since my last post. I finally got AF and had my visit with FS today. We've decided to skip the IUI and go straight to IVF. Initially I was disappointed because we really wanted to avoid IVF if possible. The FS has said due to my age and the extent of my endo that was removed I would have a much higher chance with IVF. So here's hoping, wishing and praying for all of you that you have much success with IUI and that it's sooner rather than later. xoxo
Hi Ladies,
Just updating you, I went and had the 21 day blood test yesterday to check and see if I ovulated and sure enough my results were great so that is a good sign. Now just have to wait it out until Thursday next week to see if this IUI process was successful.
The hardest part is, that while I know it is unlikely I find myself analysing every little twinge and niggle that my body feels. Over the weekend I felt slightly crampy on my right side (kind of like mild AF pains) and thought to myself "oooh I wonder if this is implantation pain?" but then I had to remind myself that it was unlikely. Then this afternoon (around 5.30pm) I felt a bit seedy for about 30min and thought "oooh I wonder if this is morning sickness?". Again, trying not to get my hopes up I convinced myself that it is unlikely so I don't get my hopes up.
I just have to last until Thursday next week...
I hope you are all doing well, keep us posted. I know I love too read about other people's stories.
Bluebird, big hugs to you hun, no-one wants to think about having to go through IVF, best of luck with it all,
Nellym, that is exciting that you o'd, now just the painful wait until next week, hopefully it goes quick for you.
Well, I'm on day 2 of my injections. DH has been good both times being very gentle doing them for me. I am having 37.5iu daily until I go and see the FS again next Tues for an U/S and see if that dosage is enough. FX'd that is is...
nellym - So sorry to about your BFN. I know how upsetting it is *big hugs*. I know if I was in your shoes Id be finding an excuse from the baby shower and curling up with a good movie, chocolate and wine
AFM - Today we had our first IUI and bad news...DH sperm count only 0.2million and Didnt find out the motility. So very sad/depressed and have been on the brink of tears since. Trying not to be down in front of DH as I dont want to make him feel bad about it. We did know DH sperm were abit off as he has had varicoeales and had 2 ops on them and we have had good and bad results in previous sperm tests. So Im thinking this month is out :*( I looked at a website and it said I have 0.5% chance of conceiving. Top things off Ive got really bad ovulation cramps and I just keep thinking that its all for nothing..
Sorry for the negative post.
Anyhow FS said we will give IUI one more go and then its on to IVF....
oh nellym - im so sorry to hear of the bfnreally feeling for you... thanks for the feedback re DH sperm... Its amazing that so many can still miss that egg!!! I hope AF arrives on time for you and doesnt drag this out so you can move on to a new fresh cycle. good luck with it love xx oh and PS - no way i would be going to the baby shower... i have used every excuse under the sun! Im sure they know that I just dont wanna go and im past the point of caring to be honest! do whats best for you - its ok to be a little selfish some times!
albi - oh love, sorry to hear you didnt get the result you were hoping for... did they still do the iui with that result or do you mean your trying naturally this cycle? would you consider ivf if his count is that low? better odds for you?!
AFM - all good here... im 6dpIUI today... got really sore boobs but im also on progesterone so thats probably making them huge and sore! But praying its a little embie snugging in! Time will tell i guess!!! xx
Thanks for the welcome Guys
Nellym - Best of luck with your blood test. I hope all those symptoms are the real deal.
epayne - Sorry to hear more injections. Hope that follicle gets nice and big!! Best of luck for this month![]()
Nellym how did you BT go, oh I can't wait to find out, I so need to here good news, even if it isn't my own.
Albi goodluck tmw with the insemination, hope all goes smooth sailing.
Well I just want the week to be over, more crappy news, the 1 follie has only grown 2mm, so more bloody injections for me and I have the trigger shot on monday. Why can't my body just do what it is supposed to and make something in my life easy. AAAAAHHHH (sorry for the rant) I'm just over it all not working. Hoping for a better week next week.
Hi ladies -
nellyM - how did your BT go lovey??
epayne - sorry to hear your body isn't co-operating... its so frustrating huh! so are you having IUI on Wednesday?
AFM - Well my 1st IUI experience has been very good so far. I was lucky enough to respond very well to the Puregon injections and was only on 50units! By CD8 I had 3 x 13mm lead follies and lots of little ones... by CD11, one of the leading follies dropped right off and had 1 x 17mm and 1 x 13mm... I triggered on CD13 and had my IUI last Monday (CD15) so im now in the 2WW... Doc was happy with DH sperm, he put 10million in me with 99% motility! I think that when i had the IUI the follies would have been 24mm and 19mm so hoping that we caught one! Fingers crossed... going to be a long wait!
Hope everyone else is OK, we need some BFP's in here!!!! xx
T-Hopes, GL waiting for the next week, hopefully time will fly for you and you get postive news. I'm not actually doing the full IUI process. As DH's sperm is perfect we do everything but the insemination. When I have the trigger shot I have a 48hr window to DTD and hopefully catch the egg (sorry for TMI). We spoke to our FS this morning and we are going to give this way 1 more cycle if this one doesn't work and then go the full IUI process. Hope this makes sense.
ah huh! Yes it does make sense! Good luck with it all! Hoping to hear of some BFP's in here soon! This is our 1st IUI but we are going to do IVF next cycle.
LOve to everyone xx
Hi Ladies,
Well no good news, it was BFN.
I actually had a very teary day. I POAS in the morning before the BT just to prepare myself, then when she actually stuck the needle in I started crying. I think the lady thought I was being a sook. But it was more the realisation that I was sick of being used as a human pin cushin when I know the outcome isn't good already. Then in the afternoon I rang DH to get me some pain killers on the way home from work and the lady that answered the phone (she knows what is happening) asked if I had any good news, I just started crying again. That is the worst part about getting the bad news at the exact time that AF is due, it is emotional enough without having the added AF hormones to add to it.
Then to top it off, today I got an invite to a friends Baby Shower..... I know I have to go, but I really do not want to be around pregnant people at the moment. In fact, I go out of my way to avoid them.
I go and pick up my next round of drugs tomorrow, ready for round 3.
T-Hope, 10mil is great. My first round DH only got 3mil good ones and they told us it would be IVF next. Since we didn't have the money for that we decided to try IUI again and this round there was 15mil good ones. It was such a dramatic jump, we were racking our brains trying to work out what had happend in the previous 4 months for the 1st round to be so low. We remembered that DH was going through alot of stressful changes at work.
Epayne, I hope you are trying to relax through your 2ww. I know had to hide the computer because I was just obsessing over every little twinge. I think I set myself up for the disappointment.
Albi, how did you go with your first IUI?
Anyway ladies, good luck and keep us all posted.
Big congratulation T-Hopes!!! I think that will all give us hope. Have a lovely pregnancy and baby!!
Epayne sorry to hear AF showed! Goodluck with October
NellyM I hope your IUI works!! Fantastic count with DH swimmer! Fingers crossed for you!
AFM AF showed up yesterday so here's to round 2! Started clomid today. Positive is that this last cycle I had no spotting which is a first! I think the lap and clean out did the trick! Now here's hoping for DH to have a better count this month. Have religiously been pumping the menevit into himkeep you all posted!
