Pumpgirl - IUI is a great way to introduce you to ART and is less invasive than IVF. You still have to have some follicle stimulating drugs weather it be clomid or letrozole. They like to make 3 follicles anything over that and they will cancel the cycle unlike IVF where they like lots of follies. You have lots of BT and U/S to track progress of your follies and tell you when to trigger in prep for insemination.

I think the % rates of success for IUI is about 15% success where as IVF is 40%. But I think the % for multiples is higher with IUI.

Big factor for IUI is $$$ much more cost effective that $6700 for IVF + medications etc....
If there is no issue with your DH then the FS will probably suggest IUI prior to IVF anyway. Like Porsche said much cheaper than IVF. I think for my 'superovulation' it is btw $600 - $800 through monashbabies. My FS gave us a 1 in 400 chance of falling pg 'naturally' and a 1 in 5 chance with 'superovulation' but also the same odds with IVF - odd.... I will have to ask more questions next time!!! Better write them down. 6 months is long enough on Clomid I reckon anyway..... ( I did 6 mths) Have you had a laparoscopy? (sorry if you have told me this before, I can't remember)

    Hi Everyone

Porsche - Nice to see you in here, How is everything going?

Rhi - Glad DD is feeling better and that you and DH managed to avoid getting it. Superovulation sounds exciting. Hope it all goes well for you and you will have to keep us all posted so we know what it is. I hope you don't have to have a police check cause if they are anything like ours they take weeks to clear. Seems like a strange request anyway, unless they are going to start making people get a license to have a baby, lol (altjough not a bad idea in some cases).

Hope - I understand the whole post disappearing, happens quite regularly to me so now I copy my post into word in case it disappears. Looking forward to hearing how your appointment went today.

Miss Kris - DH hasn't been on the end of one of my moods yet, and thinks it is hilarious that I am having mood swings (probably cause they haven't affected him yet). Hopefully no side effects is a good sign and you will be reporting a BFP in the next couple of weeks.

Pumpgirl - Like Miss Kris hopefully no side effects is a good sign. Glad your new business is keeping you busy. What do you specialise in?

Bec - I think keeping a record is a great idea. I am sympathising with yours and hope's pimple outbreak. After a pretty good lead in to AF on that front last time I have broken out big time in the last few days, not very happy about it either. Just another thing I am adding to my list of side effects.

Lisi-Lou - How is everything going with you?

Hi to anyone else I have missed.

AFM- I am now on cd14 (for Bec's record) and have no O symptoms. That is another question I have, Does clomid shorten your cycles or do they stay the same as before? Mild abdo pain but nothing like period pain, although my period pain usually feels like someone is stabbing me and trying to pull my insides out (sorry TMI) so I am sort of hoping that I don't get that type of pain. As for the mood swings they are still hanging in there (I now keep my coffee cup in my office). Will be interesting to see whether DH witnesses my mood swings over the weekend, we are playing golf together on Sunday so he better behave himself or I might swing in the wrong direction.
Only 30mins of work left this week, yay!!!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
    Shan
Hey Shan, my cycles shortened on CLomid to around 28/29 days whereas in the past it was up to 44 days I think from memory. Have fun playing golf - good way to whack out some frustration

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all well. I think of you all often

Shan, my cycles went from non existant to 35-37 days so I can't really say whether the cycle has gotten shorter or not.

ShanShan - I've never really taken much notice of my "natural cycle" but since being on the clomid my cycles have been around 35 days give or take. Except this cycle I'm now up to CD57 22DPO and really peeved off as I'm waiting for stupid AF to arrive so I can start injections. And before we get excited no I'm not UTD even though that would be great.

Thanks very much everyone for your info on IUI... Not sure if we will be able to go down this path with DH morph issues. I guess I will have to discuss it with the FS next month - probably getting ahead of myself.

Shan - Can't be sure as my cycles were never regular, but last month (my first clomid cycle) I think I o'd on CD13 and had a 31day cycle. No idea what will happen this month as didn't get o symptoms and have no cramping at the end of the month like I did last month. RE: my business, I am setting up a fine food store :-) I will continue to instruct part time.

Question - having bad luck this month, gastro virus last week and now I have three cold sores - any ideas on how to treat them safely? Also, I forgot to go and get my BT yesterday (21 prog test), do you think it will matter if I get it on Monday - that will mean I am CD 23... Opps !!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Pumpgirl: not sure about when to get test, maybe just tell BT place it's CD23 instead of 21 and then FS can make a judgement? You could always rinf FS tomorrow to check.
Kris- Have you tested yet?! I just noticed 12 DPO, nearly at testing time!! GL & FX for you
Liz- Where are you? Everything ok? Haven't heard from you in a while
Porsche- Darn AF! It never does what we want it to do? DO you know if you def Ovulated? My AF doesn't arrive if I don't o (which happened last month). Hopefully it's arrived today and you can begin the next part of your journey!
Rhi- Thanks for the info on IUI. I'm glad you're getting started on a new path. FX that it will work first go!
Hi to everyone else out there! Haven't heard from a few of you in a little while. Lisi_lou how are you going? Claudette? lots of people I've missed, I know.

AFM: I have absolutely NO SIGNS AT ALL! Guess I'm out for this month, I usually have something by now if I'm UTD. Will get a BT on Thursday to make sure, becasue I need to take the blood thinning stuff if I am. My freinds are going through another round of 'I'm pregnant' and I am so incredibly jealous I can hardly stand it! To make matters worse, I spent an afternoon with my husbands best friends wife, who is 37 weeks pregnant and doesn't even want a baby! She was so negative I almost throttled her! It's just not fair sometimes!!!!! Anyway vent over, sorry I sound like such a cow today, I'm just over it all, I think.
    Hope yoiu are all well,

If your DH has morph issues then you most likely will do either ISCI or IVF. The FS would determine which is the best way to go forward based on your results. I would just take the BT at CD 23 & tell the FS you missed it on the 21. - That is just me though... GL

Where abouts do you live and where are you opening your foodstore - sorry love little places like this

In relation to your cold sore q: I don't think there is anything over the counter that you can take that would be safe. Maybe a health food shop would have a suggestion that would be safe?

Hey Bec, so sorry that the ttc is getting you down - I know what you mean, all of us do. Jealously is certainly normal. I can't help but stare at anyone who is pg - in particular their pg belly and wish it were me. It's so not fair but I truly believe it will happen for us all, for some reason it is taking us longer - and that will one day be an AH-HA! moment. Might be when they are 21 but it will come! Have you POAS at all or just not bothered - just wondering if you O late and the implantation may have just taken place hence the lack of pg signs? Take care of yourself & don't forget we are all here for you, anytime.

    Thinking of you all

Bec, I'm CD25, I think I have o'd but not sure as I haven't yet on clomid. I know what you mean about having people round you that don't want to be pg and are. My brother got his GF UTD and they are constantly fighting and breaking up AARRRRGGG. Big hugs coming your way and I know we are going to be mumies soon.

Pumpgirl not too sure about the tests, my FS hasn't had me have them, just said that if I'm not UTD then on to the next cycle. Even if you just ring your FS on mon and see what they say. SOrry not any help on that one.

Shan, when I was on the pill my cycle was 28 days, but as soon as I went off they just disappered. As I haven't obviously o'd on clomid yet, I have to take provera to bring on AF so my cycle from day 1 of AF till I get them again is about 48 days. Everyone is different though and it all depends on how you body is at that point in time, by the sounds of previous posts on here nothing is ever the same for eveyone.

AFM I have been a little emotional this week and was very close in doing my top at work on fri, but I could feel myself loosing it and walked away from the situation. I'm CD25 and due to go to the FS on thurs, so will do a POAS test in the morning before we go. DH has actually taken the day off with me so we can do our tax and then spend time together. I am actually feeling quite positive about this months cycle and are having everything crossed for a BFP, just hope that it is for nothing as it would be a great b'day pressie. Well only a short one for me, gotta go and get ready for a dinner with the family.

Sending lots of babydust and FX'd for BFP's

    Hey Ladies,

Just a quick one from me to try and help answer some questions.

Pumpgirl, when I had O BT's my DR told me I could get it done between CD21 & CD24 so as far as I know Monday will be fine, I used to forget sometimes too, hope that helps hun!

Sorry I cant remember who said they have coldsores but my Mum gets them and she takes Lyseen (sp?) from the health shop, I would double check but almost possitive this would be safe, GL.

Also cant remember who this was for but someone said they weren't looking forward to upping their dose of Clomid. Both my sister and I have coped much much better on high doeses of Clomid rather than lower one's. Less side effects, way less mood swings and just generally feeling heaps better, I hope this is the case for you if you need to increase it.

Bec, sorry to hear your not feeling the best hun, it trully is a horrible road, please stick with it though, I know you're time is just around the corner.

Sorry I'm not writing to everyone but I have read all your posts and have everything crossed for each and every one of you. Baby dust to all and I'll check in again soon.

    Xxoo

    Hey Everyone,

Keli - Thx for the info on BT (glad I am not the only person who forgets, clearly not focused enough on things this month) and also for your info on Lyseen, DH was telling me about that today actually, I have a few symptoms that look like I might be deficient. I hate cold sores and it really sux that I can't use cream grrrr!!

Jules - I live in Sydney and our food store will specialise in selling unique and artisan Australian products (no imports). All high end products, am such a foodie so am really excited!! It's been 6 months in the making and am just waiting on the finalisation of a site... Really hope it doesn't fall through (as that has already happened to us and was so disappointed). Am probably crazy in embarking on this business whilst TTC, but I just can't put my life on hold (it may never even happen).

Liz - Sorry to hear you have had an emotional week. Am glad your DH is taking the day off to go to the appointment this week, will be nice to have him there. I am so glad you are feeling positive this month - hopefully that is a good sign and FX you get a BFP this month :-)

Bec - I am with you, I have no signs at all either so I think I am out too :-( It's hard when everyone is announcing their happy news and it is a totally natural emotion to be disappointed for yourself and a little envious! Don't be too hard on yourself hun, your time will come again and all of this will be history - although I know that doesn't help for the here and now! Take care of you xx Also, thanks very much for doing the cycle list (it's been really helpful) - I hope there are a few BFP's coming through soon!!

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend!

AFM - CD22, no side effects, no symptoms - thank god I didn't get my hopes up this month as it certainly aint looking like I will be getting a BFP this month.

Rhi- I haven't POAS yet, thought I'd wait till later in the week. I bought a different brand and they are 5-7days before AF is I'll probably wait untill Wed. I have actually been feeling a bit naeseous today so who knows? Might be the heap of sugar I had on my porriage this morning! Gluten Free Porriage taste like the water left over when you boil rice, so you have to add something!
Liz- Hopefully the FS can give you more info on Thursday. It's nice that DH is going with you, I think it helpes to have someone else to remember what the dr says! GL
Keli- Thanks for the info. Hope you're well and all is going swimmingly.
Pumpgirl- how long are your cycles normally? It might be too early for symptoms. It's a bugger though isn't it? It's be nice to know one way or other!
Thanks for all you works of support again guys. I feel like I am the only one who whinges! You ladies are so strong and brave, I think you're all just great people. to you from the bottom of my heart.
    Have a great week!

Hey Bec, I put a little bit of Maple Syrup on my porridge for flavour as it is Low GI, unlike sugar and honey, albeit a little bit more expensive... Also, have you tried Quinoa porridge - very high in protein and it is a superfood (again, pretty expensive).

Thanks pumpgirl. I haven't tried Quinoa, but I'll give it a go. The worst thing about GF is breakfast! I just can't find anything nice that's not full or sugar. Might give mapel syrup a go too. Everything GF is expensive anyway!
YOur shop sounds super interesting! I'd come and visit if you didn;t live miles away. If I'm ever in Sydney I'll look it up!

    Hi Ladies

Ahh Bec GBH to you. I know exactly how you feel. It isn't easy, it sucks and it's just not fair. With everything we have to go through we should be UTD 100 times over. I don't know how long our journey's are but what I do know is that when we do get our BFP. It will be all the more special because we know what we had to do to get there.

    Hi Girls,
Well i am actually 9DPO, friday i had my blood test for CD21 and the ***** at the IMVS clinic was so rough! lol sorry!! I asked her to be gentle and she goes, not a problem, then jams the needle in!! i was like OOOOWWWWW!! lol and just glared at her! The worst thing was i was on my own! And i HATE needles lol! But then a friend pointed out i better get used to them lol as there is plenty more when you are actually preg!! lol

So, i am tempted to test early! Last night i was getting bad cramps and today i have not pains or cramps, but just an uncomfortable feeling in my belly. Also, my boobs are heavy and hard, like they have rocks in them lol Sorry TMI!! But only my (Another TMI) nipples are sensitive, and they look funny to me lol!!!

Fingers crossed they are all good signs! I have been analysing my FF chart heaps too closely!!

Anyway, sorry for no persies, i haven't had time to read everyones posts, but i will come back soon!!

Ooooohhhhh! that sounds awesome, pity you are in Sydney otherwise I would have come for a look see! Are you going to bother with a website? If so, I'd be interested in having a look at that Totally agree with not putting your life on hold - I have put off too much for too long.....

i will wait and get my results either tomorrow or the next day, to see if i ovulated, then if i did i will preg test!! Im a little worried that i didn't actually ovulate and will just be wasting preg tests etc ... but the temptation is getting the better of me! FX i can hold out to Wednesday! lol! And DW i will be on here yelling if i am lol!

Oh i just wanted to say, and sorry if this offends anyone, but it really put a smile on my face and gave me hope! My cousin and her hubby have been trying for a baby for 5-6 years, Last Year, after enduring many miscarriages and heartache they finally got pregnant via IVF and this one stuck!! She later gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Georgia! Anyway, i got a text from her the other day saying that its a complete surprise and shock, but she is 12wks preg!! Naturally!!!! She didn't even realise until she was about 10wks and they are both in complete shock! I just think its a wonderful story of a well deserving couple finally getting what they want, and then some! And i pray that a story like this will be told about all of us soon! It really gives you hope!
I am again sorry if it offended anyone, but yes, as i said, i hope that it all happens to us! lol (the natural preg not the ivf).

Bec - No idea about my cycles as pre clomid they were 28, 31. 39, 36 etc and last month (first clomid cycle) it was 31 days, although I am sure I o'd on CD 13 and I had cramping from about 5DPO, where as this month - nada! So who knows I probably didn't even o. I hope you are feeling better today... Don't be so hard on yourself, everyone handles things differently and there really is no right or wrong way - everyone on here has their moments no doubt do things that we aren't so proud of. It happens... I find the best way I can deal with things is to take back control of other aspects of my life. For exampe whilst TTC, I have been certified as a Fitness professional and did my Les Mills Body Pump training, also setting up this business and remodelling and designing the foyer of our apartment building - these are things that I can control and as a result can get self worth / gratification from and this then counterbalances the lack of control & disapointment I have with trying to fall pg. Don't get me wrong, I still get that feeling when others tell me their pg (when's my turn - life's not fair) or when AF comes - total disappointment, but life has to keep going on for me and if I have these other things to focus on, that means less time to worry about the other stuff... But this isn't going to work for everyone and I am a total Type A personality ;-) But as I said, don't be too hard on yourself - I think your doing well!!

Keli - interesting what you were saying about the SE being easier on a higher dose... very interesting... I would have thought it would have been worse, good to know if I have to go up next month. How are you going hun, hope your PG is going well?

Jules - Yes we will be setting up a website (and doing online sales down the track) so will send it out when we get there. It is a really exciting time, although am crazy nervous this site is going to fall through and I am back to the waiting game which isn't very fun at all!! I just want to get my little shop opened - I have gorgeous visions of me and my big belly working away at the store ;-)

Miss Kris - Good idea to wait till you see the results of the BT, although easier said than done ;-) Sounds like you have a lot of positive symptoms going on - FX hun & good luck - let's hope you are screaming out good news soon!

Liz - Hope your sleeping OK and doing well otherwise!

Shan - How are you going?

Sorry if I missed anyone - hello and hope your all doing well

AFM - had my 21 day prog test today (although two days late - my bad), no symptoms and no SE to speak of
