LT TTC & taking Clomid/Metformin #5

Sorry to but in, but can anyone help? Thought AF came yesterday. I was CD 35, it started to come but was just a darkish colour which i always get and then real AF comes the next day. Today it was lighter than yesterday, hardly anything and still not proper red yet. I was counting this as CD2 and was going to start Clomid, but now I'm not sure. Should i still take the clomid? or should i just wait till tomorrow to call my GYNO?
Do you have to have a proper AF to take clomid????

Tasha, if I were you I would take the clomid as I was always told any sort of bleed can be considered AF, can you call your FS though just to be sure?

I don't think i can call they are closed now. I've been reading that really light periods on clomid mean thin lining in endometrium, meaning if you get PG it's a high risk you will miscarriage. Now I'm starting to freak out. I don't think i can call after hours.

First thing..dont freak out. If you are really unsure, dont start the clomid until after you have spoken to your fs tomorrow. One day will not make a scrap of difference. I usually take it day 4-8. The first time I took it I started day 8-12 (that was the day I got the first prescription). My FS said it didnt matter one iota.

With regards to the endometrium lining, you are correct in saying it needs to be a certain thickness to support a pregnancy, but your FS will measure the thickness when you go for a follicle scan (approx day 14). If there is a problem, there are ways to treat it so it thickens.

The clomid will change your cycle. It may lengthen it. It may shorten it. Your periods may be heavy one month, lighter the next. One thing I have learnt is the taking of clomid is not an exact science. It is guesswork to a large degree, and even your FS (who will be making educated guesses, but guesses nonetheless) may mix it up (dosage, days, etc) until it gets you ovulating. Which, remember, is all clomid does. It's an ovulation induction medication. It doesnt guarantee pregnancy. It merely helps you ovulate.

In closing, I think the best thing to do is relax. Call your FS tomorrow and follow their advice.

Thanks N2l, I was freaking out. Still am actually. My FS has not requested any scans and i don't see him till 13th December after my day21 progesterone BT. I called and the nurse spoke to him cos he was busy, but i didn't ask about having scans done.

hello everybody, haven't posted in here for a while.
I am just starting my second cylce of clomid. I hope it works! Just wanting to know, since i was a raging emotional mess last month, do the side effects settle down or get worse with each progressive round of clomid? lol.

when does the side effects come and how long do they last? i took my first tablet last night and havent felt any difference.
