Keli, I hope ur lap went well, do tell all the details as I have my lap next Thursday. Did the FS tell you how the op went on the day or do you have to go back to find out the details? I was so hoping I wouldn't have to have my lap but AF arrived yesterday so no NYE conception for us! I'm freaking out a bit as I've never had a general anaethestic, but a lady in my meditation class said to just do my deep breathing and I should be OK. I hope so!

I'm kind looking forward to having it in a weird way as hopefully it will give us some answers. I'm sick of being in limbo land and not knowing why we aren't falling pg.

    Thinking of you all x

    About my op

    Hey Ladies,

So I’m onto day 4 of recovery now and I’m doing well. Just thought I’d give you an update of my procedure and what to expect for Mez Moz.

Had surgery on Thursday, I was first cab off the rank for the day which was great. Got to the hospital at 7:30am and I was on the operating table within an hour. Woke up an hour and a half later in a fair bit of pain only to be put back to sleep with more morphine, ahhhh my friend. Spent most of the day being woken up by nurses wanting to check on my wounds then drifting off back to sleep. They wouldn’t let me go home till I peed which too a while but by 4:30pm I was safely home in my bed.

I ended up with 3 incisions, they started with 2 but needed to do the third. My results: After me being very afraid that they were going to find lots of endo, they only found 3 small areas of it all of which they have now burnt off, none of which are believed to have been causing me any fertility issues, only pain. They then did the D&C (Dilation & Curette) and whilst only my right tube took the dye they are pretty sure that both my tubes aren’t blocked as there was no scar tissue. They said that sometimes your body just favours one of your ovaries rather than the other, it’s not to say that the other one doesn’t work its just that one works more often than the other. Lastly they decided to do golf balling (ovarian drilling) which they discussed with me prior to surgery. They said that they don’t know why it works but it is so effective that I may not need to take clomid anymore which would be fabulous. The drilling works for 6 months.

Hey Mez Moz, hope this info helps you out. Sorry to head about AF but at least this way you will know what is going on now. Yeah I didn’t think that I would get any results on the day as I have got friends that have had the procedure and they didn’t get their results on the same day but both of my surgeons came and spoke to me after my operation and I also asked my Nurses what went on and they were really good about giving me all the information. I have pictures to take to my gyno too. So I am having a follow up with my gyno on Feb 5th because they took some biopsy’s and I need to get the results from them but most of the other stuff I already know which is great cos otherwise I would spend the next 3 weeks stressing rather than relaxing. Oh yeah and I was also given 10 days off rather than the week that I was recommended originally cos they did more than they planned. Just thought I’d warn you, every time I think I’m ok hubby reminds me how much I can’t yet do on me own. He has just been wonderful, bought me flowers on op day, been making me dinner every night, cleaned the house (even mopped) on the weekend. Hey and I totally know what you mean about being excited for the surgery I was totally the same at least then you will have some answers. Good luck with it and please let me know how you go.

Hope everyone else is going well.

Tammara can’t be long now till your first counselling session, I will be thinking of you.

Jess85 where have you gone again, been missing you lately hope all is well.

Will give you all another update again soon, please feel free to ask any questions, I am at home bored out of my brain and totally over TV already, ha ha.

Good luck to all, talk soon,
    Kel

    Hi keli

Thanks so much for letting me know how your lap went. I'm glad I know a little more about what to expect, so thank you for sharing. And glad to know they use strong drugs for pain relief! I was thinking I might be able to teach my yoga class 5 days later but I might find a fill in just in case I don't feel up to it. I hope you feel much better as every day passes. It will be interesting to see what happens to our cycles post lap. No clomid for 6 months sounds great! Fingers crossed this lap is what we both need to get us UTD!

    Hi Trueblue

I'm currently in my 2WW on my 6th round of Clomid. I think that everybody is different in how they respond to clomid. Some it takes first go and others quite a bit longer.I know of one who had 14 rounds. How many cycles has your FS decided you will have?

I think I've had too many. I think I should have had 3 goes and then further testing but I can't change that.

FX that this is your cycle.

    Hi ladies

Well I had my lap this morning and the actual procedure and recovery was much less traumatic than I expected. I had a mini breakdown and nearly fainted when the anethisist spoke to me about what happens with a general anesthetic (this was my first every op and stay in hospital) but I think this was because I hate needles, hadn't eaten and was feeling a bit overwhelmed that I had to have a bloody surgical procedure to get some answers about why we don't have a bubba to hold yet. But as soon as I was given the relaxant, I was out. Apparently the first time I woke up after surgery I was in quite a bit of pain so they gave me extra pethadine, but I don't recall this pain at all (thank god!). The one thing that no one told me was that my pee would be blue afterwards! I must say that all the staff at The Avenue Hospital were so lovely and kind, and my FS was too. Oh, and my DH has been wonderful as well!

So now for the results....well my FS has asked me to make an appointment for next week so we can go through the results in detail, but he did say my tubes were fine and I didn't have any endo. Phew! So I'm really hoping that the spring cleaning he did will help us get UTD. Apparently you are more fertile for a few months after the procedure.

Porsche - you'll be fine with your lap - all the best.

lots of things going on lately, glad both you ladies came out of the laps fine dont know about your procedure but when i had my drilling the dr actually gave me photos of my ovaries they were very interesting to look at.

Yesterday was the big day of counceling for all of us and everything went fine so that was great news, on jan 25th i will start taking my tabs to help thicken my lining and my donor starts her nose spray and needles and on feb 4 we both have ultrasound and if all looks good the egg retrieval will be done feb 8.

    happening so quick!

    Hey Ladies,

Oh Mez Moz that is wonderful news that your op went so well, you sound like you'll be having a quick recovery too. Yeha so sorry I forgot to tell you about the blue pee, he he! Hope the pain killers are still working for you today and that your recovery is quick and you can teach that yogo class in 4 days time.

Tammara that is awesome to hear that your counselling went well and that you are starting the process. Is it just me or has that happened so quickly? That is awesome I'm so pleased for you. How exciting, you could be UTD within 6 weeks, wow I have everything crossed for you.

Frustrated wow 17 and a half weeks that is awesome hun, thanks for your updates and your sensitivity with the subject, it's so refreshing!

Jess are you ok love, you sound a little down at the moment. I hope your job situation picks up. Good luck with round 4 of clomid, fingers crossed. YEs I am feeling much more possitive about everything now. Has your FS discussed a possible lap for you?

As for me...well I'm still off work heading back on Wednesday (my boss has decided to close for business on Monday as Tuesday is Australia day) so hopefully I'll be back to my usual self by then. My recovery has been a lot longer than I ever expected but hopefully this rest will have been just what I needed and we can get UTD very soon.

Good luck to all, I love hearing where everyone's at.

Hi ladies I have just found this thread so I thought I would join in
I am TTC#2 and been trying for 4 years now
I am on colimd and this is my second round, I have finished the tablets for this cycle and I am waiting to O now
Does anyone have PCOS as well as LTTC and on clomid?
I have long cycles and it varies so I am not sure when I will O if I O I have got OPK and will start using it tomorrow I think
I also have to take provera to entice AF to come as well so this doesn't help the situation
DH and I BD every second day is this a good idea?
I hope everyone is doing well
For u ladies that have had the OP's I hope ur feeling better now
I had a Lap and D&C last April and came back from it well but I dont remember ever having blue pee from the dye lol thats a new 1 for me lol

    Hi ladies,
I was just wondering if I could join your thread. DH and I have one child conceived on Clomid. He's 3 now and we have been TTC since july 2007. I went on clomid again in april, had a BFP first month in, and then m/c at 5 weeks. We stayed on clomid and got another BFP in November, and again m/c at 5 weeks. I have just today been for a u/s with Dr Andrew Ngu who's apparently excellent, and he diagnosed me with PCOS (which I've suspected for a while) and a polyp in my uterus. Apparently the polyp can cause problems with implantation????

I'm a bit dazed and confused at the moment and I'm waiting to hear from FS to discuss the next step. I have now taken clomid for 7 cycles (my cycles are 35 days at least) and I've read you should only take it for 6 cycles.

Has anyone had similar experiences? I'd appreciate any advice or info,

    Bec

    Welcome to the new ladies!

I'm still feeling sore and hobbling around after my lap yesterday.

Keli, did you FS say you can start BDing as soon as you are up to it? I'm wondering if we have to wait a cycle before TTC. Guess I'll find out all the details when I see FS on Thursday. Don't know about you but those damn painkillers have made me constipated so now I'm taking laxatives with my digesics!

becnxavi - soz but I haven't had PCOS so can't help you there, but I did do 2 rounds of clomid before my lap yesterday. I had very irregular cycles, but clomid worked both times and made me O around day 17 - 19, then the cycle after when I wasn't on clomid I o'd on day 19 which was a miracle for me! So i think clomid has kicked my ovaries into gear. I'm just hoping the lap doesn't make my cycles go haywire again.

got1want1more - my FS said to BD every second day leading up to O and then every day just before O'ing. I guess the more you do it the more chances you have, but I know that sometimes you just want a break!

Here's another question for you girls TTC - am I the only one jumping the gunn and researching obs and hospitals? It seems like you have to book in as soon as you get your BFP! I would love to have a home birth but DH couldn't cope with that, so I'm trying to find out obs who avoid intervention unless absolutely neccessary. Anyone have any suggestions in Melbourne?

Hey Porsche...a word of warning about your lap recovery....don't do what I just did!

Warning ladies - poo about to be mentioned:

Because the pain meds they give you after your lap can make you constipated, I took some Nulax laxatives, but 12 hours later I was still feeling constipated which doesn't feel great when your insides are a bit tender anyway. So I took some more. BIG MISTAKE! Within an hour of taking the second lot, the first lot kicked in. ARGH!!! Anyway, to cut a horrible story short, I had the worst runs I have ever experienced in my life and spent the early hours of the morning attached to the loo! So my advice is to avoid laxatives, or only take one dose every 24 hours instead of two like I did.

So now I've had a thorough spring cleaning of all my plumbing down there! lol

Two days after my lap I'm still feeling a bit tender, but don't need pain killers anymore. I bet I'd be feeling a lot better too if I hadn't given myself the runs!

    Hi All,

Hoping I can join in! Brief b/ground/ TTC # 2 for 16 months, 2 m/c whilst ttc # 2 (4 all up) prescribed clomid (just finished rd 3) - but with no monitoring... Is that normal? OBS said to come back after 6 mths ttc on clomid if no success (viable pg), but now I am thinking of just going back & demanding a referral to a FS or can I get a referral from my GP to a FS?

Sorry for the 'me' post. Just feeling gutted since AF showed up today
