    Monash IVF and natural FET

    Hello ladies,

I'm just wondering if any of you are doing or have done a natural FET with Monash IVF and if you had any support with it? I swear I had to take crinone with my FET in 2009 but I can't be 100% sure. My IVF nurse says I didn't have it in that cycle and their policy is no pg support with FETs. Is that right? I've just had a natural FET and I'm not taking anything.

we don't have any progesterone support on natural FET's at MIVF.... I'm sure it's okay - they wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the success rates - it's to their advantage to make it work for you xox

Been thinking about you all week, just never remembered to message you at an appropriate time of the day!! Hope you are feeling okay and not going too crazy....

Thanks lovely, I just hope all was well ie the lining thickness, all the other levels etc. I've read somewhere that some clinics make you come in to check your lining, measure your dominant follie to determine exactly when the FET should take place.

Hi Miss B I wasn't meant to have any support with my natural FET at MIVF, but my lining was borderline so I was on one pessarie a day. Once my pregnancy was confirmed and all levels checked they stopped my cold turkey. So I only had it for TWW and then it was only because my lining was not quite where they wanted it.

    Good luck lovely!

I must admit they did scan and find out the time I ws ovulating before they put it in, but surely they would do it in a way at would make it work??

All my FETs have been with MIVF. All natural and all with progesterone support.

Janie, thanks hun. That's the thing, they didn't check my lining. The only time they checked it was in the previous cancelled cycle the previous month, while I was taking progynova, which didn't work so the cycle got cancelled as I still produced a follicle. During that time they did both BT and the lining check. In this current FET, all I had was a BT one Thursday, then one on Friday and then they told me the day to come in for my FET.

Myturn, surely they wouldn't have put the embie in if the conditions weren't ideal?

N2L, I guess all clinics do thing differently. I'm assuming my progesterone was OK according to my 2 BT?

I think for my piece of mind, I will speak with my nurse on Monday...Thanks again ladies.

I'm with you missb. I'd be asking for progest. Support as it can't hurt! But it can hurt not to have enough of it!
I'm with Monash and I have it on even us trying natural with Clomid cy, every time. My Dr is good and if u ask and he sees no harm he will try it with you.
Good luck and ask them for more monitoring if you wish as they can do that as well!
One note my naturopath told me is that when your body is on progesterone for a while it gets lazy and does not bother producing much! ( so either u have to go off the Supps for a while and put up with low levels until it adjusts or supplement)
I have every thing crossed for u and they better bloody give u the best shot! Xxx

Thanks Sarah I'll be calling my nurse on Monday. I'm just wondering how they knew exactly when to put the embie in without checking the lining, my main follicle etc. I guess the blood work told them everything they needed to know? I also checked the Monash site and it said with a natural FET you don't need any support....I've been regular like clockwork since I got my AF at 13, so my body tends to behave itself. I only had a crazy 19 day cycle earlier this year and then a couple of cycles 2 or 3 days on either side of my 29 day cycle, apart from that just a regular 29 day cycle. They put me on prognova to switch my ovulation off last month when I mentioned that 19 day cycle, but the silly tablets didn't work and I still ovulated! So I took it as a sign that my body just wanted to do a natural cycle on its own. I've got everything crossed for you too hun, hope we all get out our BFP! x

I wasn't with Monash IVF, but at my clinic did a natural FET. I had the trigger injection and was put on progesterone support. After BFP I had to continue taking the progesterone pessaries till week 10 or so as the levels were low according to the blood test. I was on crinone with the first IVF cycle and the following fresh transfer.
I'd definitely be giving them a call!
Good luck, am keeping my fingers, knees and toes crossed for you!! And am quietly stalking!

I have scans for my FET, but the blood tests tell them when you ovulate... In fact they couldn't see anything on scan, but BT said I was about to O... So I'm sure that its okay. Not checking the lining is weird, but maybe they don't think they need to with you... Perhaps you are usually okay?? Definitely don't worry about no progesterone, your body will create that naturally if you get pregnant as it thinks you 'O'd naturally....
But call if it makes you feel better...it is weird how they all so it so differently!

I vaguely remember my first ever FET at monash( years ago now) was natural with no support and I basically spotted from transfer to AF, I rang the clinic thru my TWW and they didn't really care or offer me progesterone, I think i ended up insisting on getting my prog tested which was bordrline low. We were really angry as it was obviously a failed cycle and we felt it had no chance from the start ( not to say it would have worked but who knows). My FS wasn't interested when I questioned him on it and after a few more issues we ended up swapping clinics.

I understand that in theory you might not need it with a natural cycle but if we had natural cycles that worked we wouldnt be doing IVF!!!!!!

Good luck, its frustrating dealing with clinics etc, when you feel like just a number. We have all our hopes riding on our cycle and want everything to be done to give it the best chance, hope you get your bfp hun xx

Can I add my bit? My bfp was natural the month after our failed ivf cycle. I self medicated in the tww with left over crinone from our ivf cycle. When I got my bfp I called my fs who said that my body should make it's own if viable pregnancy etc etc. I lost it and demanded it. (it wasnt pretty) He gave me pessaries. I stayed on these til I slowly weaned off them at 13 weeks.
Sometimes I think as we get older that our bodies need some help.
    Goodluck x

Saffy, I'm thinking that maybe I have always had very regular cycles I don't need progesterone? I have had 3 fresh transfers, all with crinone (clinic policy) and one other FET apart from this one with no support whatsoever. Dunno, I might ask what my progesterone was prior to transfer, I'm sure if it was low they would have given me the pessaries.

Joeve, I honestly entertained the idea of self medicating myself with the left over box of crinone in the cupboard! Decided not to, the more I think about it the more I remember that I didn't have any support with my FET in 2009. I went through my notes and usually I write down what I am taking, but there was no mention of anything.

    Thanks for your replies ladies!

Myturn, thanks hun. I know you're right, they wouldn't put an embryo in if it wasn't ideal in there...
