Red face New to Belly Belly - TTC 2yrs

    Hi everyone,

We have just joined BB because we are beginning a new chapter TTC. We have been TTC for over 2years on Donor IUI. We will be beginning IVF on 12th July (day 21). Any advice or information on Syranel, Puregon and Crinone Gel would be greatly appreciate. We will be seeing our FS in a few weeks but until then we are a little lost as to what these drugs will do and what side affects may occur. We are feeling a little overwhelmed and nervous about the 'unkown'. We look forward to 'trading stories' and feeling comforted by the fact the we are not alone.

    Thanks,

    Mummy One (Me)
    Mummy Two (DP)

Welcome to BB Mummy One & Two!
It can be very daunting when you first start out on IVF. My DH and I did our first cycle in October last year, and start our next one this week (starting the pill tomorrow).
Some people really dislike Synarel. It's certainly doesn't leave a nice taste in the back of your throat, but personally it didn't give me too much grief. The biggest issue I had with it were headaches. As soon as I started the injections I started to feel much better. The injections are fine. My DH did mine and they don't hurt at all, I think it was just more the idea of them that stressed me out! Towards the end of injections and just before pick up, there was a bit of discomfort in my tummy but that is just due to the all the follies growing in there nicely.

The crinone gel I disliked the most. I was so emotional on it, and just felt awful. Any little thing would set me off and I think I cried about something nearly everyday I was on it! lol

I hope all goes well. It looks like we will be going through our cycle and around the same time. I will be starting Synarel in about 16 days. There is also a LTTTC general thread. Please come and join us in there. Everyone is at different stages of their cycle and will be happy to answer any questions, and offer support.

Hi Mummy One and Mummy Two - welcome to BB. As Megan said there is a general thread with lots of ladies going through different stages of cycles. There is also a 1st cycle thread that gives some general info about the synarel and injections and others experiences. I am in my first cycle (and fingers and toes and everything else crossed) will hopefully do an EPU at the end of the week and a transfer a few days later. There are so many little speed bumps along the way and it is great to have the wisdom and support of the ladies on BB - it has certainly helped me a lot over the last few weeks and I have learnt so much, so I am sure you will too! Take care and good luck with your first cycle.

    Hi Mummy One,
Gosh, your TTC journey must have been a real emotional rollercoaster. I'm so sorry about your losses.

Yes, the drugs can be fun, and we don't mind sharing our stories about how much trouble they give us.
I have pretty much the same reaction as Megan. Headaches on the pill - then more headaches on the Syneral (it tastes icky!), then no trouble with the injections (i do them myself - DH leaves at 4.30am and i'm not getting up with him!!), and then the trigger shot (also no problems). Then i feel the same on Crinone - sad, useless, tired, teary, unable to sleep. I'm a huge bundle of fun!!!
Don't stress though - none of the reactions are ever that bad, and we all just hope that we get a great result in the end.

I have a really great nurse who talked me and DH through most of the side effects etc, and i can call her all the time whenever i need to ask something. I hope you get some good advice and lots of info at your next appt.

Also there is a donor thread that you might like to join to share your experiences with. You might have found it already - otherwise click here

Wishing you all the very best. Keep in touch and ask anything and everything you like.
