    Hi Blayz,

WOW, you have done the lot! I have tried a lot of things, but I wish I could go to 4 days a week working! Lucky you!

We've been ttc for 15 cycles, on our 16th now... with no results. We have had male factor which was fixed 5 cycles ago... it's been a very frustrating road. We have met with a FS a couple of times now and from our experience, your FS will probably want to do a hy-co-sy or HSG on you to make sure your fallopian tubes are open & clear and probably another SA on your DH.

I'm sure you will feel much better after meeting with your FS. Good luck on the 22nd!!

    Hi Blayz,

Hear you loud and clear. My DH and I have been TTC now for about the same amount of time. We pretty much tried the lot as well. Accupuncture, chinese medicine, massage, diet, herbs, holidays, even a hypnotherapist. At the end of about 10 or 11 months I was so anxious and upset about the whole thing, that we just went to our local GP to start the testing procedure.

DH had some testing, but I was lumped with the harder stuff. At first I had the same blood test you mentioned. After that was an internal ultrasound. It wasn't very pleasant, but I have to say - it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. After that the scan result revealed polycystic ovaries - not the whole syndrome - but it wasn't great news. We were then referred to a specialist at an IVF clinic for yet more tests. DH had a go at round 2 for further sperm analysis. And I had to have a HyCoSy which is a test which determines whether your tubes are blocked or not. Turns out that they are. Lucky Me!! Anyway to cut a long story short, our doctor wanted to do a laparascopy, but I actually declined because I didn't really feel that it would achieve much because we already pretty much knew what we were dealing with and the surgery would only confirm the results. We start straight away on IVF, and after 1 failed attempt with nothing fertilising, we are almost halfway through the second one.

My advice is, try to stay strong, the testing can get you down - no doubt. But try to keep your chin up with the end result in mind. We are lucky in this day and age to have much more technology to try to hopefully identify the problem, and come up with what fingers crossed will be a solution. And I know that my marriage with DH is a lot stronger now given the experiences we have had to endure than it every was before.

    Stay strong and Good Luck

Thank you so much for your support and advice
It feels so good to know that I'm not alone and you are supportive of investigation and assistance. So many poeple dont get it and say "relax it'll happen!!" but we want to get started with tests and see if there is anything that needs fixing!
I have no probs with the idea of IVF infact I am happy that there is help available. I know the tests can be nasty and injecting yourself not fun but like SJJ said eye on the prize!!
Sammi Jane thanks for sharing, it really helps, we are on the same cycle! Good luck and I hope you keep me up to date on your progress.
SJJ - I tryed hypnotherapy and massage as well!!! hehehe i have tried everything but go to the FS!! Am kicking myself now i should have gone earlier but naiively thought I would fall naturally!! Anyway best luck for your 2nd round IVF, fingers are crossed.

    Welcome

    Hi Blayz
    Welcome.

It is a frustrating time, but this forum is a great place to come when you are happy, sad, frustrated (**often**) confused or just need to vent.

Whilst I have not yet achieved a pregnancy, we are still ttc. After some early hiccups with some so called "professionals" I am now happy with the people in my corner (Fertility specialist and Gyno and DH). I am listening to my gut instinct, praying that it a BFP is not to far away and enjoying the things that childless couples can enjoy! (restaurants, books, magazines, OS holidays!)

hi blayz .....so feeling what you are going through! after ttc also for 16 cycles i have just gone to the FS. I believe it is the best move and really i kick myself a bit that i should have gone earlier, but kept believing it would happen naturally. After testing, like SJJ, i too have PCO but not the syndrome. Now i know that there is a reason for our infertility, i am getting treatment and feel relieved that i understand what is going on with my body and that i can do something about it. I am on metformin. When you have tried everything under the sun, it is a very frustrating experience to do everything you can, and yet stil no BFP. Good luck with the 22nd!!!! and hope your TTC journey ends soon and with a happy ending, best of luck to you all. wrights

    Hi Blayz

DH and I were TTC for 18 months before we finally fell pregnant thanks to treatments at a fertlity clinic. I think I've just about had all the tests you can think of. Your FS will likely start with blood tests and will probably retest your DH too. The sperm tests they conduct are alot more detailed as they're done by a fertility scientist rather than in a regular pathology lab. I also had 2 laparoscopies (and tubes cleared at the same time) which found (and removed) some endometriosis but my main problem was PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) I wasnt ovulating so I was put on Chlomid to stimulate ovulation for approx 9 months. That didnt work so we went to see a FS who started ovulation induction treatment using daily injections and ultrasounds to monitor the outcome.

I wont bore you any further with the details on how it all works but I will say that the outcome for us was finally a BFP!

I'm now almost 17 weeks pregnant and proof that you should never give up hope! (which I almost did many a time)

Good luck with TTC. I'm sure you'll find all the support you need from the lovely ladies on this site.

    PCOS

    Hi Blayz

I have stopped ovulating about 4 years ago caused by an ED, I since then gained 9 kg back, yet I still do not menstruate. I was tested for PCOs but the doctor said it was negative, i had small follicles on my ovaries but was not getting stimulated. I have also had a glucose test and my blood sugar was supper low after it. I have been told that a lot of the symptoms I have are some of that of a person with PCOS. What were the reasons for the diagnonsis for PCOS, can doctors miss this on tests.

I have also herd that people who started taking the pill after getting diagnosed , the symptoms of PCOs went away, and if it was not a bad case it even went away. I hope this is true, and I really do wish everyone all the best with the fight.

    Hi Blayz,
I too am new here! we have been ttc 10 years and have tried everything under the sun too. I can honestly say that todays FS are better than ever and with all the new treatments and testing there will be so much more info for you to work with now than there was previously. I have found that myself having had a few years break from the FS and trying all the alternative stuff, I am happy to be back to the specialists! Good luck to you ...!
