    Unhappy OMG, is this right?

I had an appointment with a FS a couple of weeks ago. I had some BT done and DH had a SA. Today I got the bill in the mail $334 for me and $234 for DH! All to be paid within 14 days Not once did ANYONE mention that the tests would be that much and that we would have to pay all of it. Is this right? Does Medicare cover any of it? I am in Melbourne.

Sounds about right to me. You should get something back. Phone Medicare with the item numbers and they will tell you exactly how much.

    Infertility is fricken expensive

    Unfortunately that sounds about right...

N2L is right... Infertility is bloody expensive. It sucks that the FS didn't tell you to expect a bill

LOL, it would want to be good for that price!

I have just called them and they extended the payment date, then 10 minutes later she called me back saying she had done some investigating and most of it will be bulk billed. Phweeew! What a nice lady! I still have to pay for the IUI itself yet, should I be worried?

T - did they give you a quote for your IUI? They really should, it can vary from a few hundred to 1500. We paid 685 for our first two and got 570 back (we have hit the safety net). This cycle is combo clomid/gonal f so we have more scans etc, its 755 and we get 570 back still. HTH.

Thanks Maruschke, I will ask when I have my next appointment in a few weeks. The website with the info says it is $600 for a full IUI cycle, but I'm guessing that's not pathology.

I have never had to pay for pathology, with the exception of the AMH test (65). DH has had numerous SA and never once did we have to pay. So strange.

When she called back she did say that we were only out of pocket about $70. Big difference from the first phone call! If I had not called I would have just paid the $550, will definitely be asking before any other tests!

Our IUI cost $770 per treatment with about $70 back from Medicare.....this was all inclusive of pathology etc....
