    Out of date progesterone pessaries.....

    Hello ladies,

I found some out of date progesterone pessaries in my fridge.....They expired on 1/1/14. Are they any good? I called the IVF nurse and she said to use them, as if anything, they might have lost some of the effectiveness, but then I called the chemist and the lady there said that they also might have become toxic????? I have a script but they will take a few days to make up the script...Help! Have any of you taken out of date pessaries and it was OK?

    TIA.

I'd use them, personally. Not sure how they could go toxic????

Ok, thanks ladies. I think I can do it without the support, but after so many BFNs I feel like if I don't take some sort of support for a piece of mind, I might get another you know what (hate even writing that word). I know I am doubting my body's ability to get that little embie to stick I know my body can do it. It did almost 5 years ago with my DS, which was a FET cycle without any support, but as I'm so much older now maybe my body could use a bit of help??? I'm just scared the out of date pessaries can do some sort of unnecessary damage....

They won't do anything wrong, they just won't work as effectively. They definitely won't turn toxic, that's rubbish.

I would use them if you are worried, it can't hurt. I was on crinone until 6 weeks then a few days after I stopped I started spotting so they restarted me on them, might have been coincidence but I felt better taking it for a few more weeks. I think at our age we need all the help we can get ;-)

I definitely would take them. I took them until 14 weeks (2 weeks of weaning off them).
They won't do damage and I agree as we get older the good hormones get a bit lazier

My FS said I could use mine 6-12 months past the expiry (lol, which was April 2013, from memory, so guess I should throw out the remaining ones soon?)...
