tiggerlily - can i ask you to give us some more detail about the type of OI you're going through - is it clomid, or injectibles? have you had a period of "down regulation" with synarel/lucrin before starting injections if that is the case? it makes it easier to help if we know a little more, however, i'll share my little tale now anyway and hope that it helps in some way
i used clomid for three cycles - varying dosages, and i didn't respond at all. in the end i was referred for OI via injectible FSH. our frist cycle, they tried to "down reg". i was asked to take synarel nasal spray for about a fortnight to ensure my homone levels were flat. had a BT and all was good. started FSH (puregon) injections and after 6 days, i went for a BT to check estrogen levels. minimal to no response, so my dosage was increased for four days, and another BT. still nothing. cycle cancelled. second cycle started out the same, synarel, BT, all going well - and we started puregon again - but at a higher dose for a few days, then stepped down to a lower one. day 6 BT was just as devastating as the first time round. NOTHIN! so cycle three, the FS decided to do something different. instead of a full down reg cycle, i had a BT (for some people, it would be based on their period arriving - i don't have visits from AF, so BT is it). flat hormones, so we started the puregon straight away. day 7, off to the nurse for an ultrasound - no BT's this time! all going great guns - 3 beautiful dominant follies. i had to grow them a little longer, so i was given an antagonist shot there and then, and had to do that same shot at the same time for next three days to stop ovulation happening too early. day four i had trigger shot, and the day after that iui (intra uterine insemination - my FS won't do OI with timed intercourse). i ended up with mild hyperstimulation, and a BFN on that cycle, but at least we got to the point we actually got somewhere! my body didn't like the down reg process, it would go into a drug induced menopausal state and didn't want to wake up again!
i have had two more OI cycles since then - the second one resulted in a BFP but i unfortunately miscarried early. we then moved to IVF as our clinic aren't keen on doing more than 3 IUI's before moving on. our second embryo transfer again resulted in BFP with early m/c. we're now about to start another IUI cycle as our local clinic for IVF only runs every few months and we don't want to have to wait forever. i have confidence that it can and does work (my bestie has a little girl from their third IUI cycle), and am happy to try this process again in the hopes that i don't have to do IVF again!
hope that all helps a little (sorry if it's a bit long winded!) - good luck
