Progesterone test after ovulation - would you wait?

I'm supposed to have a CD21 blood test to find out if I ovulated. This would presume that I ovulate on CD14. Well, it looks like I'm going to ovulate on CD18 (today) or CD19. Now I realise all I need to do is call the dr and ask ... but I'm just throwing the question out there.
If you ovulated on CD18, would you wait till CD25 to do the blood test? Or would you stick with CD21 as originally told by the dr?

I would wait, I don't think it'll work right if you don't get it roughly 7 days after (maybe 5-9 days is ok...?)

Cheers MadB - that's what I was thinking too.
I will call the dr to double check, I just wanted to have some idea before I made the call.

hmmm hard one. I would wait. Your doc might want you to have 2.. one on day 21 and then a few days later to see if you did O late.

Progesterone rises approx 3mg a day after ovulation so if your FS has a baseline level for you they should be able to tell if you have ovulated. Levels tend to be < 2 prior to ovulation, and > 5 after ovulation.

Thanks N2L for that information - the ObGyn I've seen (only once) hasn't exactly been forthcoming with information about my levels ... if and when we do conceive I won't be using her as my Ob, that's for sure!!

I have a shortish LP, so I usually had the test 5-6dpo.

Hi all - I just started a new thread in this area (no idea how to link it). Basically the gyno wants me to have a blood test today and again on Saturday.
Totally confused as to why and the gyno is filtering all information through her damn secretary, who can't explain what the tests will actually show. Not impressed. The void of information is giving me the royal irrits. If we don't get our BFP this month, I "may" go one more cycle of clomid under this dr or I might just give her the flick and go elsewhere.

    Thanks for the responses gals.

When on clomid, I used to O on CD18 and always had my BT on CD21, my progesterone levels were crazy high too, like 150-200.
